  1. I have three exams to get through. Also gotta start reading my history textbook for the exam later this week -- 200+ pages if reading every unnecessary info.; probably 100 or under if I can carefully select the most relevant info. Frick!!! Time to start briding. ...........
  2. I thought it was pretty good overall -- that Faust player was not too great though, or it could be that since this tourney was in 2002 (?), they may not have known about his FDC at the time. Hmmm... X-men has a good Johnny but I expected to see MSY. Did he get eliminated earlier? And where was Daigo? Are you planning on working on the Day 1 footage? On a side note, I have the Evo 2k3 DVD; the Evo GG tourney was disappointing -- basically a Sol fest. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Anyone play Battle Toads for the snes? That game was garbage.
  4. K'dash: Thanks. I've been looking to get this footage for a while, but I've had trouble finding. I'm gonna add this to my 3 GB GGXX tourny footage.
  5. I'm surprised this actually made to two pages, though it did get off-topic, but whatever. Yeah, I basically been suffocating the past few days. Trapped in a world of deadlines, research papers, and exams -- and there's still two more weeks left. Anyhow, thanks for the stories -- some of you seem to have it worst than me from the sound of it -- and good luck to all. Add in or whatever if you feel like it.
  6. Yeah, it's been slowly creeping up into my mind with each passing day: the week of Finals is almost upon those of us who have succumbed to the pressures of society and conformed to its social mores, and hence ultimately doomed ourselves to a life of mediocrity -- IOW, those of us in college. Well, I don't know why I'm posting this on an emulation board of all places. Heck, I enjoy games as much as anyone here, but we all have to deal with "duties" in the real world (as much as we hate it). And for those in college, there's always Hell week (finals) to go through before few precious time can be bought for freedom and enjoyment, until next semester rolls by. LOL Besides, maybe this could be a way of getting to know a bit more about the members that regularly post here. So those in universities/college -- I think there's about 2 or 3 members here besides myself -- I was just curious as to how you are preparing for the finals or just any thoughts about school in general. I'll probably be doing a lot of drinking in the coming days and/or "hanging out" (lol). When I'm home, it's either drinking and/or surfing the web and basically getting no studies done. This is my pathetic attempt at trying to escape what I know I'll eventually force myself to do. (Note: I don't drink regularly. Just when I'm faced with deadlines and mountain loads of utter crap I don't want to deal with.) So what's your escape? Great! Here's to a life of mediocrity; getting a college degree, a steady job, wife, kids, and death! And the cycle continues.... Cheers!!! P.S. It'd be interesting to see how many responses I actually get for this topic. I'm guessing four at the most -- but I shouldn't set such high expectations.
  7. So a metrosexual would be a fem. type of guy, or a gay man who acts in the stereotypical image of a "gay" man? I don't see what's so "metro" about that; after all, there's always been guys like that -- more or less. Anyhow, was just curious. Thanks.
  8. Yeah, moving to So. Cal. is probably the most likely option. Hopefully I can find some sorta job in California sometime in the future. Anyhow, if I can save up some money, I may go to Evo this year -- not 100% sure though. What about you K'dash?
  9. By then, if the fighting genre still hasn't competely died out in the U.S./Europe, it'll all just be 3-D. The horror! No! Make it stop!!
  10. Hey, same here. Everytime I go to my arcade to find it near empty or to see yet another random joe playing MvC2, I think, "F#ck, I wish I was in Japan!" Everytime I sign up for tournaments to find that it gets canceled due to people not showing up even when they signed up (!), or just not enough participants, I wish I'd been born in Japan. But what can you do?
  11. The most I or anyone else can realistically answer to this is with a "I don't know." Because, yes, at the present time I can imagine myself playing games for the rest of my life, but that's just my thought/belief in the present moment. People are not static and are always changing, inward and out -- I wish I could say with certainty "I'll definitely be playing for the rest of my life", but then I'll be a psychic. "I don't know."
  12. Alright, what exactly is a "metrosexual"? I hear this word being thrown around a lot lately; and it honestly sounds silly to me. Is there an official definition?
  13. Guilty Gear XX#Reload isn't published by Sammy for the U.S. release, Majesco is publishing the game for Europe/North America, thats why I didn't put it with the Sammy line up. Guilty Gear XX#Reload that comes out in NA/Europe is the Korean version soundtrack. Isuka plays like the old Fatal Fury games with the 2 fighting planes, thats why theres a "turn" button. From word of mouth, the game isn't that great in terms of gameplay and improvements. Think it as "Guilty Gear XX Tournement Edition." FFXII is still making progress in development. I'll ask a friend of mine to check out the S-E booth at e3. Although it should come out around December 2005 in Japan if everything goes well. So I'm guessing there's no hope of #Reload ever being released for the PS2 -- that is, unless by some miracle, American gamers drop MvC2 and start playing this game more. And there's also the fact that there was never even an official arcade release of this game to the states. Anyway... Regarding FFXII, I was under the impression that we'd get a release around Dec. 2004 or early 2005, but Dec. 2005 in Japan?! 2005?! Wow. Thanks for the news.
  14. Maybe I missed it but did your list include the GGXX #Reload release for the X-box? Apparently it's suggested retail price is set at $19.95! Why this sudden turn?! It seems X-box is getting all the good releases now (fighting games, I mean), though there's still the SF anniversery bundle for the PS2. I know PS2 is getting GG Isuka, but that game is a piece of crap -- there's a turn button (!), WTF?! Should be Isuka for X-box and #Reload for PS2. Time to get modded. :/ P.S. Isn't Final Fantasy XII planned for release sometime in December or early 2005? Edit note: Link with news of #Reload for X-box. http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/040429/295094_1.html
  15. I didn't read the last 14 pages or so of this thread, but I can see we've gotten way off track once again.
  16. Gamefaqs is pretty much a haven for RPG freaks (not that I don't play RPGs), so it's only natural that an RPG game would win over a fighter. Just don't pay attention to them. Anyhow, I thought Kingdom Hearts was a fun game (didn't really like having Goofy and Donald on my team though); and I would have finished the game too had I not got sick and tired of the shifting camera angles -- thought I had to puke every 20 minutes or so.
  17. The Darkstalker series is still very popular in Japan and still played in tournaments. It's just that this is not the case in the U.S. -- U.S. is pretty much all about MvC2. Very lame. Anyhow, the rumors were interesting to read though I don't pay much attention to them. Mmcafe is a pretty good source, usually. TAS on the other hand... We'll not get into that. What I am curious about is, how long has this game been in development? When did they start working on it? Has there been official word on this?
  18. I'm sorta waiting for PS2 SF Third Strike release. Yeah, I played it at the arcade but never owned a DC, so this is my chance. As for movies: I'll probably watch Spiderman 2, and whatever else seems good, I suppose. Edit note: Regarding the Spiderman movies, I wish they'd use someone else to play Mary Jane. Damn, that actress who plays her (forgot her name) is so frickin' ugly -- that're these guys thinking?! There's so many other hot actresses out there. Maybe Katie Holmes can fill in.... Mmmmm LOL
  19. I'm just confused now. I thought the swap disk, CD loader, magic swap, or whatever the hell it's called did not require one to take apart the PS2 unit and tamper around with the hardware. I thought you just insert the swap disk/whatever the f*ck it's called and you could play imports and whatnot. Yeah, I'm a bit lost here. And why don't stores sell these things and you can only find it online -- not that it's a problem or anything, but curious.
  20. Barney and friends. Britney's Dance Beat. Alright!!! Game on!
  21. Not exactly $15, but I ain't complaining. Definitely gonna pick those up. Thanks for the link. thumbsup! Curious as to exactly how these CDs work though. Oh well, I guess there'd be instructions.
  22. We all start out as n00bs. Nothing wrong with that. What separates 'scrubs' from the rest is whether the player is willing to honestly look at their mistakes and figure out how to overcome, hence adapt and improve. The key trait of a scrub is that they have this mental block, an attitude that says it's never their fault for losing, it's always the other guy's fault thus they never learn and improve. So yeah, don't feel bad Gryph. Anyway, for those who play GGXX, who are your main characters? I use Faust and for my secondary, I use Sol. Also, I know I've posted this link here before but just in case anyone wants to check out some match vids. http://www.lehmus.net/ggxx/ I got more links if anyone's interested. MIRC is also a good place to find vids of top players. Cheers.
  23. Are you kidding? If there's such a cheap option to play imports, why is it that so many people talk about getting it modified? So where are some good places to get this CD loader? Any other comments welcome.
  24. Alright. I'd like to know if there is a way (safe for my ps2, hopefully) to play import games on the PS2 without getting it modified. The reason why I'm asking this is because I often hear people talking about just using a cd loader or fliptop or whatever to play imports without modding. I'm not sure on the "without modding" bit, but it seems like that's what I've heard. So what exactly is a fliptop or CD loader, or whatever? Can I use these instead of getting the unit modified? Thanks.
