  2. I wasn't arguing about anything. I was stating that it was a workprint because the quality difference between that and a proper screener is usually very significant! As for DVD rips, some films are mislabelled as such, eg a very good screener passed off as a DVD rip. In proper usage they should only ever refer to a copy of a retail DVD.
  3. Well happy birthday anyway... geezer! +1.. congrats
  4. Sure, check back in 3+ months when it's actually out on DVD, otherwise any DVD rip IS a screener. What do you mean by screener? Cam? It's not a screener, it's a workprint. A workprint looks like a pre-production film, mostly complete but lacking some editing, CGI, overdubs, that sort of thing. Workprints are ok for 'normal' movies without any special effects, but not for this sort of thing
  5. Windows doesn't magically come with every sound/video driver! Find out what make/model your motherboard is and go download the drivers for it. The minute amount of time spent downloading/installing a few drivers will seem like a drop in the ocean compared to the headache of trying to run Win32 games on Linux. Honestly, I have no qualms with Linux, but outside of a core of dedicated games it's just not 'there'.
  6. I made the DAT with ClrMame (3.30) as in the guide. There was an option to use either 'XML' or 'deprecated' data format, which wasn't in the guide, presumably an older ClrMame version. I'll make another one using 'deprecated' and upload it for you to try instead.
  7. Using the roms included with Ignite I made the dat as requested. I'm assuming this is what you wanted? DAT is in my sig
  8. You FTP'd the iso itself over to the Xbox? It needs extracted first, or burnt, to work. As for CoinOPS Ignite, the standalone is in my sig. Full version can be obtained by PM if requested.
  9. My Saturn, DC, PS2 and Xbox are all gathering dust, have been for months/years. When I think about it I must have close to 400 games for those consoles and haven't the heart to play a single one My 360 is still active but 99% of the time it's only for streaming/HD.
  10. I remember watching an OXM video recently and it featured the UK's 'best' SF player. He uses Sagat, and has won tournaments. I've been using Sagat since Champ Edition and couldn't really put my finger on it, but I guess he does 'control space' better than the rest.
  11. As a workaround I believe people were playing the audio separately as the game was playing. I'm assuming from the OST?
  12. I'm no expert but all(?) of the Nintendo titles use a different sound encryption type to 'normal' games. Thus no sound in Wind Waker etc. Apparently sound emulation for those games could be quite some time off I only had the chance to try Wind Waker myself (64-bit) a few months ago and I was getting similar FPS to what you mentioned. The lack of sound just kills it for me though. I'm actually considering buying a cheapo second-hand GC again just to dig back into some of these titles.
  13. Same deal with the NeoGeo stuff. I use FBA for CPS/NG games and let Mame handle the rest! And yes, the roms will in all likelihood be identical to the ones you already have
  14. I've only ever used Final Burn Alpha for NeoGeo, or ocassionally Mame. I think FBA is generally considered the 'best' NG emulator. http://www.barryharris.me.uk/fba.php
  15. Using a Dell OEM version of XP to restore won't have given you any specific drivers. You have gotten some generic stuff. Advice would be just as DIY said. Good luck!
  16. RRoD is less frequent now because of the newer models. The latest fault emerging is the E74, to do with the image scaler chip failing apparently. Details
  17. They cancelled Arrested Development no less! At least we got 53 episodes but it could have been a lot more. Idiots. The first of those last four Futurama movies has a good rant at Fox
  18. Mame Content Manager is the only one I can recall. Allows renaming/deletion etc. I used it to remove Mahjong/Adult games. How useful it will be for you I don't know, can't remember much about it!
  19. Yeah, haven't properly played SF since Alpha 2 on the Saturn. Compared to that pad the 360 one is poor I just could never get used to a joystick for fighters at all for some reason. Whatever suits you I guess.
  20. Even that would only be temporary. The whole CPS3 thing just seemed to fly by. Modern emulators are progressing nicely but are still out of the reach of most people as they require too much CPU power. Not to mention that they are still glitchy/no sound for the most part. Plus these emus already have their own dedicated forums anyway, something which never really happened before. If people are saying emulation has passed it's apex then why continue flogging a dead horse? Why not change the name of the site and broaden the scope? If emulation is 'dying' then surely 1emulation will/is slowly dying with it?
  21. Clicking both thumbsticks in the Settings menu allows you to add extra rom paths. All you have to do is add your DVD drive to that list.
  22. Looks very nice indeed. More appealing to me than SFIV looks-wise. I've always dodged NeoGeo fighters like the plague though, each to their own
  23. Funny, I recommended that game on here a year ago or so as a hidden gem, just didn't ring a bell! Glad you found it anyway, nice little platformer.
  24. If you can find an older romset then virtually any game will work, within the bounds of the hardware. You could also try locating 'BAED3A' which I believe contains over 3000 roms, almost all of which should be compatible with Ignite. Maybe some VMM or keymapping tweaks would need applied. As for updating the core, that is an enormous undertaking, hence why Xbox Mame hasn't seen a core update in years. Not that many worthwhile games have been added since 0.84 anyway, though quite a few have been tidied up/sound added etc. It's much easier to make a shortlist of wanted 'new' roms and just add their drivers instead. I said before about sticking with one name and still stand by it. Ignite is a good name! The concept of CoinOPS was to have a simple emulator, why not keep the naming of it simple too?
  25. Great looking pads! We should all own at least 3 of those
