  1. Cool. I'm only posting here in this thread about them because my sets were considered for the poll. I've only got about 8 backers right now. Not the established thousands that use the no-intro sets already. You really don't need an arcade cabinet to put these on there though. One thing I don't think you're considering, and I understand it's because it's something we're just putting together now, is that you won't be able to have the gamefaq for a game pop up automatically when Madmab perfects the media browser. We've got a few guys collecting thousands of them now. Who wouldn't want to be able to do that for a game instead of logging on to the PC? Maybe you're not into Faqs, but I use them when I try to get everything on RPGs and stuff. We also plan on having the ability to automatically bring up other Xtras with the Media Browser like Game Manuals, Commercials, and Game Reviews. This will all be dependent on the roms matching the file names.
  2. Wait, these will be in ".XMV" format...? and not .wmv... This means, you wont be release them publicly, if this is the case. Both, of course....
  3. Who said anything about not having a visual representation? A screenshot or video preview is good enough for me. That combined with an ability to produce my own skins if needed. True, but I spent a lot of time making everything match so other people wouldn't have to. Originally I started out and thought that all I was going to do was have a single title shot of each game to scroll through. I made the title shots myself, as they were my original way of testing games and marking them before I was doing any spreadsheets. That's how I started the project about 4 years ago. (And that alone took a ton of time... Also consider that any romsets out there were 4 years less advanced as they are now too, and you can imagine how difficult just this alone was). From there it kinda morphed into something that's completely insane. I'm hoping that when I release these and people can see them for themselves all this work won't seem as crazy as at was when I was doing it. I won't argue anymore about it. There's really no point, and it's not fair for me to judge other people's views on this when my stuff isn't publicly available and setup so it's easy to use yet. If, when that time comes, people are still under the impression that using my sets isn't the best way to go without having even tried them out, then I will just chalk it up to close-mindedness on their part. BTW... by this time tomorrow there will be over 600 commercials added to the Xtras in XMV format. We've also got a scraper for YouTube now so if people find commercials that I don't have we can get them easily and convert them. What a trip watching those old Atari commercials in the XPORT: Madmab Edition Media Browser. I've had tons of commercials for going on 3 years now and I wondered if I'd ever do anything with them. We have several people collecting GameFaqs for the Media Browser and hope to have it setup to pull the right one automatically based off the rom filename and the Faq filename. They look great in the TXT file viewer now that madmab put in the fixed-width font. Also, I'm going to start working on the manuals again later this week. I hope to have a huge collection available in JPG format so they are viewable in the emus.
  4. I just don't even see the point of having the games if you have no visual representation for them, especially when all the work is being done for you. What a boring XBox/Cab/PC setup you all must have...
  5. You are aware that, in addition to the main DATs for each system, No-Intro also provides a parent-clone DAT. If you take only the parent sets from this DAT you would have only one ROMset for each game with no regional or other duplicates. Takes about 10 seconds to turn a full No-Intro set into a 'concise' 1-Game-1-ROM set. And it takes about 4 years to combine everything with beautiful touched up boxart sets, generic boxarts, synopsis, commericals, manuals, video previews for every game (including many hacks/translations/prototypes/unlicensed/homebrew...... 1,733 for the NES alone and counting), and all the other Xtras. Not to mention testing the games on the XBox to make sure they work and replacing bad roms with good ones. Plus you have to make it XFAT compatible. No-Intro = No-Xtras. It's a barebones romset that will not work with my project unless you rename the roms.
  6. I respectfully disagree. That is why I've made my own sets. If there is any reason to have a second version of a rom, for example the higher audio quality in the Japan roms, I have included them and added the alternate information to the synopsis. I am 100% confident that my romset is not only complete, but it is more concise than No-Intro. Also, if you're using No-Intro, you would have to convert everything to my names if you want to use the videos, Complete boxart/title/action packs with many carts, and .CUT files for command line launching among other things. Also, when madmab gets the media player to full functionality, you will need to do this for the added functionality of automatically bringing up the commercial, game review, manual and strategy guide for each game. No-Intro is the best place to grab the roms to make an Rx set, but you'll want to convert the names when these are uploaded. P.S. Obviously it's a small test group here, but my Xtras are only 1 behind no-intro. Not too shabby considering my romsets have never been publicly available yet and no-intro has been established for years.
  7. RessurectionXtras SNES Artwork Teaser Includes boxart, title shots and action shots for 1,129 SNES games as well as many of the carts. All games have boxart representation thanks to Gille's Generic Boxarts. File Includes: 1) Screenshots folder for SNES, which includes everthing mentioned above. 2) Datfiles to use with Romcenter to rename your roms so they work with the artwork. 3) .CUT files for command line launching of all 1,129 included SNES titles (you must have files in the exact same place that I do for these to work) Also included is an instructions file which should make it clear what you need to do to get these to work. Enjoy, ~Rx EDIT: You can use this script, http://www.mediafire.com/?jydngykgqgd, to convert the files to a ZSNESXBox friendly format.
  8. Well I would guess that having every single game from every region covering every system and updating them regularly as new dumps and information become available is somewhat beyond the scope of your project. So I daresay No-Intro will be remain the collector's choice for some time to come. For casual gamers though, I'm sure your sets are the ones to go for. Wow... that's pretty insulting. I've taken out all of the crap. I've tested 15,000 roms and had the videos created for every one. I've made synopsis entries for every one, and many of them contain several pages of information, cheats, controls and trivia. I've collected boxart, title shots, action shots for every one and many carts as well. Games that there was no boxart for or it couldn't be found have beautifully made generic boxarts from Gilles that look like the standard boxes for the systems. We're now in the process of collecting game maps and game faqs for these games that will be viewable in the Madmab Edition emu. I also have many game manuals converted from PNG to JPG for viewing within the emulator. .CUT files will be provided for all games too so they can be launched straight from XBMC if you desire. All files related to a rom match the romname perfectly so they will work very well together with the finished product. If 15,000 unique games that are tested as working with no trainer screens and all these other things I'm providing aren't enough for you, than be my guest and enjoy your messy looking romsets with 27 versions of Super Mario Bros. People really need to stop talking about the Xtras when they don't know what they're talking about.
  9. It probably won't be me since I really want my work for the scene done in a few months. Hopefully somebody combines our work someday. Before you do a lot of rom info, you should really look at my synopsis files and see if we can incorporate them into your emu. I've really done all the work already.
  10. You sent yourself my set of MSX & MSX2? Me no comprende??? EDIT: Also, it would be interesting to see how this poll turns out a year from now after the Xtras have been officially distributed. It's not entirely fair to go up against other systems which have been readily available by t0rrents for years when the Xtras have only been distributed via datfiles which people are then forced to hunt down the roms. Also, many of the roms included (hacks & translations) are not available anywhere without patching them yourself.
  11. You should do a video of the Odyssey 2 with "Take on Me" digitized Gilles. I've also got a great synthesized version of Van Halen's "Jump" as the background music for the Chip8. P.S. I hear you talking, but I don't understand any of it.
  12. You keeping a spreadsheet with a list of all of your games?
  13. Most of the videos are done now man. Got about 50 for the Dreamcast VMU, 120 for GBA and maybe a few hundred for the Atari 800 and that's it. I'd venture to guess we have over 10,000 videos for non-arcade games at this point.
  14. Don't really know what you mean here man, but if you're talking about making a one-stop-emu-shop, I'm down. Just give me details.
  15. Hope you're not doing too much double work here when I've already done this type of thing for over 10,000 games on 15 different systems. Ask and ye shall receive....
  16. It's the best multi-player version of Bomberman I've ever played. My brothers love it too. As far as non-port hombrew is concerned, this is the best homebrew XBox game in my opinion.
  17. aww yes the simpsons. for got that ones too. played alot of that. i know its not a video game but this arcade i went to had a game called Big Bertha (not the mortar lol) where you through plastic balls (like in ball pits) into this big ass girls mouth to get tickets and she laughed all creepy like. lol i loved playing that game. and getting tickets for a bunch of plastic crap i didnt need. Haha... I remember Big Bertha. We also had this cool game where you shot large balls out of a cannon and tried to knock the teeth out of some clown looking dude. If you spaced it just right, you could knock 2 teeth down with one shot. I was never able to knock 6 down in 3 shots which gave you like 10 times as many tickets as doing it in 4 shots, which I could do pretty frequently. I still have 5 resin Skeleton statues that are playing instruments that I got from the local arcade. I cashed them in when I was about 19 and went there to play mini-golf with a girl I was dating. It pretty much cost all the tickets I'd ever saved there as a kid growing up. They're actually pretty cool. Those places had some cool stuff, but you had to pay a fortune in games to get them. It was probably 200 bucks worth of games growing up that got those cool little statues.
  18. You didn't hear my number 2..... There was a game there one year called Pyros. "Wardner" is probably the name you'll remember though since MAME counts that as the parent and it was released as Wardner on the Genesis in America and on the NES in Japan. One of the most addictive arcade platformers ever, I thought. One year, one of the older teens broke the machine and ripped the whole damn joystick console right off the top. All you had to do was pick up the top and reach down and press a white button to get credits. Sounds great, but it wasn't long before everybody else picked up on that and there were long lines to play the game. I remember I was probably about 8 that year and somehow I managed to get everyone playing with a fair system and turning it over to the next group of 2 players. I just remember when talking to everyone and finding out who wanted to be partners, I said something along the lines of "He wants to be with him" and some dude with a shaved head said "I don't wanna be with him" and I didn't get it.....
  19. We had a Double Dragon at a arcade my brothers and I used to go to in Indiana. Cement floors.... jukebox usually playing. Kids smoking cigarettes. Those were the days.... before Big Brother took charge of everything. Now adults can't even smoke in bars and god help you if your in prison in California because a contraband pack of smokes will set you back nearly 400 bucks. Can't remember how me and this dude Chris figured it out, but we had this method of getting free credits on Double Dragon. When we'd put our quarters in the game, we'd start beating the hell out of the coin box and the quarter must have bounced around or something because sometimes we could get 6 credits for one quarter. Got so good at the game that summer that I could beat it on one quarter, so I could stand in front of that damn thing for 4 hours off of a buck easy.
  20. LOL... that GTA game looks great. Too bad it's not ready before my Xtras packs go out. Oh well.... the homebrew/hack/translation scene still seems to be thriving, so it won't be the only game that will be missing from my sets down the road. Thanks for showing me that. Looking forward to it. I'll have to check out the C64 thing too, but I'm not a very big fan of any of the computer emus in general because it takes ages to set anything up. Later, ~Rx
  21. I saw the bow man. It was pink and frilly and you wore it on your head when you thought nobody was looking. Don't worry bro. I won't tell nobody. Your secret is safe with me.
  22. Seriously people.... you got to try this out. It's like playing Tetris on a roller coaster. Lockjaw: The Overdose
