  1. Well yes so it would seem. But it appears to be a trade-off between disc swapping and having to patch each game to be compatible with Vast. If this patching of games is required then people will not only have to pay for Vast, but also invest a fair bit of money in blank DVDs, not to mention the time needed to patch/burn each game. In other words, it doesn't exactly seem worth the hassle if you already make use of the independence exploit. The money used would be much better spent on an external HDD to eliminate discs altogether ( yes i know HDLoader isn't 100% compatible ). Not to mention it's coming out way too late in the PS2s life cycle.
  2. I put 10 hours into Persona 3 before I realised I was doomed to repeat everything I had already done ad nauseum. So I moved on to Atelier Iris, some simple old-school RPG bliss.
  3. I never gave it a thought before but I swear like a sailor in real life yet I don't think I've ever sworn on a board. I think it's partly that you never know who will read what you have written, partly that I don't get worked up or argue on boards (it's not that important), and mostly because even ordinary conversation can be misconstrued on the net without throwing expletives into the mix. I have disagreed with Gamecop on plenty of stuff before (well, not vocally), but I say let it stand. If you can't make your point without swearing then likely it's weak to begin with. But, given the post minimum for the Spam forum I would give people the option to filter or not, if this is indeed possible. Just to add, I find the use of substitute profanities embarrassing. Either swear or don't! Using flock, fecker, asshat etc etc, are just plain wrong. (Apologies if I sound like an asshat)
  4. Good luck with that Rob. I foolishly tried to merge a couple of partitions on my drive earlier just out of boredom and lost all my mame stuff Im posting this from my Nokia E65 cause it looks like I'm going to need a fresh XP install too.
  5. 1. Opera. ( Firefox hype makes me physically ill ) 2. 20/768k. ( Takes an hour to d/l then the rest of the day to seed back! ) 3. I don't play PC games, I just game on my PC. Whether they stick with it I'm sure depends entirely on how effective it proves to be.
  6. Apologies, I meant the PS2 version. The last I played it was emulated through Neogenesis on Xbox. My mistake. Sonic CD was always love/hate title amongst fans. I guess I just prefer the looser gameplay of CD.
  7. I still need to try that game out... it's really that good huh? its decent, not the best IIRC it was consistently voted better than the other Sonic games at the time of it's release. Truthfully, it doesn't play any better than 2 or 3 but more and longer levels (50), the past/future gimmick, new bonus stages and much better soundtrack (Jap one is preferred as US music was changed) due to CD media. The only flaw is that the spin can't be charged a la Sonic 2, but overall I think it's classic 2D Sonic fare. I have it for Xbox as part of Sonic Mega Collection, I'm assuming it's on PS2 too.
  8. Sonic CD is clearly the 'best'. The end.
  9. Megadrive - Sonic CD Master System - Golden Axe Warrior Game Gear - Sonic 2 GB - Tetris DX Nes - Zelda Snes - Super Mario All-Stars Playstation - DoDonPachi Playstation 2 - Espgaluda Neo-Geo - Viewpoint GBA - Zelda 4 Swords N64 - Zelda OOT Xbox - Champ Manager 360 - Oblivion Saturn - VF2 DC - Karous PC - Sim City or Settlers Jaguar - Sensible Soccer
  10. You didnt state what format you wanted to end up with. Im assuming you want to rip your dvd to avi? If so then you could use Nero, DVD2AVI, AutoGordianKnot, CCE, Mainconcept, TMPEGEnc etc etc. You would be better advised to go to Videohelp.com to get started with tutorials. DVD Decrypter will only rip to .vob/ts/bup/ifo ie raw dvd video files, or an iso, neither of which I think you want.
  11. Use DVD Decrypter to extract all the .vob files to your hard drive. Then you can use any number of softwares to crop/edit the movie. Personally I use (and have always used ) TMPGEnc. TMPGEnc 4 Xpress would probably be the best bet, using the in-built 'Crop' filter to edit your vobs. Then re-author the DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author, or you could maybe get away with just rebuilding the vobs adding bup/ts/ifo files with IFOEdit (freeware). Easy peasy!
  12. Excuse my ignorance but the only M3 I know of is a BMW. What exactly is it?
  13. If you just want to play HSF2 on your xbox then FBAxxx Pro v1.28 runs hsf2a (Asia) just fine. Hope that helps.
  14. I actually had one of these, bought primarily for AvP. Software library was poor to say the least but I don't regret getting one. I think I only had AvP, Cybermorph, Iron Soldier, Theme Park and (my personal fav) International Sensible Soccer. Ironically ISS was the best ever console conversion of the popular (in the) UK game.
  15. Even though I had a Master System first, my SNES was played a million times more. Zelda, SF2, SMW, Sim City(!), Super Tennis, Secret of Mana, Cybernator, Madden, Pilotwings, Super GnG, Mario Kart, Castlevania etc *drools* (zsnesbox is calling) Totally unrelated but I found a pack of near mint SF2 cards that were given away with some old UK mag, probably Mean Machines. I'll post a pic or two to see if anyone can help me identify their origins. and here, and here for all 12.
  16. I don't get it. How come there are these rules about roms, linking to external torrent sites etc, but yet it is ok to go into partnership with a site that sells sd cards which are primarily used to play illegally downloaded roms with? Personally I don't care, I'll download anything that moves, but it just seems a bit strange to me. I get that telling people directly where to download roms is an obvious no-no, but this is almost as bad?
  17. Cool, and pretty much unknown, 2D scrolling platformer from Irem with good gfx, catchy music and addictive gameplay. IIRC it got a home port or two as well, though the arcade version was Jap only.
  18. I was talking in an earlier post about a few years back when 1emu had it's own DC hubs, 6 or so IIRC. But then the whole filesharing thing was deemed unacceptable and as having a negative impact on the site's 'legitimate' emulation credentials. I do agree on more IRC activity though.
  19. 'MKV to AVi Converter' should do the trick. I remember using it not so long ago for much the same tasks.
  20. Yeah I remember that rumour about Guile, well the handcuffs bit anyway. IIRC one of the old Snes mags had a fake pic of Guile with someone in cuffs, I think it was a sprite lifted from Final Fight or something.
  21. For the purpose of filesharing I presume?
  22. psx rpg revival - dragon quest 7 and the *almighty* xenogears
  23. Us infidels in the UK are well used to maltreatment by Sony/Nintendo/Sega etc. This is just another chapter in our console history..
  24. BAED 3A (Big Ass Emulator Disc) has mameox and a huge selection of roms on one disc, some 3000-ish IIRC. Having gone through each and every rom there are a lot which don't work anyway, especially the newer, more ram-intensive games. FBAxxx also runs a lot of roms which mame(d)ox etc doesn't eg. Guwange, EspRaDe and some Neo-Geo stuff. There is no one complete solution for arcade emulation as such.
  25. could never really get into anime series, preferred the features instead (mostly Ghibli stuff) ..but I'd recommend Black Lagoon without hesitation. I have only watched the first series tho, not sure about the second anime-source black lagoon
