I also have Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away in the original Japanese VHS releases. Before I even knew who Miyazaki was, my relatives in Japan sent the Mononoke VHS (in Japanese, no sub, no dub) when it was released in Japan. My grandmother (my stateside link to the japanese side of my family) and I didn't know what to make of it. A few years later, one of my (Japan native) Japanese professors made a big deal out of how Miyazaki is a huge name in Japan, and it finally made sense. My relatives ask us to send them all the new releases by the big names stateside (Spielberg's big stuff, etc), so this must have been their version of same. When Spirited Away came out, they sent that too.
