  1. MS have helped Oklahoma with a way to deal with nasties of viruses, phissing, spyware, maleware and its variants. (My bad the link is from Slyck Scratch http://www.okgazette.com/news/templates/co...p?articleid=423 writer is Ben Fenwick) The bad news is the lack of privacy while doing this. its intention is this Good "It’s supposed to protect you from predators spying on your computer habits, but a bill Microsoft Corp. helped write for Oklahoma will open your personal information to warrantless searches, according to a computer privacy expert and a state representative. Called the “Computer Spyware Protection Act,” House Bill 2083 would create fines of up to a million dollars for anyone using viruses or surreptitious computer techniques to break on to someone’s computer without that person’s knowledge and acceptance, according to the bill’s state Senate author, Clark Jolley." Bad " “The bill has a clear prohibition on anything going in without your permission. You have to grant permission,” said Jolley, R-Edmond. “You can look at your license agreement. It will say whether they have the ability to take that information or not.” But therein lies the catch. If you click that “accept” button on the routine user’s agreement, the proposed law would allow any company from whom you bought upgradable software the freedom to come onto your computer for “detection or prevention of the unauthorized use of or fraudulent or other illegal activities in connection with a network, service, or computer software, including scanning for and removing computer software prescribed under this act.” " Ugly " That means that Microsoft (or another company with such software) can erase spyware or viruses. But if you have, say, a pirated copy of Excel — Microsoft (or companies with similar software) can erase it, or anything else they want to erase, and not be held liable for it. Additionally, that phrase “fraudulent or other illegal activities” means they can: —Let the local district attorney know that you wrote a hot check last month. —Let the attorney general know that you play online poker. —Let the tax commission know you bought cartons of cigarettes and didn’t pay the state tax on them. —Read anything on your hard drive, such as your name, home address, personal identification code, passwords, Social Security number … etc., etc., etc. “I think in broad terms that is still a form of spying,” said Marc Rotenberg, attorney and executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington, D.C. “Some people say, ‘Well, it’s justified.’ I’m not so clear that should be the case. Particularly if the reason you are passing legislation is to cover that activity.” " Jury is still out The bill is scheduled to go back before the House for another vote. Will the Oklahoma House, on behalf of all computer users in the state of Oklahoma, click “accept”? Well if Oklaohma accepts will any of the other states? with DRM/CRAP and TCPA doing the rounds this could be the final blow if this goes through beyond Oklahoma to all the other states. But that is a big if.
  2. MS are good at rebranding peoples ideas just ask Xerox and Apple. Now BT gets make over and is now called Bit Vault granted this time MS can claim more credit of their own innovation. Because they have been working on this before BT but until the sucess or emergence of acceptance of the p2p model MS didn't bother much till now which makes it more like its capitalising and puttin its patent and spin just to control more with its p2p network model and DHT. link credit: Slyck Scratch http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060405-6532.html
  3. Woah! I never knew it was that bad! What about other non-Asian countries like the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The story I was refering to is the orochi it didn't really finish in 97 got dropped for the non kingof fighters story and came back in 2k3. As for the Arcade there is rapid decline but there is still for the hardcore and tourists that keep going in the UK. You can still see SSF2T, SF2 anniversary and KoF 98 being played more in challenges than VF4, Tekken, DOA and Soulcalibur games. The only 3d game that might get numbers to rival 2d is still tekken tag, 5 gets played but noway in comparison to tag. So in the UK imo 2-d is still viable for the beatemup fans.
  4. All this mixing is reminding me of the football/soccer game they kept messing with started out as iss, then iss evolution that bacame iss and evolution seprately and now evolution is aka winning eleven. Talk about spin. back on topic I hope they finish off /give conclusion to KOF story. I 'm sad realbout/ff/motw is being cancelled for me thats their bread and butter with ss and lastblade. KOF is just icing on the cake. Does anyone think we will se LB3 it was suppose to be the last aes/mvs game but then they said it will be atomisware and now to be not mentioned again.

  8. Wired showed an article by Chris Suellentrop http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.04/law.html It showing the lengths of censorship are going beyond websites and papers now online games are next. It focuses on China and South Korea but we it says seems quite unbelievable. I know you can't trust everything you see on the net but how many spoofs do you see on wired? her some of the quotes from the article "Still, virtual isn't the same as unreal. If the Chinese government can monitor World of Warcraft players, then Azeroth (where the game takes place) is in some sense a little bit totalitarian, too. And it wasn't the first time Beijing intervened in a massively multiplayer game: A few years earlier, a Chinese court ordered a game company to restore virtual biochemical weapons someone had pilfered from a player." "Other governments are taking an interest in MMORPGs as well. Players in South Korea have been prosecuted for stealing virtual property. More than half of the 40,000 computer crimes investigated by South Korea's National Police Agency in 2003 involved online games." "American gamers aren't likely to face dictatorial decrees to limit their play time, but within the next few years the courts will begin to examine how laws relating to taxes, copyright, and speech will apply in virtual worlds. In the near future, the IRS could require game developers to keep records of all the transactions that take place in virtual economies and tax players on their gains before any game currency is converted into dollars."
  9. Thanks for the headsup IQ Xbox360 is having more parallels with the Dreamcast they should edit that site with xbox similarities to DC and add this.
  10. Thanks for the headsup I'll check it out I prefer the old p2p apps no worrying about ratios and waiting for seeds. I thought hubs were dying out apart from the private invite only ones.
  11. Not bad, the flips is what good in the bonus round
  12. I just came accross this today, K' I'm glad everything regarding the situation is better. Prican I hope your father gets better too.
  13. During election time when Bush took the presidency, he had campaigns saying going against Bush is going against God. I not having a go at you but is this not biased and manipulating to people who have a belief in God. Indirectly the fighting of the new evil of terrorism wanting to take our freedom. Has changed the opinion of most people mostly negative towards the moslem/muslim fatih.
  14. Thanks for the headsup K'Dash @Neutron I have seen the second film, but I don't know any more of Wolverine past since the first film. Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth don't get explained just appear as enemies. I know that the solo film it will get explained but its poor how they did it in xmen 1 and 2. To me his memory has gone somewhere is much help to understanding his past when they have two characters they could brought flash backs for. Anyway my gripe is with Bryan Singer not you, kudos for Ususal suspects but he flocked up xmen 1 and 2 plot wise in imo.
  15. Axl I hope the console version has some sort of extra features. I've played the arcade ver and its JUST OKAY nothing really special or different out of the ordinary. Heres hoping at least this game gets controls right svc chaos suked because of the crap controls.
  16. No. It's about plot AND ACTION. If it's not violent, I'm not gonna see it in theatres. Simple as that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well Neuron Master I beg to differ the plot has gone no where in regards to wolverine and his memory. Everything else was known in part 1 the revelation of mutants, the fear of them. The 2 sides those for peace and cohesion, and thoes against this and want to rule the other.
  17. Is just a paticular site and what ver of ff are using? I have that prblem a few times but the plugin worked for me after a few tries. If ff gives you no joy you can try opera.
  18. How I see it is the gaming industry is like the music industry in terms of publishing and producing. Dev kits of current and nextgen are way too high for the obsecure yet unique game makers out there. Don't forget licensing and just plain development costs. You have to work for the major players in the game or be bought by them. With all these cost incurred and console units debts games are the only way the big dawgs make profit. So they are very unlikley to break away from the status quo. Hence the cycle of fps, comic to film to game etc.
  19. Maybe its a budget thing who knows, we all know the film is not about the plot more on the action lets hope it more like 2 and less like 1.
  20. Tell me about it, they say death comes in threes RIP Richard Burns, George and Eddie
