  1. Hey Gilles, Yeah. I post in here too every once in a while. That forum has been dead for over a day now. It's too bad because it's been having no problems lately. I wonder what's up because it's totally dead now. Usually when this happens it's just really slow and times out requests a lot. Oh well... hope it's back up again soon. When it's back up again, ask (or I will) BombBloke if he can use some of his code wizardry to convert the pics to separate folders. In the Gameboy/Gameboy Color/Gameboy advance I did my first complete overhaul to the screenshots to verify that every boxart was labeled 0001.png, every title shot is 0002.png, every action shot is 0003.png, and every cart/cd/disk is 0004.png. We may have to drop the alternate boxes/carts/screenshots for roms with more than one game on them, but we'll get to that at some other time. Maybe we could have multiple screenshots or boxart in their respective folders if there are alternates. (I'd have to do that manually, but it shouldn't be too bad). Do you think mad will be able to do this if the pics were in different folders? I'm surprised it can't be done if the pics are all named correctly, but if doing all this extra work is what it takes to get it done I can spend some time on it and hopefully BB can make that conversion program for us. BB has made two awesome codes so far. One of them has saved me hours now. It takes all of the PNG boxart files i have and renames them to 0001.png and puts them in folders with the exact name I gave the images before the convert. The other, which I haven't tried out yet, takes all the roms you have in a specified folder and makes cutfiles for them so you can load the rom straight from XBMC. I'm sure he could come up with something. Later, ~Rx
  2. Great work kenshiro, Any plans to include video support (XMV or WMV files)? I have 4 DVDs of arcade game videos that I'd love to see put to use on the XBox between FBA and MAME. If you get it working, I'll get all the videos ready for a release. Later, ~Rx
  3. I've got a lot of plans for this stuff in the future. When I came to the scene, there was so much still unorganized. So many things to go through. Probably millions of moves and renames and re-orgainzations have gone into this project to get everything to match up with the datfile romnames. I want to eventually put out there what has never been created before. A single torrent that has all of this stuff combined. One that allows the user to get only the things they are looking for from it. We're not there yet, but the time will come. In the mean time, megaupload is a good a place as any, and more often than not it's faster than a torrent, even though it involves a more hands on approach. Check out the vids. Not all the emulators in their current release can support them yet, but NES, SNES, Genesis and LYNX are a great start. Enjoy, ~Rx
  4. Anybody know if BP added "allowance mode" or got some help getting video previews on MAME yet? I've got 4 DVDs worth of AVI files ready to be converted for support for his emus. I'm posting it here because I don't want to clutter his thread if he already does and this is the only thread I'll remember checking next time I get back. PS... check out the new developments on the Xtras at the other site. We could use help making Gameboy, TG16, and SMS/Game Gear videos if you have some free time. Thanks, ~Rx
  5. Gameboy/Gameboy Color/Gameboy Advance Torrent-zipped datfiles for over 2,300 games released on the thread now. Also more than 7,000 images in over 2,300 files released in the artwork pack. Pretty much plug-n-play if you know your way around the XBox. Over 1,700 videos made for it, with 600 more needed before a video release is available. Enjoy, and let me know if you want to help. Later, ~Rx RessurectionXtras and Compatibility Lists
  6. Genesis, 32x and Sega CD artwork and videos released. Check them out. Got a full Xtras set of NES, SNES, Genesis, LYNX, Coleco and others and soon to be much more. Gilles has some badass skins available now too that you'll be able to use in their full capacity in the near future when the NES public beta comes out. Take a look in the XPORT section of the forum and say hi to madmab and Gilles9999 for their tireless efforts of balancing work, family, friends and their devotion to the project. Say hi to Mega_Man_(?) and Horscht too and thank them for the thousands of videos they've made for all of us above and beyond the most complete contribution to emulation Xtras that is emumovies.com. If you use the Xtras, I implore you to check out that site and contribute to their cause. They've truly saved thousands of hours of their lives collectively to bring this to everyone, free of charge, with no more satisfaction out of it than being a part of something that they feel very passionate about. From the very simplest arcade rom from the mid seventies in MAME, to the very greatest release the XBOX 1 has ever seen, this is a museum that many people will want to have today, and many years from now. It's the beginning of the perfect emulation experience. Sure.... the kids would have to find HD images and make HD videos of all the games for their 200" TVs, but what we got now is a hell of a start. Keep an eye out for a public release of the newest mendafenx_nes. Dual Previews. Dynamic Skins. 100% of every video and artwork for every rom included in the datfiles. (Don't ask where to find roms, because they're not available with this collection) And, of course, thanks to XPORT and NES and all of the coders that I don't know their names back to Nesticle's day. Enjoy, ~Rx P.S. Good to see BP still kicking ass on MAME.
  7. Hey BP, We did talking for about a year now of a "dummy proof" mode in XPORT emulators. It now seems that we may get something similar to the original concept that seemed out of reach before. Now our idea is to have two levels of "lockdown" on the emulator which would enable different features. The first would be some basic things that are annoyances while playing a game like taking screenshots and adding and deleting favorites to the list out of the game or deleting roms to the trashbin. The second one though is like a total lockdown. It would only allow the user to play the game with its current configurations instead of being able to change anything. The only way to open all other options back up would be to turn this function off in the Utilities menu. I think with a system like that in place that people could have their cake and eat it too... I love the idea of giving people the ability not only to use every single tool ever provided with a MAME emulator to the end user, but also giving them the ability to turn all of that off so other people don't flock their crap up. Happy everyone... right? That's why I do it. Otherwise, I'd just keep this crap to myself. ~Rx EDITED TO LAUGH: "flock their crap up"......... yup...... that's what I said.
  8. Hey BP. Hope you don't mind me posting your quote, but it's the first time I seen it and I think it's great. Crystal driver.... SF1 Fixed... that awesome name banner (props to the artist).... I don't have time to read the whole thread..... so how's it coming with the possibilities of video preview? I've got about 20GB of videos for arcade games that I could start putting together if it seems like this might happen. And how about the "Allowance" mode. My apologies if you've already added it, but I've been pretty busy with my work and haven't had a chance to try your new releases out yet. I just didn't see it mentioned here so I brought it up. Everything else sounds awesome man and I feel much better doing my work while you do yours and stuff just keeps improving all the time on all fronts. Later, ~Rx
  9. Hey everybody. We've completed the NES Xtras (well... the videos and artwork and datfiles anyways....) We've still got to get the manuals and a few other Xtras out there too. Check out THIS THREAD for updates. You can also find links to download over 1,170 videos and artwork for more NES games than you would ever imagine having on your box. They're all organized in detail, making it almost an adventure spotting hidden gems among all of the games brought to us from around the world. All Xtras for games that are original and in english are included. Tons of translations and update hacks included as well, along with prototypes, unlicensed, pirated and other Xtras. There is also a project going on where we're compiling a synopsis of each game that will be viewable by pressing down the Right joystick. Any help anyone can offer on that is greatly appreciated. Enjoy the Xtras..... hope to see you give back to the community, ~Rx EDIT: Who's a guy gotta pimp slap to get his warning over 10% in this biatch?
  10. Sorry to hear BP went through that too. Somebody did that to my spreadsheets so I had to cut them off from the public. I've only been sharing them with people working on the project with me now. Nice thing is, Google does a pretty good job allowing you to go back to a previous version if somebody is a jag like that. Excited to try your new release BP. I've had my hands full so I haven't given it a shot yet. Take it easy, ~Rx
  11. Sure there is. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=657322 I released it 3 months ago. My bad..... I've been testing so much, I forgot which emus you made it for already. I'm wondering that too man. I got 4 DVDs worth of MAME previews waiting to be released to the wild.
  12. Thanks dr99. Me too. Happy to share it with everyone. It's impossible to find a good XBox set where all the names are under 43 characters. Hope it saves you a lot of time so you can do other things instead of spending all your time doing this. Enjoy.... There's not a neogenesis with vid support yet. It's coming though. check out the XPORT section in the other forum. ~Rx
  13. No problem... I didn't know anything about it until NES added it to his ZSNESXBox about 3 months ago. Now I have about 3,000 vids so far and they're great. (Got tons just waiting for an emu release that supports them) And the "dual preview" emus and skins that are starting to come out are great. So far, we have video previews on SNES, Turbo Grafx 16, NES and Atari LYNX. Lots of exciting work going on now and a lot of help needed. Check out the link for more info. Later, ~Rx
  14. I know some of you go by different names here and already know about this, but I figured I'd share here as well. Tons of work put into this so far and hoping for more help as I keep up on it. Let's work together and get the Box doing all that it was meant to do when it was born..... http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/3/10/5...y5m_3587863.jpg All the details are there. If you have any questions or would like to help, I'd prefer if you posted there. I haven't been here for a few months at least, so I might not get to you right away if you post in this thread. Either way it's cool. Everything's eventual. I'll get to you either way. Regards, ~Rx
  15. Glad to see this is still being worked on. I'm busy putting perfect screenshot/title screenshot/boxart/cartridge packs on XPORT emus and I'm currently converting over 700 SNES videos to xmv format for previews in NES's new SNES emulator. (All Atari systems and the NES are completed now and they look great) So I'm a little busy to work on this at the moment. Cool spreadsheet. If I get some time I might give some input. I've got plenty of notes on keymapping fixes and other stuff. I thought you needed a spreadsheet, but it looks like that's already taken care of. What exactly are you looking for BP? I don't want to waste any time doing things that aren't going to help your project. Let me know, and I'll get to it when I can. Converting these videos for SNES takes a crazy amount of time so I'm sure I can work on it during the downtime. ~Rx
  16. Somebody tell me what BP is looking for. I haven't kept up with the thread for a while. I probably have a spreadsheet compiled already with a lot of testing done that could be comared against when others test. If I've got what he's looking for I'll release it.
  17. I won't get around to it for a while man, but if that is what I think it is, I can't wait to try it. I always figured I'd get around to Mugen and Linux when I finished my rom collection someday, but having it nice and easy is going to be great. Thanks for the post, ~Rx
  18. Nice to see you're still working on this.
  19. Might be true dr99.... I never once used the UI options. Somebody back in the day said that it might not work on one game but might change all of them and even though I've learned a ton since then, I never really thogut about it again. Thing was, I started thinking that I wanted to make fixes that everyone would benefit from and in my mind the only place to do that was the source. Turns out that I think I did a ton more work than I needed, but a lot of it is done on my discontinued build. Honestly, it's killing me to let my source go, but because I don't know the ways to make the other things that BP has made possible without years of learning C++ that I've just recently decided that I definately don't want to devote so I don't really have a choice. I really like all that I've done, but it just can't be added for my own build at this point unless I had the actual source since 100% of my changes are in the source code. I renamed every single rom so US games were perfect and Japan/Europe/World type roms had "(Japan/Europe/World)" attached to their names if people wanted to switch between "US Mode" and "Parent Mode" since some people voiced concerns that they might want the parent in, instead of the US rom like I wanted it. I also cleaned up all of the Years and Manufacturer names perfectly so they looked great in "Sort by Manufactuer" and "Sort by Year" mode. I was going to fix a few games which had the wrong number of players for the sort by player mode, but I hadn't figured out how to do that yet, or even really gotten to it is probably more accurate. I made changes to games that I wanted on a lot of the old drivers like Pac-Man and Moon Patrol that automatically gave me the max amount of lives without having to go into UI options to do it, also the best options for extra lives (5 lives for Pac-Man woot!)..... plus with all the cocktail flipping changes I was making I also made every game that benefited from them automatically start in cocktail mode (which didn't flip the screen, but it did switch control for the second player to the second joystick). Games like Bagman, I even had to change the native rotate code to flip the screen because both players were upside down after making the flip change effecting it.... Even thought I'm letting it go, it still was an awesome experience being able to manipulate as much as I had. I learned a ton and even though I'm letting it go there was a ton of little victories along the way that really felt good after droughts of nothing excellent coming for a long time. It was an awesome idea, I think, to fix the 2 player control flip, since before when you had to press start on the 2nd player controller and then you had to throw the controller back and forth between lives on games like Pyros (Wardner), Black Tiger, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Strider, Pac-Man, Bagman, Galaga, Centipede, Moon Patrol, etc. because both players were controlled on the first controller.* Now, if the fix BP put in works without any bugs and he keeps it in, all of these games will switch control perfectly from 1st player to 2nd player just like if you were playing XPorts NES emulator. Even though I put all that work into it, I'll gladly give it all up for BP's new fixes that I can't add, particularly if I can make an awesome patch that will add all the games he doesn't want with all the keymapping fixed on them. Glad I could suggest some good things to put in and I hope to be able to contribute more to the project now that I've learned a little. Regards, ~Rx * My brother hated flipping the controller. I didn't like it either, but it never bothered me much, but I thought that other people playing it two players might have people they know that thought it was lame. That's when I came up with the disabling screenflip idea to get it to work since cocktail did flip control to the 2nd player. Turns out it's just five minute of code, but since I don't know crap, it took me over a month to get 300 of them working. Any game like Galaga with bullets both ways I was never able to figure out. Other ones like Pyros I started to figure out, but I was doing major hacking on the video driver for that game and (i think) tigerheli to get it to work right. At one point I had the sprites inside out, and the graphics 80 percent off the screen. But hey... it was finally right side up for both players...lol. It's crazy how much you can screw up games when you unlock the power of the debug box.
  20. Seen your fixes in here BP. Good stuff. Is the two player alternating option fix going to be added this version as well, or is that still up in the air at this point?
  21. Fair enough BP.... How would you like the keymap and other stuff presented? Should I post the relevant code in here with the descriptions on why it should be changed? Or some other way? To whom it may concern... Dammit I'm dead again. Who killed me this time? BTW... I don't recommend using the pimp slap. As funny as that crap is, it's only good for about 1-2 damage. Just like a Wop to bring a pimp slap to a chainsaw fight....
  22. That's what I thought you meant by dats, but I wanted to clarify. I know a lot about them as I've used them quite extensively since I've set up my XBox, and even years before when I was running emulators on the PC. Yeah.... they're level 1 of 10. Probably below that actually. I wasn't asking how to run roms through a dat, I was asking you to clarify a poorly worded sentence again. Thank you for posting a 50 line response about it though. I think.... I get..... the point. As far as HF, if he has a problem with me calling him that I'll stop. That is between him and I. Are you saying that you don't want me to call you BP anymore? Just let me know. For the record, I have no problem with you calling me Rx.
  23. Hehe.... I think we're having a bit of a communication breakdown or cross posting going on. I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass here, just want to make things absolutely crystal before I proceed with any work after your new build comes out. 1) "just build it from dats" - Though I have a general idea what you mean here, I don't want to be mistaken and do a bunch of stuff the wrong way. What exactly do you mean? 2) What are the names of the PC tools to alter keymapping or do the other changes? All I need are the names. I can say with 99% confidence that if it's on the net, I can find it. I can likely figure out how to use it on my own, but I hope you don't mind if I get stumped on something and I can ask you a question or two at that point.
  24. BP - Hoping you could clarify the "just build it from dats" statement for me. I'm really looking forward to being able to add a patch to your next release, but I know from experience that you won't accept work that isn't up to your exact specifications. I won't start work on this until I know from you exactly what you need me to do, cause I've already wasted too many weekends on this, especially now that you fixed the 2player alternating and I'm abandoning my build. Robert - Cool man.... Fumanchu - I'll take your silence as we have an understanding. As an act of good faith, I have removed the offending dialogue. Regards, ~Rx
  25. Not looking for a fight with you Fuman lol. I only changed real quick when I saw you because you're the one that got mad at me for posting about source in the other threads and you don't want me doing that anymore. Really, just a harmless ribbing is all it was. I've edited the very first post giving my apologies to HF, as he wasn't the inteneded recipient of the ribbing and I've also PM'd him, imploring his forgiveness for my careless and absent minded mistake. Now...... I will take that bit about your panties being in a bunch out of the title if you leave this thread peacefully and don't derail mine and BP's conversation. I will not post things you don't like in your thread, and you will not post things in my thread. Agreed?
