  1. I'll test them again, each opened as a DS rom on version 2c:

under_pressure.bin - black screen and emu crashes after a while

    2dexample-arm9.bin - same

battleshipDS-arm9.bin - shows opening screen, title and playboard

    cube_emu - black screen

    davr-arm9.bin - black screen

    draw-arm9.bin - same as under_pressure

drops-arm9.bin - top screen blue, crashes after a while

    mines-arm9.bin - crashes emu

    ship_emu.bin - black screen

    texture_emu.bin - black screen

    tri_emu.bin - black screen

The openGL doesn't work for me - even though my OpenGL screensavers work.

  2. I think every emulation site in the world knew of this release before I did.

    Some testing:

Hazuki011 (GBA) - This works at last. The background is there, the KO bar is there, the fighters are there and can be controlled. As far as I can tell, it's perfect. It shows I need a faster computer, a 500mhz celeron is too slow.

TetrisARM9 (DS) - Working. Press A to change the background colour.

Mortal Konsole (GBA) - A pong game. The sprites are correct at last. Only one bug, the screen to select the "consoles" doesn't appear, although you can steer the pointer around. Apart from that, another working game.

    Congratulations!!

  3. Thanks for your generosity. I downloaded most of them (at about 30kb), hopefully no-one was inconvenienced.

The results with "ideas" was quite promising. PongDS works, as do most of the non-interactive demos. Many others produce results of varying completeness. One problem is that the mouse doesn't activate the touchpad at all.

BattleshipDS-arm9 shows the title screen and blue waves. This demo is the only one that worked on DSemu. DSemu was also able to show the playboard. Neither emu worked past this point.

Next, I tried dualis (for the first time), however it could not find a working renderer, so no luck there.

Lastly, I dl'd HyperDS v3, but the zip file was corrupt. Need to look further as it has never been officially released.

  4. Went there, downloaded a number of demos.

On ideas, the emu crashed every time.

On dsemu, no crashing, but a blank screen every time.

    The demos used were 2D.bin, cube.bin, first.bin, lights.bin, ship.bin, texture.bin, tri.bin, tunnel.bin

Lastly I tried the acquired game on dsemu, and it crashed.

  5. 3. The open, close, play, pause, stop options all work.
    3. You seem implicity annoyed about that Close thing. Don't worry, I'll get on it at some point :D

Implicit... hmmm... I guess I did imply that.

ONE GAME works perfectly. It is called TetrisARM9.bin
Even with the new X/Y buttons? (I think DM has those do something with Tetris, but I'm not sure.)

Sorry I don't understand... What are X/Y buttons? What is DM?

I don't possess the DS or any other console - I just perform tests with the emus in the hope that it may help you somehow. The Tetris game may, for all I know, be missing layers and colours - but it does run and plays perfectly well.

This ideas emu also has no.ini file, and no log file.

It does have a second screen, but I've yet to see anything on it.

Perhaps it only works with a.nds rom. I don't have any of those.

The doco says that the mouse works as a touch screen - point at the screen and click left button to simulate a touch. Again, without a DS rom, I cannot try that.

  6. I downloaded and tested that iDeaS emu.

    1. It only supports bin and nds files.

    2. It doesn't read the command line, so you cannot drag a bin file onto the exe.

    3. The open, close, play, pause, stop options all work.

    4. The debugger does nothing.

I tested all my BIN files. They either crashed the emu or gave a blank screen.... except for ONE GAME that works perfectly. It is called TetrisARM9.bin

  7. Hmmm

You can open a dos window? That means that autoexec.nt and config.nt exist and valid. Those 2 files are in your c:\windows\system32 folder. Check them to make sure you're not loading something you shouldn't be. Paste them here and we can comment.

  8. version 2a... w00t !!

closing a rom still causes a crash

    gbacc.zip - black screen

hazuki011 - the missing graphics are now visible, but the boxers have vanished. The game is almost working!

    Mario.zip - black screen

Mortal Konsole - graphics are better but the players have vanished

santa-escapes - intro screen, followed by black screen

    sotb.zip - crashes emu

TetrisCA - a small blue mark and nothing else

thingpong - black screen. After a while the emu crashes. The splash screen used to work.

ws6demo - splash screen then nothing else

yathzee.zip - the game displays a crash message "Assertion failed 0 in file INT.C at line -40 message: Reached empty int this means you have an int on, but not set to a function. press any key to ignore but remember that video and vram recovery is unlikely." Pressing any key just brings this message up again.

    from the log.txt:

console.gba - zillions of undefined opcodes

santa_escapes - some unimplemented opcodes, 2 unpredictable, and 3 undefined

If you need more info on any of these let me know here

    As predicted.... http://www.mgforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36921

  10. Is the word MAME trademarked, or the stylised symbol, or both?

If the symbol, every site that displays it will need to obtain permission.

If the word, this will cause a lot of problems.

    1. Every site and that uses the word will need permission to do so

    2. Every site will not be able to host illegal roms (which will need definition)

    3. All emulators that have the word MAME in it will need permission, and must not emulate anything illegal

    4. Any site with the word in its url will need permission

    etc etc.

A very large can of worms is being opened.

In most cases I expect "MAME" could be substituted with "ARCADE", and yes the whole thing will be a giant pain in the ass.

What is legal and illegal may need to be properly defined once for all.... what a mess.

  11. Good work Agozer, Gryph, Two9A and Zid.

The first photo is hotlinked from the guys own ripoff site, www.ndsemu.com, which has already been castigated in:

    http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11584

The 2nd photo is also hotlinked, this time to dualis.1emulation.com which makes the guy a thief.

The first photo shows the version as 0.0.1a which as we know barely does anything.

    You're despicable.

    Good idea.

I've received many complaints about e-m-u-l-a-t-e which have said that he is not the true author of this application.

Once the actual author provides me with the proper credentials (PM or email) I will reopen this thread, but in the meantime, all this arguing back & forth is getting us nowhere.

All 3 threads have been closed. One thread was overlooked:

    http://www.mgforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35266

Again, thanks to everyone who confirmed my original thoughts, and worked together to remove e-m-u-l-a-t-e from the emulation scene.
