(THanks to nyuuka for mame32plus)

HI, why is it that when I play KOF 2003 on mame32 plus, my sound CLIPS, or ]sounds skippy, than I loose some frames, this happens very often, mostly when doing supers.

could someone, tell me what to add in direct 3d, or lower my sound cpu?

what should I do..to avoid this problem,, this also happens with metal slug 5 for winwak,,,but when I use neoragex, my garou mark of the wolfs runs smoothly.

any help, on what can I do to my lap to make it faster or anything?

thanks in advanced,

here are some of my specs......

Reading through all this, why do many of you want the game on Nebula or Kawaks? Is it due to graphics only? Mame is capable of doing graphic improvements too.

(Go to the properties of the rom and select the advance tab. Tick the "use directdraw" and then from the bottom right, select the image enhancement. Kreed 2XSal.)

Apart from that, it is fine on mame with me.

Indeed, and a "recommending a P4" is just nasty.

Sure, everyone has lots and lots of cash handy just to upgrade their computer...

Time for a change people, get your comps upgraded. If you're planning to play all them Next-Generations Games like Half-Life 2, and Doom 3, and with the slight possiblity of Halo 2 PC. That lame Radeon 8500 won't do you any good anymore. Unless you like playing at everything off, and lowest resolution.

No need to get that 3.20 GHZ CPU when a 2.0 works just as good :)

Update i have now updated my mame compile thanks to Andrew at Arcade@home

please note for some reason it wont work with the uni-bios so that means no console mode

the uni-bios works the problem is you cannot see it :)

you will not be able to play KOF2k3 on MacMAME because KOF2k3 uses a special banking technique that only the emu that came with the ROM can play it (just like Metal Slug 5 did). it is currently being figured out as i type this but more than likely it would only benefit Windows MAME users.

rom renaming more than likely wont cut it.

i am not sure about this. once the correct driver is worked out.those who compile MACmame should be able to ge it to run. maybe with some changes.

youre right, MAME code is portable. however, im trying to show him what he can expect later. judging by his post, you can clearly say he cant compile for his own (rom renaming?) and since majority here uses any Win32 MAME (Windows in itself actually), thats how i got the conclusion that only Windows users may get to enjoy the game in MAME.

Valve and ID softeware claim that you can run thier game on crappy computers so long as you have a 64 meg or higher video card. Can we say bullshit. My friend has that Doom 3 alpha leak and it barely ran on his computer until he figured out how to tweak the settings (All the options have to be tweaked in the console)

He was running it at the lowest possible visual settings on a

p4 1.8ghz

512 megs ddr ram

64 meg gforce 4 mx (and whatever other funky letters and numbers VC manurfacturers label thier products nowadays.)

and some other crap I dont want to bother mentioning.

basically he was getting about 30 fps by making the game look like it belonged on the PS1.

Im no expert on this subject but this is basically what I recommend you have minimally for both HL2 and DOOM 3:

P4 2.6ghz

512 megs DDR Ram (768 or 1 gig recommended)

4x agp 128 meg Radeon 9500 and up or equivalent (8x agp 256 meg Radeon XT or 9800 pro recommended)

16x dvd rom or dvdr or whatever your little heart desires

Any high quality sound blaster card

Win XP home or Professional with sp1

DX 9.0b or higher

High quality keyboard and optical mouse ( dont like dirty mouse balls ;) )

and whatever else you believe you need to support your gaming addiction

Anyways I had the future in mind and maxed out all my specs short of the processor (2.66 p4 with HT) because with the proper amount of ram and the right video card you should be playing those two games fine so long as your processor is in the 2.0ghz to 3.0ghz range. If you arent computer savvy and you decide to call dell you suck because any system with badass spec shouldnt cost you a fortune. My comp only cost be 800 bucks. The rest was spent on monitors and printers and such. but im sure if you get the same thing brandname like alienware or voodoo or falcon they are gonna rape you ten times in the but with excessively large foreign objects and steal your tvset. So stay away from the brand names and build your own computer,or buy the parts and have someone else build it if you dont know how to yourself.
