L.S.D Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Get the news here Along with Master Yoda, LucasArts worked the Vader apprentice from Force Unleashed into the fray as well (you’ll need to unlock this evil chap first, however). This isn’t that big of a deal to the non-Star Wars universe fans out there, but it still shows that Namco was at least going to some length in order to deliver a fresh fighting experience with Soulcalibur IV. Much more grandiose news, at least to those with a casual Star Wars appetite, is that the whole Xbox-Yoda, Vader-PS3 exclusivity thing was merely a disc data ploy. Vader will be available as a piece of DLC. Let the saber battle that every rabid Star Wars fan wanted commence. 'Nuff said.
gavin19 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Vader will be available as a piece of DLC Just as well, as Yoda is pretty much just a novelty, and Vader seems to be the only 1 of the 3 SW characters worth using.
Inky Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 the apprentice is pretty beast.vader looks slow and clunky in all the vids I've seen.
BlackKnight Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 Yoda is actually fun to play as, even if dirt cheap. From what my mate says about Vader, he isn't really fleshed out as a character and only has a bunch of clunky stupid moves that don't work together well. Btw, do they claim a source over that Vader DLC confirmation thing?
solidius23 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 the star wars characters are ok but they are so out of place in this game, the apprentice is just a cheap bastard. vader attacks way too slow, and according to sources yoda is useless. i would like to see some cool guest characters as dlc. i doubt it happens but a guy can dream.
Skythe Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Wasn't Star Wars a LONG TIME AGO in a galaxy far far away?
L.S.D Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Well, got my copy of SCIV yesterday (sorry BK, the call of the sword was too strong than the Hammer of Dawn). Started to use Yoda and practise on him a little bit. I would say Yoda is a cheap bastard and if at the right hands, he would be a cheap, devastating bastard. Most attacks won't hit him unless you hit low or hit him when he is in the air. He has mid-air cancels that enable you to react to opponent's movement if they side-step. Fun to use The Apperentice is a little bit overpowered IMO. In a few shots, you can destroy a piece of armour. And he has all the best Force power (lightning, Force Pull). Damn fun to use and cool-looking moves. The only other character I tried to use after that was Ivy. Man, I am so used to SC2's Ivy that SCIV's Ivy was too clunky. Trying to perform Summon Suffering was impossible (although I managed to do it for the XBLA's Soulcalibur) on the controller. Guess I need a Hori stick to nail that. All in all, I am having fun with it. Haven't try the Tower of Souls so no comment
BlackKnight Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 The Summon Suffering achievement was almost too easy to get in the XBLA SoulCalibur. So glad its harder now. I am getting more and more excited about this CaS mode- it seems like people are making a lot of interesting things and since they are based on core movesets it won't be quite as much BS as it was in SC3. Or so I hope. Anyway I really want this and hope it arrives today or tomorrow and that I don't have to wait through the weekend. UPS has flocked be around enough already.
L.S.D Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 You should have opt for Fedex. More reliable IMO. Like my Oblivion, send out from HK 2 days ago, and arrived yesterday. Fast.
GodPigeon Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Now i have a dillema Which system should i get Soul Caliber For? lol
BlackKnight Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 Which system should i get Soul Caliber For?This is one of those times where I'd say get the PS3 version if you've got it. Better visuals, performance. I'm getting the 360 version just because it's all I've got and I only have friends on Live, not PSN.

Although the loading is a little long when it tried to load 5 characters at once in Story mode, I do not see much difference in visuals. And the loading issue will be solved when autumn dashboard update is available.
Devia Eleven Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Why do people see these things as being meaningful? The graphics on the PS3 version are 0.000000001% better than the 360's graphics. Shouldn't you be worrying on more important matters such as online play, and a choice between Vader and Yoda?
