What is with Nintendo on not providing DVD playback? I'll tell you what....... The liscencing fee to the DVD Consortium is what. Add DVD Playback to the Wii and I'd bet on a $25 increase in price per unit due to a multi-million dollar liscencing fee for use on the Wii ONLY. This is one of the reasons it wasn't available on the Gamecube and a proprietary media was used. Then you can add another $25 per unit for hardware capability (This includes an on-die decoder and whatever software is necessary in the Wii firmware/frontend). So instead of a $249.99 console, you have a $279.99 console most likely (Maybe even $299.99) The Wii 12cm disc will also be proprietary in nature. Filesystem etc just like that of the Cube. Even software developers using "DVD Media" for games on the 360 have to pay a royalty to the DVD Consortium. Can you guess half the reason Wii titles will be that much cheaper than 360 titles? I bet you can..........

Because like LSD said, you're part of "the family". Nobody quits da family!

Wii all the way. NEVER EVER EVER will I pay over $300 for ANY console. Only once have I ever done it, and I sooooo regretted doing so (The 3DO). The only other time I've spent over $200 was on my Gamecube. I'll be waiting for a sub $200 price on the Wii, and I'll buy a PS3 after it flops......

I always thought there was something a little feminine about you..... Didn't the Crocodile Hunter teach you anything?

Now you've got it all WRONG. Horribly WRONG. Theres a "Newb" and then theres a "Noob". A "Newb" doesn't demand things, and takes the time to look things up. They'll google for an emulator for the system they are interested in, and then if they can't get a game to work.........they'll ask why, and what games do work. A "Noob" will demand to know if theres an emulator for a specific system without even bothering to look himself, and then proceed to ask why the emulator they were told "ONLY RUNS HOMEBREW" won't play their games that just hit retail shelves. Newbs are k, Noobs suck fierce ass.

Guess I'm not only waiting for a price drop, but different colors as well. White just don't jive in my entertainment unit.

If it wasn't for the small spattering of other chicks, I'd have to change the title on this thread to "The Underage Japanese Girl Thread - For Hentai Loving Pedos"

I doubt you'll locate exact schematics for these games, but look for Midway 8080 repair manuals or schematics for Space Chaser. As for Space Wars, the hardware is unique...........good luck. Edit: Actually I found Ebay auctions with complete manuals. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Space-Chaser-Coin-op-Ar...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.ca/Space-Wars-1978-Cinemat...1QQcmdZViewItem

Post Your Download/Upstream

Depends on the torrent, and the users obviously. It's not like I don't see slow speeds, but on well seeded torrents I max out often. Maybe you're in need of the TCP sockets patch for XP? (I forget how many sockets SP2 is limited too, I think like 10) Your client will also only allow so many connections per torrent. By default, Azureus limits me to far less than my connection can handle. Bump up for max connections and see if you achieve better speeds (If you can set this in your client) -

Nearest server to me (North of Toronto) was the Seattle one (NJ one wasn't working). These results are HIGHLY inaccurate, as I average 3x the download on everything I normally do. Upload was fairly accurate however. Your download speed : 1780 kbps or 222.5 KB/sec. Your upload speed : 651 kbps or 81.4 KB/sec -
Stock Windows drivers for video cards do not support AGP Texturing/Sidebanding/FW period. They are just "generic" get you going drivers. Obviously you've now solved this, but I thought I'd let you know.

Go with the WD, you won't really find a better price (Thats about the norm on Ebay too). Stay AWAY from the perpendicular technology until it's proven itself, it's very much still in it's infancy. Seagate drives are pretty good, nothing to snub your nose at, but WD is the better choice. The only thing worthy of spending the extra coin on between the 2, is that the Seagate drive has 16mb of cache versus the WDs 8.......and trust me, you won't notice it if you bought the 2 of em and benchmarked em against eachother, especially if your main use is storage. That cache is quite nice if you're a video editor, doesn't even help you any if you're archiving alot either (Your CPU and RAM are the big factors in speed there)

Give it some time. The whole Star Wars reincarnated thing has to blow over, right now it's a HUGE cash cow for Lucasarts, and I must say that alot of the Star Wars titles of late have been pretty damn good. Once they can't milk that cow anymore, they'll look to dig up the old stuff again. Won't have to wait "too" long I bet. Theres an Indiana Jones game from them coming to PS3/X360.

You should be stoned in public for this. Bumping a THREE year old thread? FTW! Google would help you more than anyone here possibly could with something this old.

The Shin Megami Tensei games just don't look like my thing. I can't stand cell shaded stuff, let alone anime themed stuff. ssj9vegeto0 I just got Shadow of The Collosus, and it's pretty damn good (Good looking too) but the lack of fighting anything but Collosi makes the game sort of boring otherwise.......it's needs minions! FYI I have an Xbox and a Gamecube, and I don't do online gameplay........so anything thats available on either is almost always graphically superior to the PS2. Namely the Splinter Cell series which I have all of them for Xbox.

Well I'd consider Big Name in the realm of RPGs to be stuff like the Final Fantasy games, Jade Cocoon 2, Kingdom Hearts. They're well known titles next to alot of other stuff. Zone of Enders was the first game I ever played on the PS2, back when it came out. Is 2nd Runner a better game?
-
Given that I already know the PS2 has a large game library, and I have played some of the more well known titles, I'd appreciate some suggestions on worthwhile PS2 titles. No fighting games please, I already have a couple and I'm not interested in playing any others. Racing games are also worth skipping, it's probably one of my favourite genres and I don't like arcade racers so the pickings are rather slim (And well known). I like RPGs, but I already know all the big name titles. If you're going to throw an RPG at me, give me something not all too "Big Name" that isn't a POS.

Speaking of FDS stuff, anyone know what the Metroid FDS is called in the GoodNES set? I have a complete set with US/JP (Good/Verified Good only) roms but only 1 Metroid rom. Metroid FDS supports saving, rather than that stupid password system.

Good review, sorry to say it has helped me make the decision to NOT buy a GP2X. I'm not much a fan of handhelds, as I tend to break portable stuff easily.......but I was hoping this thing would be my "Portable Xbox" sans games..........it appears it's rather lacking for anything but videos/music, which I can get much cheaper in a dedicated video player.

There's quality of PCB design and other hardware to take into account too. While they may run ATi GPUs, 3rd party cards can utilize any number of different parts for other components on the board. I've studied heavily that exact card though, and I can tell you the build quality on it is probably as high as an ATi retail if not higher.
