  1. I thought Micheal said he underwent all those surgery to look more like Pinnochio (sp?).
  2. I love this series...they still show it on Cartoon Network, but I think it went through some editing process beforehand. Still, I watch it. But yeah, don't know what happened. Maybe the show happened to offend the wrong people -- people with some leverage, and influence. I really don't know.
  3. My favorite series: Rurouni Kenshin Berserk (can't believe no one's seen this) Cowboy Bebop Noir (but, wasn't able to complete the series) Yeah, not a whole lot -- I need more exposure. Still, there are a few others which I can't recall at the moment. Oh, and I always prefer Japanese subtitles...if it can be helped. Edit note: Also, thanks to the person who posted the link to Midori no Hibi. If anyone knows any other great sites, post 'em.
  4. That sounds suspicious. You need to watch out for bootlegs -- espcially in places like China.
  5. Probably Kill Bill vol.1 for overall personal favorite. As for The Last Samurai, it wasn't a bad movie; and I'd go so far as to say it even had some emotionally moving scenes -- even from my point of view, which is saying quite a bit if you know me in real life. But then, even after such "moving scenes", I can't help it, but it hits me: this movie is not very accurate. Or specifically, the problem is that it portrays Samurais in a very unrealistic romantized view -- aka, not historically true (nevermind that Cruise's character was entirely fictional, but everything else as well). I could describe in great detail, but I'll choose not to waste time. (Still, not a bad movie, as long as you keep things in perspective that in no fashion is any of the ideas proposed in the movie accurate.) Last, LOTR: The Return of the King was not a bad movie. It had it's negatives, but the audience knows that it is complete fantasy so it can get away with a lot. Only downside for me was that the last half hour of the movie or so, I felt like it had been overly long with its farewells and its unsuccessful attempt at creating "moving/touching scenes", cuz frankly, for me the only reason I stayed till the end was to see the death of Saruman. *BUT* as we all know (or most of us who've read the books), that scene never made it to the theatrical release. And so, the theatrical versions have all these gaps because it never specifically addressed what happened to Saruman after his defeat -- just to name one. So I ended up staying that last half hour just to see that scene, and I find that it was cut out, and we end up watching some humdrum goodbyes and farewells, which never brought a single drop of tear to my eyes. I just left the theater feeling robbed of that last half hour, when otherwise, it could have been a much "fuller/complete" experience. Oh well, that's why there's always the extended edition DVDs, no? Eh...sorry, enough rant. Edited because I can be a grammer freak at times.
  6. What? FFX-2? I'm guessing you mean the European release or something, because it's already been out in the US since December. Either way, I wouldn't get my hopes up. I dunno, overall I didn't really like it that much -- but then, I never had much expectation to begin with. Personally, the story is crap, but I did like the fast-paced battle system; but that's probably the only plus. There hasn't been a decent RPG out in a long time... Maybe Xenosaga will start picking up as the series progresses. I hope so anyway. Not really looking forward to anything this year. Maybe look forward to FFXII, but from looking at some of the screenshots, the main character...well, at first I thought he was a female.
  7. Solas: Wow, seems you got quite a collection -- neat and tidy too. I tried to start my own collection at one point, but it was just too costly. I'd download them but it seems the quality is never as good as the DVDs you buy, and I'm not on broadband so downloading one episode (30 min.) would probably take me like half a year or something. Ridiculous... Cartoon Network: The poor man's source of anime!! LOL Uh...so, if anyone can answer me:Has anyone seen Naruto? It seems it's gaining popularity and I was curious.
  8. I can't understand America's obession with football; it's not like they themselves are playing (merely watching). They get no glory, so what gives, aside from placing bets?
  9. Wha...who's embarrassed? "Girl Gamers": Off the top of my head...typically loves to play games with musical elements. (I.e. DDR, IIDX, etc.) Apart from those types of games, if they bother playing anything else, it's usually puzzle type games. (Ex. Bust-a-Move, Puzzle Fighter, etc.) As for fighting games... Simply put: they are generally not interested in fighters -- save for those who are just in it for admiring character designs, the story, the artwork, but never for the competing against other players. When they try and play, it's usually random mashing with no underlying strategies. There's Daigo Umehara, Justin Wong, just to name a few. How many female fighting game champions are there in the world, or ever were? None.
  10. Thanks. Yeah, I also forgot to mention that if you complete the game couple of times in a row, like on the third try, you supposedly get "speed boots" or something and it becomes more "difficult." Yup, it's an added bonus feature to this masterpiece.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if the statistics were over 30%, judging from what I see everyday. And what is behind this trend, some of us may ask. Laziness? Genetics? The fast paced environment of modern cities, providing people only with enough time for unhealthy fast foods? Or a combination of these factors? Who knows... and I certainly don't know why I wrote this.
  12. I'm 20, and wish I didn't have to grow older. Girl gamers...Bah! Let's not start that again.
  13. No offence taken. But really, how much time could you have seriously wasted in finishing this game? Anyhow, I play it for the music at the end credits. Well, I guess some folks didn't find much humor in it... Quest for the Ruby Emerald, coming 2005!
  14. Alright, I saw this posted on SRK, and damn... this game is tight! Everyone needs to play this at least once! I'll have to warn you though, it can get very fustrating, but strangely at the same time, it's very addicting -- and, let's not forget, challenging as well. So, let's see if you guys have what it takes to actually complete this game. http://www.lanceandeskimo.com/flash/quest.html Edit note: If anyone gets stuck, there's also a little strategy guide at the bottom of that page.
  15. 56.03 sec on like my 7th try -- no lags and no other programs running, of course. I dunno, I think I can do alot better though... :/ Anyhow, I know of another game you all must check out. I'll make a thread for it, so check it out.
  16. Just wanted to take a moment to thank Carnicero; you've been very helpful. I got the thing to work now, but this mame thing is honestly quite overwhelming. There's so many various options, and for most of them I don't even know what it's for, so I don't even bother messing around with the options since I don't want to mess anything up and not even know what I did. So far, the only thing I can do is 1) use that DOS-prompt command in a half-assed manner, 2) config. buttons to my gamepad, and 3) change between American, Japanese, European versions. Oh well...hopefully I'll build up my knowledge base. Thanks.
  17. Ok, corrected the slash error and....man, it seemed so close. Carnicero, I got up to step 4 in your instructions (typed in "mamep kof2003"), and it looked like the thing was about to load or something, then I got that error message I posted about. You know: "Error while loading DLL 'unicows.dll'! The application will terminate now." Roadblocks every step of the way... I think I'll just try later (meaning probably sometime tomorrow).
  18. Carnicero: Everything seemed to go well till I reached step 3. I typed in the name of the folder that mame32p is in after the "cd." Um... so the whole thing looked like this --> C:\>cd "insert name of folder"/MAME32. Now, what happens when I type that is that I get this message: "Too many parameters - /MAME32." So, I guess this is where I'm stuck on... Well, this is pretty fustrating and I think I may put this mame thing on the backburner for the time being. But if you have things to add, clarify, or anything, then just let me know. K'dash: Ok, so what's with the unicow.dll thing? Does that mean something's wrong with the application? You mean when I try to open mame32p, (without DOS prompt and all) it's supposed to just open? I'm not supposed to get that error message, right?
  19. Alright, so I decided I should learn to use this mama or mame sooner or later, and my impression so far: it is not the most newbie friendly program to use. Still, we were all new at one point, no? I've looked through the text documents (I'm speaking of msdos, as well as windows text doc); and skimmed through the technical jargon... and it seems like it doesn't inform the reader on how to even run the emulator in the first place. In my folder, there are two applications: 1) mame32p and 2) mamep. What is the difference, and which one to pick? I dunno. I tried both. And when I tried to open mame32p, I get this message: "Error while DLL 'unicows.dll'! The application will terminate now." And when I try to open mamep, I get some brief mame usage info, and asked whether I'd like to open documentation (which I've already looked through), and whether I pick yes or no, the program closes. Alright, at this point I assumed that I need to use MS-DOS prompt in order to open the emulator. So I went about and opened MS-DOS, and seeing as how I don't know how to use DOS (as sad as it sounds to many of you), I didn't get anywhere. So, can any one here provide me with some step-by-step instructions -- keeping in mind that I've no clue how to use MAMA...err, MAME -- so I can run this thing? And if that is too much work, can someone provide me with some websource tutorial on how to use DOS? P.S. It's not that I'm impatient and dying to play this game -- I can just wait for the hacks on NRX or kawaks -- but I figured I should learn to use MAME sooner or later; especially since almost every newly released roms go straight to MAME.
  20. Twenty-six users browsing this forum -- no surprise there! LOL Patience is a virtue, people. Yeah, glad it's out; and it came out much sooner than I'd expected. Um... I'm a complete newbie when it comes to mame and using DOS, so I'll just wait for the kawaks version or NRX -- it's only a matter of time now.
  21. Tidus, are you even sure that it was him? Just be 100% certain before you do anything.
  22. Honestly, I wouldn't vote for any one of them.
  23. That site... (No, not the one Weirdanzeige posted-- I mean r****n.com) Damn, my "buddies" back in high school used to often talk about that site. From the things I've heard from them, I was so disturbed that I've never checked it out. What's worse, they used to talk about it as if they found it hilarious or something. (They were some sick bastards!)
  24. I know from exprience that buying anime DVDs (especially series) does not come cheap. Yeah, but it's either that or download; and since I'm on dialup... A bit off-topic, but has anyone here seen Naruto? It seems to getting rapidly popular for some reason.
