  1. I'm guessing that the bulk of your visitors are going to more computer savvy than the average PC user hence the comparatively low showing of IE. I thought the main reason for the big market share for IE was down to businesses anyway? I know that my employer is locked down as far as installing new browsers, for 'security' reasons, ironically I asked about a dozen people that I worked with and they all used IE, either knowingly or not, usually not. With ISPs branding IE for themselves most people thought they were using a 'BT', 'Yahoo' or 'Virgin' browser. I had to try to explain that it was really just IE, albeit hidden underneath a branded shortcut and homepage. Good luck with the site!
  2. Finally got around to watching Howl's Moving Castle. Typically quality animation and storytelling from Ghibli. 8/10 Watched Porco Rosso again too, just something about that movie I can't put my finger on. Good stuff. Also, Max Payne. I never played the games for more than 5 minutes so I can't really compare. Average action-fest with an all-over-the-shop storyline and some wooden acting. 5/10
  3. Is that done from the control panel? Neither of us has ever used Vista before. Yes both can be killed from Control Panel, Defender can also be disabled via Services, amongst another dozen or so probably unneeded ones.
  4. There's a lot of good info on how to strip down Vista anyway if he's not happy. I found the BlackViper to be very useful.
  5. Snap! Though it was due in large part to my extremes of laziness and apathy. I think I wan't one but then when I get one it doesn't seem like such a good idea any more. From now on it's hookers all the way!
  6. The technical implications of a 128MB debug box I have no clue about. As far as using Mameox128 then it's up to you. I don't think the emulator itself is specifically optimised for 128MB machines, rather it uses a secondary 'vmm.txt' called 'vmm128.txt' which it uses if 128MB is detected. I'm not entirely sure but if you used this 'vmm128.txt' instead of the standard 'vmm.txt' in CoinOPS for example it should be able to work just as well as Mameox128, renaming it to 'vmm.txt' obviously. I could be very wrong though. Maybe BP can advise here? As for other emulators, I'm sure they would all benefit from the extra RAM if they needed it. Whether or not they have been coded to take advantage of it is another matter.
  7. The only thing that's going to attract more traffic to an emulation site is breaking emulation news, and obviously that can't be manufactured. This year's updates to FBAxxx and CoinOPS I'm sure have helped bump up the hits a lot but otherwise there hasn't been much happening. I sort of suggested renaming the site to 1gaming as a throwaway comment but it might be worth a shot. Then again it would mean losing our identity as 1emu altogether. Maybe a small downloads section with various emulators, tools, rom managers etc etc might suck some more people in?
  8. I think you meant Mortal Kombat Trilogy. MK Anthology wasn't an official release, I think it was some sort of fan made PS2 release. To play MK 1/2/3 on Xbox all you need is the 3 arcade roms and either Mame 0.72 or Mame b6 (can't remember which). Fumanchu would be able to tell you which emu it is that plays them.
  9. 1080i isn't full HD, plus 720p is better than 1080i in every respect apart from still images. I think 720p is pushing our luck as it is
  10. Just go and download a WonderSwan emu and be done with all this SNES mess!
  11. If Windows isn't recognising everything then your best bet is something like Techie Tools or Hiren's boot disk. Both give you a lot of DOS apps that you can try to recover with. The one that helped me a lot in a similar situation was Active @ Partition Recovery. Here is a link to Hiren's website.
  12. Me neither. Though the hours that we put into these games the soundtracks can grow on you. For that reason alone I grabbed the Rogue Galaxy and Blue Dragon OSTs. Of those two I would definitely recommend Rogue Galaxy.
  13. I used to like Roland Rat when I was younger but I haven't seen him for ages
  14. I was just waiting for a 8.372 rating some day, or perhaps a 5.509?
  15. I'm so far adrift I didn't realise Mame ran SF3 :S I would try elsemi's CPS3 emulator as it seemed to run it well. It apparently supports the chd too
  16. Hmm - Turtles, Sunset Riders, X-Men, Simpsons, Contra, Gyruss (all Konami). - SF2:CE, D&D, Battle Circuit, AvsP, Punisher, Final Fight, Captain Commando, Mars Matrix, Progear, Giga Wing, 19XX, Darkstalkers, X-Men COTA etc etc, basically almost any Capcom CPS1/2 game. - Superman, Robocop, New Zealand Story, Ghosts 'n' Goblins, R-Type, Double Dragon, Sega Rally.
  17. Nothing much you can do with it without games. You can copy them to the HDD and play them off it but you still need the disk in the first place, and you need it in the drive when you play too. No dashboards except for the one that MS gives you. No hacks. Only other thing you could do is to stream some films from your PC or from an external HDD if you don't have blank discs to burn through. What about Live? Arcade games etc?
  18. Xbox-Sky is a private tracker limited to it's members. Xbins is publically available to anyone with an IRC/FTP client. I fail to see how it would be 'faster and easier'. This deserves it's place at Xbins anyhow.
  19. Despite a few niggles which keep it from being better than Oblivion (IMO), I'd have to give Fallout 3 the nod. It's killing me not to say GTA4 (so I just did), but F3 just pips it for me.
  20. Nero doesn't recognise an image in it's very own format? Strange. Discjuggler to convert to cdi. UltraISO is capable of handling most other image files, including NRGs. It also has a virtual drive like Alcohol, Daemon etc.
  21. That's kind of depressing. I actually thought we had a lot more members than that
  22. Why do you need Arcades and CoinOPs? I can't even begin to remember how I used an individual folder to share between emus, sorry. PC Mame only supports 3870 distinct games, with 7304 ROM images. A large majority of newer games from mid-90s onwards have severe difficulty running on the Xbox, and most anything 3D is a no go. Say even 2000 games are actually playable, a good chunk of those will be crappy 70s/80s Space Invader clones or other worthless junk. For a list of good quality, well emulated games, then you should check out the CoinOPS spreadsheet for starters. CPS1/2 is an absolute must!! I would trade every other game for CPS2 alone. Final Fight, SF2, Progear, D&D, Marvel vs Capcom, Aliens vs Predator etc etc etc. CPS3 is nothing in comparison.
