  1. Jesus God Almighty look at the size of that font!
  2. I hear your from New Zealand bro.... Ain't it like paradise out there? I live in crappy upper Midwest US with its crappy weather and its crappy jobs and its crappy traffic. Wanna trade places? I don't think I'd be sitting inside all day long doing this if it wasn't currently 10 degrees outside. I could use a tan. EDIT: Not knocking ya bro. Just saying that now that R5 is ready to ship, you should take a long ass break and smell the roses. Don't you enjoy biking?
  3. Bummer.... no way to just make it another thing that CoinOPS adds when it's doing its initial rom scan when you start it up the first time? Unfortunately I will not change the names of my roms. Other people have wanted me to do that because they don't like things like the "I" character after "Super Mario Bros I", but I was firmly against it. For every rom file I rename, I also have to rename Artwork folders, Videos, Saves (all 5 files including folder), gamefaqs, manuals, and any possible other Xtras for them to work properly with new and possible features in the future. I will also have to totally redo all the "Enhanced Artwork" folders after that is done because they are based off the old Screenshots packs. After that, I would have to hand test everything one at a time again to make sure they all worked together (A huge part of what I've been doing here is the testing I never talk much about) It's been about 4 years of rom collecting, renaming, testing going on here, so I can't reverse that in a month in time to release the Xtras on my timeframe. I realize you're busy now, and it would take a bit of work, but I do hope you consider doing this in the future. I believe the Xtras will long outlive the XBox, and will continue to be built upon when I'm gone. If you manage to seriously get a multi platform player out of CoinOPS I think it will outlive the box as well if somebody comes alongs and ports it to a more powerful machine. It would be nice if this didn't require 100 additional GB space and a lot of conversions to get it to work. Who knows... maybe by that time we'll all have 2GB hard drives on our boxes for 40 bucks and people will have done all the conversions for us. EDIT: BTW... all of these videos you guys are asking for are already made. Between the SNES and Genesis alone there are over 3,000 videos, so this includes as many prototypes, hacks, translations, Unlicensed, Europe and Japanese roms as the team could find that were playable. If you can wait until March 15th, you could just use mine. If somebody wanted to really help and make videos in the mean time, they should focus on the 130 or so Game Boy Advance videos that still need to be done. The only other system that needs them is the Atari 800 and I think Stupot1 pretty much has that covered.
  4. Is there any way you could make the emulator accept the video names we've already established if I were to give you a complete list of the Xtras names for roms for the systems you're adding? That way it could recognize either the matching file name, or the Xtras name if there is no matching video name. I would imagine that in the end this little bit of code tweaking would not only save everyone a ton of space on their drives, but it would also save time converting the video names.
  5. Are you referring to me when you say that? What builds?
  6. "this stuff is pointless as sorry for what is happening" Could somebody give me the King James translation? Much appreciated.
  7. So with the R4 release, are we limited to only two folders for roms? It seems like it automatically loads anything from D:\Roms and then only allows you one selection for an alternate romfolder instead of the usual four choices.
  8. Loading everything from one GUI would be nice, but I don't particularly care for the way that a MAME emulator handles things like rom names. I also don't like being stuck with only the skin that BP made. It's nice, but I much prefer Gilles' Dynamic PMIII skins over any CoinOPS skin I've seen so far. Plus you get to resize everything on your own with the XPORT skins. You're not forced into anything. Plus BP never adds anything I'd like to see and talks to me like I'm a moron when we chat, so I know that things I want to see in the future would probabaly be "REM'd out" like he said earlier in the thread. I can't support his vision. But you guys have fun with it.
  9. Sure... if you don't add the games they won't show. But you've made an option to only display Arcade games, right? Seriously man... your emu is beloved for its ability to play Arcades, and always has been. I respect that you're branching out, but there should be an option that would just filter everything out if somebody had other stuff on accident that they didn't want to see here. I really hope you do make a one-stop-emu-shop with this someday. More power to ya.
  10. Im' a big fan of the more subtle emulators that allow for the videos and artwork to speak for the game. Nice work with that here.
  11. That's cool. If it can be disabled, then there isn't any issue with it at all. You've set up filters though so people can see just Arcade games alone without any console games, right?
  12. So not in the romname, but in the display name. Gotcha Why would you decide to do that? I'm sure there are probably better ways you could conceive of separating console games from arcade games. I wish this would happen on XPORT emus soon. I really want to display the full synopsis name for the games instead of the filename.
  13. wouldn't it be... SNES_SuperMarioWorld* or something like that?
  14. That's fine. I realize that things are going to be advanced after I'm done working on the Xtras. If I can get that pack together to work with current official releases of both CoinOPS and FBL than it will be a great start for people to add on as the emulators continue to be developed. Like I said, I'm not interested in the console stuff here, just the arcade stuff. I'm sure your emu plays them beautifully, but because of the difference in naming conventions I have no desire to duplicate videos and artwork for your project on my box. That's an extra 20 or 30GB and likely more as you continue to add games. No point in that, when the XPORT emulators play that stuff just fine and Madmab is a genius and is easy to work with and get new features put in. If somehow they could use the same naming conventions, I'd be putting it together so your emu could use the same video files that we already have. EDIT: That being said, do you or anyone else here have datfiles for "CoinOPS reignite R3 Standalone"? EDIT2: I think with some recent developments and certain individuals I've been speaking with that the Xtras project will continue to go on after I'm done. Hopefully many years from now if we're all lucky. Perhaps somebody who is a huge CoinOPS fan that plays all the new SNES/Genesis/etc. roms that are added will convert the videos/artwork and other Xtras to work with your emulators in the future. I would like that. I have a large enough hard drive that it would accomodate it if somebody put the time in. I just have to wrap up my own work in the near future and focus on other things in the real world, so I can't do it myself. There will always be room and methods of distribution available for anybody who puts the work into this endeavor and desires to share it with the community.
  15. Okay, well I guess that is the answer then. I need whatever there was for your last official release, likely before you added the console stuff. I'm just looking to put a pack together that will work with both the newest version of CoinOPS and FBL together, without any of the console roms which are already perfectly emulated on other emulators and have full Xtras support already. What is the name of your last stable and official build? I can't keep track since it changes names all the time.
  16. Then were do you get this stuff then? Are you the only one with a Box that can play everything? I can't believe that's the truth or nobody would be following this thread.
  17. I just need a dat man. Making one from the exe is pointless. I can get those anywhere. I want somebody who has compliled a good working list of games to take 5 mintues to make a dat. If you're too busy to do that, then ignore my posts and somebody will come around and do that for me.
  18. I'm not looking to start a new project. I'm sure most of the work has already been done. I'm only interested in the Arcade stuff too, not the console stuff, since we can't have everything named the same. I just need somebody to point me in the right direction. Is there anybody helpful reading this that would care to chime in? Obviously I'd be better off talking to the wall than to continue with this line of questioning. EDIT: I guess what I'm asking, is could somebody who has the entire collection that is "official" take the 5 minutes it will take to make a datfile for me in CLRMAMEpro? It's really annoying that I have to have this opposition anytime I ask for something as easy to do as put a datfile together.
  19. Yeah... good luck finding anybody who knows where to get it if it's out there though. I also want to add a bunch of games I'm sure you didn't add, so I want to know exactly where to start, and that would be with a current list of supported games.
  20. I know you're a busy man, but if you could find the time to update the dats, or have one of the helpers in here do that, it would really help in getting me started.
  21. Well I'm planning on being done with my work in about 45 days which won't really leave me any time for putting that together. The videos/artwork will be available easily enough though when that time comes and should be pretty easy for somebody to put something together. I think just between Genesis and SNES we have about 3,000 videos or some crazy number like that, so you'll have plenty to choose from. It's a bummer we couldn't use the same names. I suspected that was the problem in the first place. Is there a newest datfile laying around with the Arcade roms you've included? I'd like to start getting the MAME/FBL arcade videos packs put together. I have the HD videos, and there's about 4,000 of them. Later, ~Rx
  22. Any reason you went along with these names for the roms? MDRIVE_32xBlackthorne MDRIVE_32xDOOM MDRIVE_32xKnucklesChaotix MDRIVE_32xKolibri MDRIVE_32xMortalKombatII MDRIVE_32xPitfallTheMayanAdventure MDRIVE_32xPrimalRage MDRIVE_32xStarWarsArcade Just wondering, because that means that there would have to be 2 separate sets of videos if you wanted video representation for them in CoinOPS as well as the console emulators. I suppose you'd need the same for artwork too. EDIT: I did just reduce the size of my video files by more than half using an audio compression feature in our little WMV to XMV converter which saved us about 52GB. It would be a shame to have to give up 15-20 of those freed up GB to house clones of the videos/artwork because they have to be named differently from emu to emu.
  23. Nah. It's not fighting. Sometimes cbagy just needs his head thrown through a wall or two and since my pimp hand isn't strong enough to reach through his monitor, I FEEL THE NEED TO SHOUT IT OUT AT HIM!!!!!! Some people cut themselves..... I'd like to think this is a lot healthier. Besides, cbagy likes it. Nothing personal here, even if we say stuff that sounds like it some times. We've been beating each other up for a while now. He's got a sense of humor though and that goes a long way. It's cool cbagy. Everyone is entitled to be wrong if they want to. Freedom is the ability to say "I Wont"
  24. Madmab's emus work fine for the remedial kids too. If they don't want to put the effort into it, or want just the barebones setup, they won't even notice the new code. This stuff is put in for people who want a total multimedia experience with their emus instead of one song on loop in the skin with nothing but a title shot and maybe a video playing. If you don't care about features, by all means you can go to the trouble of renaming everything if you really have a stick up your ass about my naming conventions. You'll find that it's pointless when we'll be able to display the names in the synopsis though. Also if you're not using my hand tested roms, you have no idea if they're actually going to work when you fire them up. I wish you luck with that. EDIT: There's nobody holding anyone hostage with the romnames. I'm no genius, and I don't pretend to be one and I COULD do it if I wanted to. Anybody COULD do it themselves if they wanted to as well. Why do all that work though when the emulator is going to display the full, correct romnames based off of the synopsis file? Names that many times are not possible on the rom file name because of XFAT limitations. I really don't know how many times I have to tell you that the rom name is JUST A PLACE HOLDER. What's so hard to understand about that? You've seen it for years with MAME. Try to wrap your head around the idea that the MAME concept can work with other emulators as well.
  25. Read my last reply cbagy. You're going to need to rename a ton of other stuff too if you plan on everything working right. Like I've said before, when the synopsis function is fully working, the romname will just be a placeholder anyhow and you'll probably end up cursing yourself for all that time you put into renaming everything. Or not..... When it's ready you can just download the entire thing and FTP it over when you've changed your mind.
