  1. Alexis, you do realise that DeJap translations are working on Far East of Eden Zero, do you not? (could take a while tho)
  2. Does anyone know why every arcade emu has a "roms" directory and just scans what is in there, unlike other emus where you can just load any file in any directory (and it can be called anything)?
  3. Probably - Bastard was an anime series, but I have never played the game. Weirdest game I would have played for SNES was probably Captain Tsubasa. This is a soccer game, there are 11 or so incarnations on the NES, SNES, SegaCD, Playstation, GBA, GB and probably more I haven't even even heard of. The weird thing about this soccer game is instead of the usual view of above the players, the view is centred in on the person who has the ball (ie it looks like he is running towards the screen), and instead of having buttons to pass shoot etc... instead you run for a while and when you want to do something, you press any button and this menu comes up with the choices of what to do (after fifteen minutes with a katakana list I could work out words like "shooto" and "duribble" (these are the phonetic translations, I'm not being racist). When you kick something, it flashes to a series of anime-style screens, for example if a defender is coming and you choose to shoot, first there will be the animation of you trying to outflank the defender, if you succeed it will go to an animation of a ball flying through the air and any players nearby will jump up and get a chance to intercept it. If you get it past them, there will be the animation of your ball vs the goalie and if the ball manages to get into the goals - you've scored! I can't really describe it and there is more to it (like some people have special kicks), but I just recommend that you get one of the many versions floating around (4 for SNES). Elsewhere in the forum I have posted links to many of the games, but they are pretty easy to find. If anybody wants to play any of these game and can't find them just pm me. A little tip: Captain Tsubasa J is a little different than the others as you have arcade-y sequences (for example if you go to tackle the ball you have to tap a key repeatedly to build up power - the same for when you attempt to shoot etc...) EDIT: I forgot to mention that there have been various translation attempts for Captain Tsubasa games. The only one I've seen complete in English is for Tsubasa 1 (and that is a NES game) but if you find any other translations, please let me know ps, I am fairly sure Bastard was called that way because of bastard swords, not out of any shock value
  4. If you can find it, you have to get Rock & Roll racing <That's a point............seing as it is possible to rip data from a cartridge to your computer, would it technically be possible to do it the other way round? Of course, you'd need blank cartridges, they'd be hard to find!>
  5. I can't help you out with the comics or anything, but I do live in Australia and I do have copies of both of the NGE movies (that were ever released in English). No way will I sell them to you (they were a Christmas present!) But I suppose I could rip them 4 u... Also check out http://www.softredmania.com/nintendo64-2.htm for the Neon Genesis Evangelion Nintendo 64 Game!
  6. Just because I happened to be on DC I did a search for it, and someone at the PSX Forgotten Worlds Hub (psxforgotten.myftp.biz) has the arcade disc, the revolution disc and Rival Schools 2. He had no slots available so I didn't bother, but if you have patience, you'll find it there.
  7. Does anybody know how to emulate CD32 games with winUAE/Amiga in a Box?
  8. Is it even possible to IPS-patch a playstation game? Does anyone know how these patch-things work anyway - like do you have to go through changing every line of dialogue or is it possible to just change the symbols to display words in *english* (or whatever)? PS (Ithink all you have to do to make an iso is get a prog like cloneCD + make an image of the CD, but I will leave it up to the experts because you may need special settings etc... for psx games.) PPS (count me in 2! )
  9. Should I be concerned that I havent recieved an activation email, even though (apart from when it was down) I haven't had any trouble signing in? (although I have broadband so I guess I'm *always* signed in)???
  10. I have a bold vision for a 1emulation.com open-source video game (which you can play online) and that way the best posters on the forum would be allowed to have their very own character! Now how about THAT for incentive to join this forum?!? I think the only thing left would be to decide what type of game we want to make???
  11. Does spyware have to do with those websites that change your bloody homepage, and even changing it in IEs settings doesn't fix things. For me, I want my homepage to be www.google.com, and -=whatever=- keeps changing it to www.searchwww.com or something like that. Edit: Actually, on the subject of spyware, I have been getting some WEIRD junkmails lately. Have a look at this one, I swear I just cut and pasted it straight from hotmail (Except on my email all the weird stuff is white against a white background, so you can only just see it.): Stop jumping on the televsion program! 12. I too am having trouble with NIS...it keeps popping up and saying "can't read subscription data: you may need administrator privileges" but I am the only person using my computer. I too seem to be getting a few more popups than before...also I have this peice of spyware I can't remove called internet optimizer. Adaware keeps saying it can't remove it do you wanna remove it after a reboot...but when I reboot it scans again and finds nothing. Then next time I scan I find it again. GRRR. It's could well be unrelated to this virus tho.. coz I don't know if I have it.
  13. So am I to take it that it is still not out or have I just missed it on another forum? (I thought after 16 pages of posts thered be some progress )
  14. Hey, thanks for answering. And I understand the technical limitations emulators have to play with, hence why newer systems don't get emulated yet. But SVC Chaos...maybe I just wasn't running it properly, but graphically it really didn't look that much better than say Street Fighter Alpha. I suppose that is why you can emulate that and not, say, SFIII but I find it hard to believe that game makers continue to make games for the Neo Geo, if SVC is the pinnacle of graphics you can get for it, if there IS better technology out there. Maybe the golden years of arcade gaming are well behind us now... EDIT: that second post was posted b4 I finished posting this one. That makes more sense - I really don't see CPS-2s and Neo Geo games being made much longer. IT also strikes me that this Naomi thing could be hard to emulate, because it strikes me that all arcade emulators will be harder to write than console emulators, as you are 100x more likely to own a console that you are trying to emulate than an arcade machine. I didn't realise that Nebula and Kawaks were not hardware-based emulators or whatever so they do not just act like a neo geo machine. I suppose that makes more sense considering their layout compared to the console emulators. But why does MAME have the same layout (eg a list of games, which you either have or do not) if it emulates Neo Geo hardware and the others don't - shouldn't you then be able to play a rom called anything and it would act just like the system and read it? Thanks for clearing some problems up guys, but I'm still a little confused.
  15. A vicar, a priest and a rabbi are hiking up a great mountain (I hope I don't get in trouble for this ). The sun is shining high in the sky, and the three hikers are feeling hot and bothered. Soon they come across this beautiful estuary, like a lake built into the mountain. They are amazed and it is a beautiful sight, so they decide to go for a swim. However, they had no bathers' costumes with them, so they all decide to strip naked and skinny-dip. They had barely been in the pool long enough to get wet, however, when they noticed a huge group of hikers heading up the mountain. Fearing that members of their congregation might be present, the holy men panic and run out of the lake, still stark naked, into nearby bushes. The vicar and the priest covered their genitals as they ran, but the rabbi hid his face. when they were finally safe, the priest asked the rabbi why he had not covered his genitalia as he ran past those women. He replied, "I don't know about you, but my congregation is MUCH more likely to recognise me by my FACE!" <tee hee hee>

  17. Has anyone tried (and would it be possible) mapping the keypad to do fighting moves : so that if the keypad looks like this 789 456 123... a half circle towards you would be 2-3-6? Okay, so it would be kind of annoying but you would at least be sure you were making the right move (and it might make complicated movements easier by comparison). The only question is if you CAN map it so that pressing (3) would be like pressing down and towards at once.
  18. Maybe I'm just missing the point of emulation (and I did kind of get a kick out of playing SVC Chaos/ Astro Boy before they had even been released (well here anyway)...but a big thrill of emulation for me is playing all the old games I was addicted to when I was a kid, or all the games I missed out on but desperately wanted to play (hence why I really like Sega CD emulation even though the SegaCD itself was nothing special - when i was younger I REALLY wanted one). I just think that it isn't THAT much of a shame that we can't play the newer games on our emus yet...don't get me wrong, I have all the betas for the ps2, xbox, dreamcast, and gamecube emulators, but that was mainly to see the bios booting screen (I can't even get THAT to work) I wonder if it would be theoretically possible to have, say, an Xbox emulator for the PS2 or vice versa. I seriously doubt it, although now that I have seen mame emus for PS2 etc... I am not sure any more. Although from what i understand the PS2 wouldn't be nearly powerful enough to emulate the XBox's functions - or vice versa for that matter.
  19. Hi, reading these posts made me curious about some technical emulation questions I never really had thought of before. I know this isn't really the place, but you seem to be the guys to answer them (plus at least this forum is active). I don't really know much about the technical side of emulation, bt I am curious. Here is the question: Why is it that emulators like Kawaks and Nebula can only emulate cetain arcade games? I realise that there is a difference between CPS-1 CPS-2 and Neo Geo - but as I understand it people have been making games on these systems for YEARS. Plus, IF Kawaks etc... CAN run SVC Chaos etc...after some tweaking, and that game came out in 2003 (I think), does that mean that modern arcade machines are still being made to support these dated systems? If that is the case, does it not seem odd that we are up to trilinear gourad-shaded graphics (or whatever) on the PS2, X-BOX etc..., whereas arcade game makers are still making games for a system which (I believe) had its peak in the early 1990s? What about the more fancy updated arcade machines? Are they in neo-geo format or some new system? If this new system is around and better, why are people still making games for the Neo Geo? Sorry if these questions are really stoopid, but I hope someone can answer me.
  20. veteran gamers, Reliving old victories, The battle Rages Well, that kinda sucks, but it'll do
  21. BTW everytime I go to Astalavista.box.sk I get about seven or eight different peices of spyware installed. They can't seem to so much through my internet security, but I can't get rid of them without running ad-aware. Just thought I'd let you guys know, as these things seem to really slow my PC down (especially my internet connection).
  22. I liked the idea of having a keyboard plugged and mouse plugged into an arcade machine, though - I think it sums up the spirit of emulation quite nicely
  23. I just don't seem to have that option. I looked in help and it said, "if the administrator has allowed it, you will see an option to attach a file." Would there be some reason why "the administrator"<sounds like something out f an action movie: Arnold Schwartzenegger is The Administrator > is not allowing me to add attachments?
