I can't speak for the source code as I'm not the programmer.
The program itself now works well, and I have no complaints.
All my previously-reported bugs have been fixed.
Well done Normmatt !!

If that hapened to me I'd be suing.
I hate it when they employ dumb fsks solely on their looks,
despite the fact there is empty space where the brain should be.
I hate MORONS !!!

OK... yes that all works exactly as you said.
Despite the touchscreen problem I managed to win!
After that it appears to freeze. Perhaps that's correct.

Finally I get time to do testing. Firstly I downloaded the 2 demos listed above (thanks ieremiou). Then, I'm removing the "dud" roms from the test area:
2d.bin : crashes emu
2dexample-arm9.bin : checkboard at top, nothing else
davr-arm9.bin : white screen
draw-arm9.bin : white screen
first.bin : crashes emu
lights.bin : crashes emu
mines-arm9.bin : starts but touchscreen not working after game starts
ship.bin, cube.bin, texture.bin, tri.bin : crashes emu
Now to test with "good" roms:
2d_emu : works
2dexample_arm9a : works
armwrestler.w1.arm9 and armwrestler.w2.arm9 : working in each window
battleshipds : works same as before, I haven't figured out how to get computer vs player
birds_arm9 : works
ship_emu, cube_emu, tri_emu : working
davr_arm9a : purple top, black bottom
drops_arm9 : works
DSmode4dc, DSmode4ep : working
DSnibbles : works
DSpaint : works, any colour selected in bottom half of palette will choose the colour above it (existing bug)
first1 : works
mcommand.arm9 : works, 2 lines of corrupt graphics. Not bad for a WIP
mines-arm9a : works
mode6.arm9 : works
pandaforth : no touchscreen
pongDS : works, still leaves "half-balls" scattered about
smantouch.arm9 : appears to work
sponge_arm9 : some graphical errors, assumed because its WIP
tetris-1p, tetris-2p : working
texture_emu : white square, textures not implemented yet?
tile02 : out by one character
under_pressure : still corrupt as before
tetris.nds : works
All other NDS files crash the emu
The screen has the X disabled which is good, but it can still be closed with Alt-F4.
Average speed 11-12fps. Almost all the bugs that appeared in the last 2 versions have been swept away. Impressive result, mic

DSemu v0.0.3b released!
Friday, 8th April 2005I've implemented the screen-flip bit in POWERCNT, so anything that uses that feature should work correctly now. In particular, the ARM Wrestler will appear in its right place, on the top screen. Also, regarding the opening of ROMs, I've attempted a hack at type selection; anything with an NDS extension will load in DS mode, and anything else will open as a GBA rom. I know it's buggy and it will break, but it should help a little.
In other news, Normmatt seems to have finished his configuration editor dialog. I haven't been able to grab his code and take a look just yet, but I shall do so for a release in the near future. That should help matters regarding the config file.
Wednesday, 6th April 2005
It's been a slow few days; there've been maybe a couple of bug fixes in the source, but not enough to warrant a new release. I am going to start tracking down the bugs in the CPU that seem to be stopping the majority of demos from running, though. It could be a long process.
I'm not sure that too many people were able to catch the hint in the last post, but the emulator does now have two CPU cores. The ARM7 doesn't actually do anything, and there's nothing else on the bus (a touchscreen controller, for example) for it to interface with, but it is there and executing. If only something actually ran, I could see it in action.
Regarding CVS, it has been out of date recently. Not to worry; I've updated all the existing files, and added in the new ARM9 and its associated files, so any checkouts from CVS should be current now.

The mamedevs have their own website.
Welcome to the official MAME development team site. This site is intended to be the official communications channel for the development team.At the moment, this site is in "beta" mode in order to get feedback on the new license and the other info that appears on the left-hand side. Note that most of the text from the old license didn't really belong in a license, and is now a separate document called About MAME. If you have feedback, please use the contact form to send it to the appropriate place.
What you will find here:
announcements of official releases
links to the official source code distribution
information on the MAME license and trademark
links to useful MAME-related sites
a means of contacting the team and some of the individual developers
What you will not find here:
binary distributions of MAME
message boards
chat rooms
On the left side of the page is all the mame legal stuff.

At last I got a download. And the full sorry tale can be revealed. Certainly that exe is a mp3 and it plays perfectly well, all 1:08 of it. Now there is a file called IMG.bmp, open it and you'll get the idea. You don't need to be able to read French either.
-
Thanks for the congrats guys, I appreciate it.

I am thinking of taking the big step and getting one of those instant messenger thingys. What one is the best one out of MSN, AIM or ICQ?
It will be running on a Win2000pro computer.

I've been made a Staff Member so that I can post the latest news on DS emulation. Thanks to GameCop and GryphonKlaw who arranged it.

I can't even download it, says its blocked. Looks like not worth the hassle. I can't even say "at least you got a song out of it". A well thought-out hoax involving 2 web sites and a couple of forums. At least we know, thanks guys.

This just came to my attention sorry if it's old news
Anyone know anything about it?
EDIT: I've got a web site address but due to some rom links I won't put it here - even though the links are broken.
-
Ok got it.
The DLLs are all identical and useless.
It needs Quesa.DLL which can be obtained from SourceForge
After that, it started up. Most functions missing due to the above DLL probs.
I clicked to open a rom and it has a "Compatibilty List" showing 29 games and if they work or problems they have.
Not much else I can do until those fixed DLLs arrive.
Here is a screen dump that is readable --> http://home.ripway.com/2004-11/202912/NDSE-2.jpg

where is this download link?

Take a second look and there is a screenshot... of the emu with no rom loaded... looks different to what we've seen before. I saved and blew up the picture but unable to make out any of the words. Can't do any more until I get back home.
-
When I looked at the thread in my first post I thought, "Here we go again", since no screenshots, and no-one could say it exists or works. The thing in it's favour is a different name. Should it become available, and working, then it's obviously a good thing and I would apologise. But, until then... I'm kinda skeptical.

Sorry this is so old but it shows e-m-u-l-a-t-e wasn't the only one.

Stressed? Perhaps you're right. I'll give it a rest for while. cya

New major version means I report on ALL roms
Firstly, I think something good was attempted and it didn't quite work out... drag a rom onto the EXE and it opens in DS mode, even for GBA roms... oops.
DS ROMS
2d_emu and 2dexample_arm9a : checkerboard at top, lava at bottom, cherries are missing
armwrestler.ds.arm9 and armwrestler.nds.arm9 : load in bottom screen, top is black. All tests pass OK.
battleshipDS : freezes at start
birds_arm9 : white screen
cube_emu, ship_emu, tri_emu, DSnibbles : black
DSmode4dc : text, no colours
DSmode4ep : text and blue screen
davr_arm9a : purple and black
drops_arm9 : blue and black
draw-arm9 : black
dspaint : bottom screen corrupt and no response
first1 : lava at bottom
lights : black
mines_arm9 : text appears, click on bottom and game appears, no further response
mines_arm9a : bottom is blue, click on top screen and it turns green, then no further response
mode6.nds.arm9 : black. when emu closed it crashes
pandaforth : keyboard missing and no response
pongDS : no change - same bugs (1) ball is square should be round (2) slows down to a crawl after first point (3) all text is missing including the scores (4) ball goes invisible near right side
tetris-1p : works, cannot change bg
tetris-2p : works, cannot change bg of top screen. use A and S keys for bottom screen
tile02 : starts then no response
under_pressure : text is missing
tetris.nds : runs, no text, 1fps. All other NDS roms crash.
Overall, no change from version 2g, except it all runs incredibly slowly.
---------------------------
GBA ROMS
ahawk : "list.cpp 43 memory error"
copperbars : works
fill1 : works (advance)
fontdisp : freezes during load (regression)
aroundtheworld and gbadevad : black
ht : works
maddness : freezes emu
At this point I was getting tired of the slowness. Task manager shows that DSemu takes 99% of the CPU at all times. The slowdowns make testing impossible.
This CPU hog problem, and speeds like 0.3fps needs to be fixed now as further tests are pointless.

I've been asleep. I'll have a look after work, in about 12 hours from now.

Testing of ideas 1.0.0.1
cannot drag a rom onto the exe
2d : blank
2d_emu : lava in bottom screen, top screen grey
2dexample_arm9 : top is black, bottom has checkerboard
2dexample_arm9a : top has lava, bottom has checkboard and cherries
armwrestler.ds.arm9 : top black, bottom has armwrestler screen. Fails many tests
armwrestler.nds.arm9 : same, except screens are swapped
battleshipsDS : Start bar too large and no response
birds-arm9 : top screen completely corrupt, bottom screen white, and frozen
cube_emu : works
davr_arm9 : black
davr_arm9a : top purple, bottom black
draw_arm9 : both screens white
drops_arm9 : both screens blue, no response
mode4demos : text, no colours
DSnibbles : intro screen appears, no response
first1 : top black, bottom has lava
lights: black
mines_arm9 : intro screen appears, no response
mines_arm9a : top black, bottom screen corrupt graphics, then no response
mode6 : black
pandaforth : screen is correct, no response
pongDS : works
ship_emu : works
tetris-1p : works, cannot change background colour
tetris-2p : works, cannot change background colour of top screen. Press S to change it on bottom screen
texture_emu : crash
tile02: screen appears, no response
tri_emu : works
under_pressure : works
all NDS roms give a black screen
The release notes say that arm7.dll should be loaded.... in practice it makes no difference that I could see.
The debugger still does nothing
The touchscreen still does nothing although it is supposed to work

Probably because they are demos. It's no problem to reload them.
