  1. You sound like a woman at the supermarket trying to justify buying some crappy burritos that the family will never eat just because you have a coupon for a dollar off. Why the hell would you buy one? It's useless now. I just thought it would be a cheap way to see what proper HD looked like without spending a fortune. The cheapest Blu-ray player on Play is £199.99 by comparison. Anyway, the quality of the films is virtually identical to Blu-ray, it's not like I won't 'eat' them just because HD DVD is dead.
  2. I was thinking of getting one of these. I know that HD DVD is 'dead' but they are only £29.99 from Play, with free delivery, plus a decent library of released HD DVDs selling at bargain basement prices.
  3. Oh so 25 is 'big' now too?! Damn I'm 30 on Monday Btw I live in Ireland, can't make ur party
  4. I pay approx $80 for 20Mbit cable, unlimited usage, except that if you exceed 3gig down and/or 1gig up between 16:00 and Mid, then you get dropped down to 5Mbit for 4 hours as a 'punishment'. The only bad thing really is the down:up ratio of 20Mbit:768k, which is a farce. EDIT : Just noticed the 250gig cap thing. Even though I abuse my 20 Mbit connection I would very rarely reach 250gigs/month. Isn't Comcast's max speed 12Mbit? Actually, just checked my bandwidth meter logs and it seems I was regularly topping out at over 300gigs a month. But 250 on a 12Mbit line is going to be a challenge.
  5. I couldn't imagine trying to play with the stick I'm so used to the d-pad for these sort of games. Your best bet is to try something like the Hori VF5 arcade stick, it's pretty cheap. Although how good it is for shmups I don't know.
  6. GTA 4 and Oblivion, bought, Halo 3 came with it. There really isn't anything I want either, hell I don't even want Halo. I might go buy Viva Pinata again, that was addictive as anything.
  7. Turbo Outrun uses the same hardware and driver as Super Hang On and the original Outrun. I assume if one works, they should all work. the arcade version of turbo outrun actually used an upgrade to the hardware,so i think it needs more ram than the xbox has to get emulated. ever wonder why it was never emulated on mame for the xbox. but it might work on fba,im no expert but seeing as mame uses software emulation and as such would probably use more of the ram to emulate the game, then maybe fba could emulate the game. The 'upgrade' was available as a plug-in board for the original Outrun with just the new roms for Turbo, but it used exactly the same cpu etc. The reason it wasn't on mame for the Xbox was because it wasn't added until 0.88u5, the Xbox core being 0.84.
  8. Turbo Outrun uses the same hardware and driver as Super Hang On and the original Outrun. I assume if one works, they should all work.
  9. Well true, but it was cheaper to buy a Master System than the Powerbase converter. Not to mention the 32x and Mega CD were ridiculously expensive here in the UK. I did get a Mega CD at one point for Sonic CD, but the cost:fun ratio was embarrassingly low.
  10. The standard controller was 3 buttons and remained that way AFAIK. The 6 button was only released to coincide with SF2 CE in 1993, to allow for the full 3 punch/3 kick setup. Because the 3 button was the standard, no games were allowed to use all 6 buttons exclusively like the SNES could.
  11. I tried several games with Gaia but couldn't get a crash. One that I did find was Blazing Star to Action Fighter always crashed. Some other combinations - Andro Dunos > Alex Kidd Baseball Stars Pro > Outzone Double Dragon > Truxton Super Spy > Superman Ninja Combat > Rastan NAM 1975 > Battle K Road CTHD > Action Fighter All worked ok.
  12. I'll double check, but I used to jump back and forward between Blazing Star/Pulstar on NG and DoDonPachi/ESPrade on Others without a crash.
  13. Conspiracy (2008). Val Kilmer goes all Rambo/Seagal/Texas Ranger in this action/revenge flick. Average but for the presence of Kilmer, and Gary Cole as the bad guy. Kilmer plays an ex-Marine searching for his old buddy in some border town, under development by some war-mongering/benefitting company owned by Cole. Don't want to give any more away but it wasn't half bad. 6/10
  14. Lol. I assume you are being sarcastic here. Compare any cross-platform game and the SNES version always looks better. Funny, just as GC mentioned about the old WWF game, one of my old personal favourites was WWF Royal Rumble on the SNES. It was only last week that I discovered that the Genesis versions of the WWF series had an edge on the SNES versions, at least in terms of content. Finishers, extra characters etc. Actually the WWF series is a good case in point. The SNES versions had noticeably better gfx, and undoubtedly better sound. The MK series is another obvious example, although as you say Shiba, they were unfortunately censored, well the first one was anyway. From Wikipedia page on MK2 - The main one that I remember was SF2. Praised beyond all recognition on the SNES, the Megadrive version didn't make it out until much later and had to make compromises (as usual) to get it to run smoothly. I clearly remember a big deal being made about the floors not scrolling properly, compared to the SNES version with it's Mode7 capabilities. For the RPG lovers too I do believe the SNES was streets ahead with Mana, FF, Earthbound, Chrono etc etc etc. Admittedly I didn't own a MD until late in it's cycle but having had full romsets for both consoles for many years now, I can safely say that I'd settle for the SNES confident that I'm missing out on very little Notable exceptions : Castle of Illusion, Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy, Shinobi, Shining Force, Streets of Rage, Sonic 2, Golden Axe and Comix Zone. The Genesis had a faster processor so it was much better suited to 'quick' games like Sonic. It also allowed it to handle bigger sprites. That was the only advantage of MK2 on the MD, that it ran slightly quicker/bigger sprites. I just read somewhere that the SNES dominated Japan but apparently the Genesis won out in Europe/USA, in terms of sales volume anyway. Surprised me.
  15. I don't doubt it could be done, but considering how few CPS3 games there are it would be a wasted effort versus actually getting some new games to work instead
  16. 3.62 is over 2 years old. IIRC the makers of Winrar itself did something like this a couple of years back, giving away free licences for a 24 hour period. Btw, 7-zip and Iceows are both very nice and totally free alternatives
  17. I think his best is Catch Me If You Can, though admittedly I'm not a Scorcese fan. Coincidentally, I just noticed this a few days back, Akira!
  18. I use NOD32 anitivirus and Outpost firewall, which both have their own spyware engines to stop it getting 'in' in the first place. Otherwise I would just just Spybot for the odd sweep, though it never turns anything up.
  19. Spartan (2004) Good show. I like David Mamet's stuff (Ronin, Heist, Hoffa, Glengarry Glen Ross) but I missed this one. 7/10
  20. That sounds like a big jump. Good luck with that. The ability to add new games would be an exciting improvement as I know of a lot of stuff that has been added since 0.84, or even games that were working in older builds that got knocked out by the newer core, the likes of MK. Having said that, I don't really care about MK because it is already working in 0.72. As kenshiro said in the FBAxxx thread, it's more important to him to try to add games that have never worked. I'll try to make a shortlist of games that you could maybe look into some day
  21. That just reminded me about Mario Golf on the GBA. Easily my most played GBA game, and it was even better than Tennis too. More GTA4. I just opened the third island yet I'm only at 29% completion? Not only that, the mission earns you $250,000. Considering the average before that is about $1000, I thought it was a tad unrealistic. Ah well. Third island looks the same as the second, as it did the first. Nothing new, just more streets to memorize
