  1. I never really noticed highs/lows as far as post counts go on here, but the past few days have seen an embarrassing lack of activity. Literally 3-4 hours were passing regularly without a post. If the PS3/360 were hacked properly and had a raft of emus at their disposal then I could see this place being flooded again; otherwise it's hard to see where new members are coming from. I remember Gouken saying that the PS3 had a lot of emulators working via Yellow Dog but I can hardly recall anyone actually dropping in and asking about it. I'm in the same boat pretty much. I'd rather post nothing at all than just anything for the sake of it. Lately though I have been making an effort to post more, despite the fact that I'm 30 and my passion for emulation/gaming has waned a lot, I have picked up a fair bit of knowledge along the way, so I like to stick around. That happens to all of these kind of forums. Dcforums was exactly the same. People came in, grabbed the links or whatever and disappeared, never to be seen again. Better they don't stay at all than sh!t post one line responses with no worth at all. That forum, in my experience, parallels this one quite well. It was pretty much a toss of a coin which forum I stuck with about a year ago, I chose here. I have made 300 posts or more in the last year, compared to like 300 in the first 3 years, but I have noticed a few 'heavy-hitters' dropping off. IMHO this place always revolved around a small core of frequent posters, namely Agozer, Gryph, Weirdy, K'Dash etc. Gryph (who isn't on the top posters list anymore?) doesn't show, Weirdy hardly ever, Wizard pretty regularly still and even Agozer has put the brakes on by his previous standards. It is pretty depressing.
  2. I thought FBAxxx development stopped ages ago. The last version I have here is dated 18/7/06.
  3. It's a full new final release. It was plastered all over the internet a few weeks back.
  4. wait the sheet says ALL the mortal kombat games are "GOOD" does that mean they ALL work WITH sound o0!!! Read over to column 'E'. Sound is a 'NO'. Sure if you have that pack then you have your trilogy in perfect working order anyway BP said he may be able to integrate part of the 0.72 code needed to run MK1/2/3 at near full speed with sound. It could still happen!
  5. Lol. You might want to keep links private sir. It's not exactly in compliance with board rules
  6. Luckily I'm not an MGS fan then Friends that have this have all praised it very highly though. It's a pity a port would be as difficult as you pointed out. I'd still like to play it, fan or not.
  7. MKA/MKD are both backwards compatible with the 360 so those without an Xbox1 can play these too.
  8. Yes, like people said the Genesis couldn't 'do' SF2. Yes, it couldn't compete with the SNES version on most levels, but they did it and played to the system's strengths, improving it in some areas. Sure the 360 couldn't replicate MGS4 as it stands, but they could still pull it off.
  9. I'm finding pretty much the same thing with my 360 that I did with my Xbox1, that is if you don't like FPS you are pretty limited. I don't mean just standard FPS like UT3, I mean first person perspective games in general. Even very highly regarded games like Bioshock are FPS at heart. I'm enjoying the fringe games a lot more like Civilisation, Football Manager and Viva Pinata. Oblivion is still the most engrossing 360 game for me, depth galore. Rainbow Six Vegas is great, if a little short. Mass Effect is good if you can absorb the 'mass' of text and cutscenes. Bioshock is amazing if you like FPS, amazing atmosphere and unobtrusive narrative. I'm not a HL2 fan but Portal was great, if very short. Assassin's Creed looks beautiful and is worthwhile if you can stomach the repitition and iffy story. I despise JRPGs with my every breath so that rules those out. I also have Rockstar TT, Fifa, Pro Evo, GRAW2, RSV2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Top Spin 3 and Splinter Cell. Any recommendations? Btw I'm not overly keen on racing games either
  10. This was posted on Xbox-Sky like 2 years ago or more. I think I have it lying around here somewhere.
  11. The link to the spreadsheet is a few pages back. The games have to be tested with the latest CoinOPs+. A chunk of games have been tested already but then everyone stopped. It's been dormant more or less for weeks.
  12. Ask whoever done it what speed they used. 12x is the default as it's the native speed of the drive. It can be slowed to like 8x, 5x or 2x. It just makes for a quieter drive and you can get away with crappier discs because of the slower read speed. It does increase the length of load times though.
  13. You can alter the speed during the flashing process. I take it you didn't flash it yourself?
  14. It's only a relatively new drive so it hasn't been hacked yet. From reading up at Xbox Scene it looks like it won't be hacked at all, or any time soon. You can't swap the drive for another one because you need the key from the BenQ that you have, and it can't be read yet.
  15. While they have an 'I don't have to wait' grin on their face. Not to mention that the full graphical capabilities of the PS3 may never be realised, or at least on a small scale like the Saturn was, due to it's own 'difficult' hardware.
  16. The 360 can stream all of the above, except it can play full 1080p WMV instead of VOB, as well as upconverts lower resolutions to 720p/1080p. Keyboard and mouse support, online play (not free but miles ahead), themes. Upgradeable HD. Plays HD-DVD movies, and DVDs, and DVDs full of video/music files and HD wmv/mp4/h264. Try listing some advantages instead of Linux/Blu-Ray Just the sheer fact that the 360 can play 'backups' is more than enough reason to choose it over the PS3 for most people.
  17. Why? What system was Gouken partial to? Like Don and Teck he is allied with the PS3.
  18. Source MS has extended the support window for XP to 2014 too, meaning those who don't want to use Vista should never really need to.
  19. The Peacemaker. Potential nuclear disaster must be averted by George Clooney and Nicole Kidman. Not bad. The Devil's Own. Politically suspect thriller with Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford. Average fare but Pitt's Northern Irish accent is pretty much spot on. Both from '97 btw. Not exactly the latest TS
  20. I never owned one, just a friend. I waited and jumped on the 64-bit Jaguar! Neither were exactly stellar machines
  21. Nope. Last word from BP was that it was dead in the water due to lack of bug testers.
  22. Did you get the roms with the CoinOPs package? Do they work in Mame on your PC? Delete any other older CoinOPs folders if they exist, they end in 4 or 5 instead of the 9 of CoinOPs+. Also try deleting the TDATA/UDATA entries for CoinOPs+ and retransfer them to your Xbox.
  23. That's nice, but all the games are sh!t The 3DO's specs are sub-PSX so I would imagine it could be ported and run pretty well. Maybe the FMV-heavy games wouldn't fare so good though.
  24. It's likely you have one of the clones. You need 'mshvsf.zip' which is the parent rom. Then you can try US, Asian, Japanese versions. Theres like 10 million places to get this rom. Also, try different emulators, sometimes that can help - FBA, Mame, Nebula etc etc.
  25. For once Spain had a decent back 4, as well as the good midfield/strikers that they usually have. The German defense was abominable. IMO the last quality defender they had was Matthias Sammer and he retired in '98.
