  1. Whoa!! And you can do all this with just working 3 days a week?! Or are you not telling us that you're the son of a millionare, or perhaps married to some rich gal?
  2. Uh....so, if anyone here going to buy the house? Or better yet, who here even has the money?
  3. By perfect guard, you mean instant block or faultless defense? (I mostly play GGXX now -- more than any other fighters -- so I can help out if anyone has questions.) Anyway, getting knocked down from a sweep in GGXX can lead to serious damage or a 50/50 guessing game upon wakeup. But there's also pressure strings that people need to look out for and get out of. Green block (i.e. faultless defense) pushes the opponent back a bit, so this can help you get out of pressure strings -- or if you have at least half a tension (i.e. meter) built up, you can use dead angle (forward k+s) to knock the opponent back. For reversals, it really depends on the character used, but as kaioshade mentioned, wakeup supers are a useful remedy -- just don't get predictable, or you'll get baited. Also you can wakeup grab the opponent if they're stupid enough -- or careless -- to run up right next to you as you are getting up from a knockdown. If your opponent is spamming the same move (grab, sweep, whatever) over and over again, then that really tells you that you're dealing with a moron who knows crap about the game. But for those who keep falling for the same obvious idiotic moves...... Well, it's time to examine your gameplan -- or if you even have one. But yeah, if anyone plays GGXX seriously here, maybe we can discuss some stuff.
  4. "Normal life"? Not sure what that is, but I hate routines and routines are most likely a part of a "normal" life, hence I wish I didn't have a normal life at times. Uh...yeah, anyhow, I post here regularly for a while, then I stop for a few days or so, and repeat the pattern. Too much damn crap to do most of the time, living a "normal" life. LOL Might have to take six courses next semester. Oh joy. And finals is just around the corner. Fellow college students, let us all join hands and rejoice! Finals, that period in time in which students are flung into a pure academic bliss -- heaven knows no other name. Yeah.... LOL
  5. Wow... I grab, I turtle, and I do "cheesy" combos. That makes me a walking cheeseball, I suppose. What amazes me every time are the types of people complaining about grabs, or X, or whatever being too "cheesy" and how that's not a showcase of "skillz" (lol) yet they keep falling for it. That's the thing: they keep falling for it. Now what does that say about them and their ability to adapt to the situation? But no, of course it's never their fault. No, it's that "cheesy" bastard who's doing X/Y/Z, and dammit, that's just cheap, and I'm obviously the better player! Right.... Seriously, it's not uncommon to see people like these at my arcade. What makes them so lame is that they fail to see that maybe -- just maybe -- the reason they're on this long losing streak could be due to their refusal to see the mistakes they keep making and how they just leave themselves open to damage. And with every loss, they don't reflect on their defeat and see what sort of mistakes they may have made, and hence adapt and improve. Why? Because according to them, it's *never* their fault, and they only lost because that other player was "cheap/cheesy." Not surprisingly, you don't see these types of people who complain about cheesiness participating in tournaments.
  6. I just saw vol. 1. It's pretty funny. The anime sequence of O-Ren's past history was great. The ending of the last fight sequence sorta took me by surprise. I liked it overall, though the sudden change into the black and white during the fight sequence I did not enjoy. Also, why was Black Mumba's name beeped out?
  7. Yeah they've got some minor tweaks, but Millia was still top tier even in XX. Chipp is fun, but I'd stick to Millia. The payoff would probably be better with her than Chipp. On a different note, I'm waiting for the PS2 release of SF3:TS since I don't have a DC. Also, my arcade got rid of it, and some of the players are trying to have them get it back. Yeah, Third Strike: another favorite of mine.
  8. Was that at Blockbuster? I hope so so you can get the free rental. That scene didn't pass the censors but QT did a very smart thing by making it black and white. It added a sort of artistic panache to that sequence. So its a win win situation, he can keep the scene in the movie for us and it even looks cool. Yup, it was Blockbuster. But I usually don't mind paying for rentals -- as long as the movie looks promising, and especially if it turns out to be a good movie. Back to the topic: so it's in black and white, but on the DVD, is the original scene availabe for viewing in the special features or whatnot? I'm guessing not. Why can't people just accept the original for what it is instead of trying to water things down for the easily paranoid Western societies?
  9. GGXX#Reload -Correction: Its an update to a game I dispise dearly. The only thing that was fixed was the balanced issues from GGXX. I used to be a GGXX fanboy, now I just hope something will come along to rekindle the lost soul of mine to play the it ever again. Superb in most catacgories. Backgrounds are medicore Although most of the character designs are excellent, Justice, Ky, Kliff seem like "I've Been Done" before. Half of the music is repeative and annoying. I'm all up for guitar solos, but christ, IN MOST OF THE SONGS. Not a big graphical and system update from GGX/X+. No, you misunderstand. When I wrote "Guilty Gear XX/#Reload" notice the slash ( /) ? Well, this means either Guilty Gear XX or Guilty Gear #Reload -- take your pick; I happen to like both. I agree with your comments about the background. Some could be improved upon -- especially the ones with people in them. Music is repetitive, but what isn't if you listen to something repeatedly? IMO, the music is the best in any of the fighting games thus far, considering such failures like MvC2. Who the hell puts Jazz in a fighting game, and much less, with vocals? Graphics: I don't think I need to say anything much here. But most importantly, what gives me the most enjoyment about this game is its gameplay and the experiences I get from facing human competition; people who are equally into learning the ins and outs of the game engine and playing in competitions/tournaments. After all, this is a *fighting game*. Fighting games are for competition, and the ultimate category it will be judged upon is the game engine and competition. I don't know if I'd consider myself a fanboy -- though, I'm not saying you accused me of being one, but just in case I come off as such. "Fanboys" tend to be fixated on graphics and storyline...that's pretty much it. When it comes to the meat of fighting games: actually playing the game against human competition, they pretty much steer away.
  10. Was hoping to rent this last night -- it was all rented out. :/ Go figure. Well, hopefully there'll be some copies available tonight. (I haven't even seen the first one so...) But what the hell is this I'm hearing that only the japanese ver. has X. Did we just get ripped off.... again. Damn censors.
  11. Guilty Gear XX/#Reload Superb in every category.
  12. Just be direct about it from the get go -- no nonsense style, and none of that beating around the bush crap. This way, you save yourself time and wasted energy. If she's not into you, fine, you move on to other chicks who are; and you've saved yourself from fustrations from wasting time and energy wondering this and that over just one chick. If she is into you, great; and you've saved yourself time and many possible ackward moments between the two of you. Just be aware of the innate female tendency to lead on a male with subtle signals of possible hope when really there may be none -- females love to string around clueless guys; they love to have admirers around them at all times. Don't fall into that trap, and don't become one of those guys. That's why I'm telling you to be blunt and honest about your intentions and feelings when communicating with her -- this way, you save yourself from a lot of female bullshit and drama; plus it makes you more confident, which is an attractive trait to females.
  13. I'd say that's a really good deal -- just as long as the game's in working condition.
  14. I'm pretty sure it's fake. Otherwise those animal rights activists would be going crazy. :/
  15. How much were they selling Fatal Frame? I'm guessing close to $50. :/ I rented Fatal Frame 2. I'm still on the first chapter; close to the end of the chapter, I think. So far, it has a really creepy atmosphere and everything, but nothing that's shocked me or made me drop my controller. Thus far, the only thing that really creeps me out are the things Mayu (is that right?), the other twin sister, says from time to time. "Someone's...near..." "We're... being watched." Yep, it's creepier than those spirit apparitions.
  16. I can't download it. I'm on dailup. LOL
  17. --Xenosaga (Albedo's theme) --FFIX (Melodies of Life) --FFX (Otherworld) --FFVIII (Liberi Fatali) --GGXX
  18. Yeah, I've had enough of politics -- taking political science at the moment. Satire is good. I like Vonnegut and Chuck Palahnuick (sp?). And Krishnamurti beats any of the philosophers I've ever read.
  19. Well, I can't argue with you so... I'll just move along.
  20. Cool. I'll look into it. Speaking of books, what are your main interests Gryph? People interested in historical theory may want to check out Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond. Hitler's Pope is also very interesting; it talks the history of the Roman Catholic church and looks at its historical roots of power and corruption.
  21. What's with all this moralizing. It's like everyone's out to prove how much they are more morally superior or something. This is getting really lame. I vote that this thread be closed.
  22. "Peeps" are definitely superior. Let's celebrate it Hannibal Lecter style!
  23. If what this guy said is true, then it shouldn't be hard to come across an article annoucing this. Well, just be sure to take what others say with a grain of salt. I mean, the X-box version is still available, right? (I'm not certain on this, but you say you work at gamestop.) So, what's the problem? Also that thing was rated Teen, although I'm not saying it ain't scary or anything. Besides, Fatal Frame II is still widely available -- although it was released only 3 - 4 months ago. But still, why is this still being sold; is it any less scary? Damn! I'm definitely gonna rent these out.
  24. Yeah, Happy Easter. :/ I'll be spending mine finishing up my research paper (yay!) and studying for my math exam. I hate holidays that are on Sundays. I'd be better if Easter was on a Monday.
  25. OMG... Well, that was definitely a breath of fresh air. The world is in such a mess. We can see why. There is much fear, anger, and violence in each of us; and of course, we are part of the world. Anyway, what would the internet be without some drama, no? LOL
