Akheron Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I remember I played Donkey Kong religiously for the SNES, and then when i got an N64 i play Jet Force Gemini for endless hours. No other games really stick out in my memory.
Agozer Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Donkey Kong Country. Man, that game had everything.
KyokugenKiss Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 when chrono trigger came out, i was in elementary school, i remember graphically it blew my mind, and as i got older i never seemed to tire of the game
stf Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Growing up ? Hmm, a long time ago.I played Shinobi a lot in the arcades, and when outun was released I got mad (in those times car games didn't have a lot of graphics elements, outrun brought a lot to the genre).I loved Ghosts & Goblins, Commando, Grysor (Contra) on Amstrad CPC, Giana Sister, Hybris, Shadow of the Beast, Battle Squadron on Amiga 500.Then I finished growing up, but continued to love a lot of games.
Diso Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Sonic games over here. I had a genesis for the longest time and I must have beaten them a couple of times every year
Lucandrake Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Same as Diso, I pretty much only grew up with Sonic.
Devia Eleven Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Mortal Kombat II for the Sege Genesis.
Akheron Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Oh yeah, i remember now. I used to go over my friends house every day and play Sonic for the Genesis. We used to beat the crap out of the console, smashing the cartridge in thinking it would make it work...which it did most of the time. Unfortunately all that smashing resulted in the untimely death of that console....
GodPigeon Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 MY younger years it was Super Mario world, i used to speed trial that game and see which day i could beat it entirely. After that it became Megaman X6.
Devia Eleven Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I had a rather queer experience with Sonic The Hedgehog. I played Sonic The Hedgehog 2 first, before playing the first version. It made me upset because when I played Sonic The Hedgehog after I played the sequel, I could not spin dash. I never knew why I could not but to me as a child, it made the game play very unorthodox and sluggish.
Chaotica Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I was a slave to Mortal Kombat 1,2 & 3. I also played Street Fighter 2 religiously. On my Amiga, I loved Gods, Speedball 2, and R-Type 1 & 2. Plus other shooters and platformers. Ah, those were the days.
Inky Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 the moment street fighter II came out on the snes and later champ. edition on the genesis. I was playing that game for hours every day with a group of about 8 really tight friends. since we lived in the desert it's so damn hot outside in the summer you just want to stay indoors. so we'd have epic street fighter and MK tournaments, and play magic: the gathering until the sun went down, then off to the lake or some other teen hang out for regular teen shenanigans.
L.S.D Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 SFII on arcade. I blew my monthly allowance on it. Daily. At some dark, dank arcade.
Rawrthness Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Donkey KongFinal Fantasy 2&3Chrono Trigger I played those games like it was my destiny.
gavin19 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Although I had been gaming on my Spectrum 128k and Master System for years before I got a hold of my SNES, it was SF2 that I spend a silly amount of time playing. Ironically we had just moved house a few months prior to me getting the SNES, so a lot of close friends fell out of touch and I ended up playing mostly solo. I think that's when I started to appreciate single player games a lot more and still do to this day. Really if I think about it I've been playing SF in one form or another ever since - Super, Super Turbo (SNES), Alpha 1/2 (Saturn), Alpha 3, SF3 (DC) and now SF4!
