  1. "Banned ROMS" refers to ROMS less than 3 years old. The MAME developers do not officially support games less than three years old. Other emulators developers, like the FBA team, follow this rule as well. You can find versions of these emulators that support the newer games, but these are not "official" releases.
  2. I got an e-mail from djohng today. He says he is cleaning up a few things in the code and having to get ready for visitors this weekend.
  3. I've already made the offer to host via PM. He has accepted and I have sent him the information he needs. Just waiting for him to upload the files. It will likely be up sometime tonight (in the next 4-5 hours). But that's just a guess. I sent him the information late last night, so I assume he simply hasn't had the time to read my e-mail and/or to upload yet
  4. So are those the names that the ROMS in your build use?
  5. Wait... what is with these S ROMS? Do we need these to run these games? A lot of these listed here aren't named as they should be according to the MAME sets. Also, what are S ROMS exactly? What information do they contain? I ask because aren't all these overdumps? Why are they so big?
  6. The one I have is 128 KB (6d9d4d0a). Does the title screen display correctly for you?
  7. Well, Metal Slug 3 works now, but on the title screen all I see is the title. There is no "Insert Coin" or any of the other text (company logos, etc...). The S ROM I'm using has a different CRC than the one FBAXXX is looking for, but my S ROM is straight from a perfect MAME set of Metal Slug 3. So I need to know if this is an issue with my S ROM or if everyone is having this issue. Also, matrimnd does work now, but the sound is still glitched (lots of static at times). I expected this though because the 8-02 version has this problem also. Manto said that he screwed up the drivers in that game and was going to fix it in the next release... but this was before they decided to pull support for new games. So does anyone (PRican, + T +, etc...) know what the problem is? Can you tell by just looking at the drivers what is messed up?
  8. It looks like mslug3nd.zip and matrimnd.zip have the same issue. Perhaps you should go ask on FBAXXX forums why a game like mslug3nd works on their version but not when you compile your own. Unless PRican has an idea what is going on.
  9. Maybe you could help out +T+ and let him know to to fix those drivers *hint* *hint*
  10. So you have your own compile up and running? I'd help out, but I don't have the required software yet.
  11. I have a question about compiling. The FBAXXX binary comes with two XBEs... the MAME version and the "standard" version (not sure what to actually call that second one). But I only remember seeing one source. So if someone attempts to compile the source, will they end up with 2 xbes or 1? If one, which one? Also, are we free to discuss compiling on this forum as long as we don't distribute any of the resulting binaries here? Or do we need to take this discussion elsewhere?
  12. OK, I've still got the old sources. If anyone needs it just send me a PM.
  13. I think I've got the source, but I don't see a NeoGeo folder. What file(s) do we need exactly, PRican?
  14. Did you miss the big debate over at X-S a few weekls ago? Lantus discovered that FBAXXX had the ini flag to enable the "banned" games and called Gogo out on the forums about it and notifed the FBA developers. Then I made a comment to him about the 3-year rule and a big debate broke out. In the end Gogo gave into the pressure and decided to remove the drivers. There are several member here capable of doing so, I just hope someone will. Despite Lantus' claim that "any monkey" can add drivers, that's simply not true. I'm a microbiologist for crying out loud, I don't know a damn thing about adding drivers or compiling software... just like Lantus' wouldn't know a damn thing about running the machines or tests at my place of business. But if someone would write a nice tutorial then some of the rest of us may be able to figure it out. But Ireally like your idea for a patch. Couldn't someone just make an IPS patch using LunarIPS and release that? Like you said, that seems to be perfectly legal under then license. All someone would have to do is compile their own verion with the drivers added and then take the original xbe and their new xbe and use LunarIPS to make an IPS file by comparing the two. That part seems simple enough. Anyway, if someone does compile their own then I think it should be distributed via personal messages. I hate the idea of becoming X-S jr. too, but I also don't think we should risk bringing unwanted trouble to whoever does make a new version or Emu1.
  15. Honestly, this thread shouldn't have been created. With that whole mess on the X-S forums it probably would have been better to ask PRican via a PM. Some of those license Nazis do read this forum from time to time and I'm sure PRican doesn't want any heat coming down on him like it did Gogo.
  16. OK... what dashboard are you using? You need to make sure that your XBox and your PC are on the same network. For example, my XBox IP is 192.168.0.3 and the NIC in my PC that it is connected to is 192.168.0.1. In my Evox settings my gateway is set to my PC's NIC IP (192.168.0.1) and my subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
  17. I doubt it... I've never seen one. Just go spend $15 and buy a crossover cable.
  18. I'm running it on FBAXXX (MAME dump version) for the XBox. I just want to make sure I have the most accurate version possible with that emulator.
  19. I say no dirt. It's a hole, it can't have anything in it. Even if it had just a little, then the hole would no longer be 5x5x5.
  20. James, Would you mind posting the CRCs for your set? I've got a bunch of patches here, but no idea which CRCs I should be trying to get.
  21. How do you toggle it using Uni-bios?
  22. But none of the SH games forced you to play in first person either. The only time you used the Y-axis in previous SH games is if you used the "search view" button to look around, but that really wasn't necessary most of the time.
  23. Yeah, which version are you using? The default.xbe? If you remove that one, remove the two DAT files it created, rename the MAME dump to default.xbe, then restart the emulator it will make new DATS for the MAME dump version.
  24. Well, it looks like a lot of yours still have bad names. Have you tried to have RomCenter "fix" any of your ROMS yet? You can right click on any ROM and select "Fix game" and it will do all the renaming for you and remove any ROM files it's doesn't recognize (it stores them in a folder called "archive" in it's install directory). But one note... RomCenter will sometimes tell you that you are missing BIOS files (i.e like uni-bios) and it will want to import those into each rom individually. That just takes up extra space. You only need one copy of BIOS files inside the "neogeo.zip". So the best way to do it is to select the ROM you want to fix in the left window and then highlight the individual ROM files you want it to fix in the right window. Right-click the ROM files and select "fix game". This way it will only fix the ones you highlight. Or just make sure you don't have your neo-geo.zip in the ROM path it's scanning so that it has no way of pulling in the BIOS files. Anyway, the first thing you should do is have it fix all the bad names.
  25. Well, I have some of the files you need. I've set up an FTP with a zip file containing all the files I have that you need. Some may need to be renamed (CRCs match). Check your personal messages for FTP information. And edit out the files as you get them so we can keep track of what you still need.
