  1. Whoa, I can't believe I just read through that whole saga! But it was captivating. Eugen Popovici wasn't that guy who spammed 1emulation recently? I seem to remember that was a different story. Anyway, I know I'm fairly new here, but it's hard to believe that anybody could accuse our beloved GameCop of some of the things Eugen Popovici was claiming...although if it were me, I'd bloody well give him a virus! (Edit: on reflection I wouldn't really, but I would be rather cheesed off)
  2. Hmm... I didn' realise that Kawaks uses non-decrypted rom sets...oh well, you live and learn!
  3. Well, I hate to say it, but if Nintendo was still making games for the NES, they'd have flopped harder than an obese man diving for pearls (okay, I had to stretch a little for that one!) by now. As cool as ms5, svc, kof2k3 (I'm not counting ss5 in that list, as I couldn't tell the difference between it and ss3) were, it is dead hardware. I thought I couldn't tell the difference, but then I got "jojo's bizarre adventure" for the psx, and although I am guessing it was an unfaithful, incomplete port of the arcade verion *and my rationing behind this is that the game also came out on the DC, and Naomi is supposed to be a souped-up dreamcast* it blows away kof2k3, svc, and all other cps2/neo geo games. Honestly, I cannot think of any other industry where market leaders could get away with using 15-year old hardware! If Microsoft tried that, they'd be more dead in the water than a floating, corpulent corpse that fell victim to a Ted Bundy attack, and then went missing for years.
  4. Agozer, I am looking at the pics right now.
  5. you have to put 2 rings in the round parts and a long tube in the rectangular part of the box. they're hidden in some stupid places. Basically think of a place where it could be hidden and just click randomly at that place until you find the right bit!
  6. What sort of things would be discussed in this new forum? What I mean is, will there be anything that isn't already covered in the Kaillera and emunetwork forums?
  7. I've been keepingmy eye on this emulator for a while. So far the max fps I've seen in the screenshots is 25 but considering it is being designed and tested on a PIII-500 MHz that's pretty impressive!
  8. I think we've hit the nail on the head here, but let me offer a different take - arcade machines in Japan are so popular because you can play games there 6 months, or more before they are released on the consoles. Also, Japan is leading the games market so the rest of us want their games. However, it always takes time for the games to be released here - and by the time they ARE, they are usually released on consoles at about the same time! I come from Australia, which as fellow Australians know, gets the games after they come out in America, so we have longer to wait. When the games are finally out in the West, they don't sell well because we are all waiting for the next big Japanese title to come out. But of course, it'll be at least 6 months before that one comes out, and by the time it does, all the hype is aimed at the NEXT title, and so on and so on. If the arcade owners could get games as soon as they were released, they'd be alot more popular, I am sure.
  9. I repeat, if you've got the tape playing, you've almost finished. just study the screen where that stupid guy is dancing and you'll understand what to do (but WAit until the movie has played through before you click
  10. do you have the disc in that you were up to when you saved the state? that's the only thing I can think of
  11. We sparred without padding at Arjuken. Well, the weapons would be paddeded, but I didn't fancy getting smacked in the face with a pair of nunchuku or a kendo sword anyway. And what do you mean about someone that does the same thing? Its hard to be sure what someone can do if they know a little of lots of different styles. I remember our belt earning day thingys...for the higher belts, you'd have to fight 5 white belts, then 4 yellow belts...etc etc...until for my latest belt, I had to fight one of the instructors! (after all the other fights). THAT was hard.
  12. I used to do Karate... well actually it was called Arjuken Karate and that stood for Arnis (Philipino stick-fighting), Jujitsu (throws and stuff) Kendo (sword fighting). But we did everything. I remember using padded nunchuku and learning how to do axe kicks (I was never flexible enough). Our instructor, Chris, had a huge scar in his chest from when he was in a demonstration whereby the grandmaster of the school had him lie down and put a watermelon on his chest. The idea was he would slice the watermelon clean with a sword but leave Chris unharmed. He sliced the watermelon all right, but Chris needed 40 stitches. The worst part was, I was two belts away from black belt and then I moved away, and worst still because I had learned philipino karate instead of Japanese karate no-one in this town would accredit me, so I would have had to start again from scratch. I just gave up after that. Aah, memories!
  13. *spoiler warning* Xeon, look carefully at the tape, at the end of the stupid dance he points to a point on the wall which flashes green. Then move your hand to that point and wait till the animation finishes. Then click on that point and you will reveal a hidden safe.
  14. Canberra (the little known capital city of Australia )
  15. Here is the problem, you didn't save on your "memory card",you only used ePSXe's save state feature. I am not too sure but it is possible that you may not be able to load those save states after you quit the emulator. However if you can, the way to do it would be to go to "run -- load state " and choose that slot. I would reccommend, however, that you use the game itself to save the game to a "memory card", the same way you would with a ps memory card.
  16. Get a virtual memory card manager and do a search for all files called.mcr. These are your memcard files. Check them all with the manager for the FFIX savegames. Also, if you used the menu in ePSXe to save you only "saved state" so try going into file -- load state using ePSXe itself. I hope you find your game.
  17. I've had the toolbar for a while now, and I could always access newgrounds videos. I couldn't last night, but now I can again. What's with this google toolbar? Everyone seems to think it is evil, but I think its damn convenient. What is its dark little secret?
  18. Nah, I doubt it - spybot is a good anti-spyware program. Its better than Ad-Aware, it seems, or at least it finds ads that Ad-Aware doesn't. I use both. Thanks for your replies, I *hope* I got rid of it using spybot, but I really think that this is going too far! I wish there was someone to complain to dammit, but this is the internet. Trying to police/moderate the internet would be like trying to quell an English Football Riot with a toothbrush.
  19. Well this is new and irritating - I recently had this spyware on my computer which would take keywords from any webpage you were viewing, and turn them into links to sponsored advertisements....NASTY. For example, I was just on the National Lampoon website, and in an article I was reading, random words were hyperlinked...for example unloved turned into a link as did money, and diet. I clicked on those links and they all turned out to be ads. I found some of the same words hyperlinked on another site, so I ran ad-aware, and refreshed the browser and the links were gone! Has anyone else encountered this? Beware of this new annoyance! edit: Son of a...its still there! How can I get rid of this thing?
  20. This has already been posted 6 or so threads down.
  21. Well, from what I've heard of PS2 bootdiscs they either only work for PS-1 games, or they only work if you have a usb-port mod-chip. By the way, even if they did work, it is rather unlikely that downloading a ps2-boot disc would do anything, as the boot disc itself would be burned so the ps2 wouldn't recognise it. Sorry People who've used these things, feel free to correct me, but I think getting a modchip is your only hope (and those flash-card mod-chips aren't as compatible as the hardware ones and only work with certain games, etc.. etc...
