People on older Linux machines might want to check this out: http://m.peponas.free.fr/gngeo/ It's a plenty fast neogeo emulator that works on lower-end machines. Performance is comparable to NRX which is very good. I've tested this on a P166 MMX with 96mb ram (I compiled this package to use the optimised asm routines rather than the generic C ones) and managed to achieve framerates of abt 20-25 fps in 16-bit colour and full sound emulation, which is quite impressive. The down sides of this thing are that: - it doesn't have many of the features in modern emus like network play, - is command-line activated (like MAME) - and the default ROM driver database doesn't include a lot of the newer games, which means you have to write them yourself. Overall, the impressive performance outweigh the cons and I'd highly recommend it to any Linux user.
