  1. Rick Stroud is only mentioned because hardly anybody knows him and you're trying to show off. But, yes 'Other' is very vague considering how many others there are. So I'll mention some other cr@p boxers - "Big" Willy Johnson? How about him? What about Michael Max, the worst Japanese character design of all time? Axel Hawk - Just as bad. Mickey Rogers - Kinda sucks hard. Alex and Roger from Tekken? J-McCoy - Who knows which game he's from? Aldebaran Nipper, Shouichi Kanou and Michael Eldorado? Ditto. Rick and Jeff from battle K-Road - Don't deserve to be mentioned anywhere. Anyway, there are loads. And by the way, Steve Fox is described as this - and Paul (who uses a Judo based style) would still fall before his might. (even in spite of the fact that, yes, Paul DOES own)
  2. so Ibuki has been buried under a hail of bright yellow, foam bullets? Nerfed?
  3. Do you mean Ibuki and Sean are poor? I think Ibuki is ridiculously powerful, keeping with the tradition of capcom females. They always try too hard to make them better than the other characters. Her moves list (almost twice as many moves as everyone else) proves that. I don't like using Ibuki against my brother (who's the only person I play with all the time) because she's so tough.
  4. What I HATE is people who stick to the same old, same old just because it works. One of the worst examples, and pushing sticking in a rut to the extreme, is when in tag team games such as the marvel vs series, people choose the same combinations of characters. So you think Wolverine is so powerful at least team him up with cyclops, then ryu, then sabretooth. I fight people who choose Wolverine and Roll EVERY time. Man that sucks. they want to win that much they don't play the game properly. People probably even stick to the same three characters in games like KOF and MVC2. You've got an even bigger safety net for experimentation in these games. Jeez.
  5. I don't know whether some random character is more powerful than another though - say (shingo versus lin in KOF2000 or Paul versus Heihachi in Tekken 3). I like to play as every character in every fighting game and learn all their moves and tactics just to a high degree rather than excel with one or two. Same way that i don't like people who would stick with one super art in SF3 just because a FAQ said it was thye most powerful. I like mixing it up to an insane degree in all fighting games.
  6. What about ken and ryu? If you mean ken isn't as good as ryu. you're right. He's NEVER been as good despite the extra moves. Ryu is perfectly balanced and virtually un-beatable in all SFs (when played by someone who knows SF inside out) The only time an argument could be made for ken being best is in champion edition, when ken's moves offered improvements over ryu's. (knock down cyclone kick not being enough)
  7. I doubt I'll ever get xbox live but I'd like to challenge you. And no, I'm not really a Hugo specialist, I try to play as every character.
  8. These are TWEAKS and not flock/n INPUT LAG. What's wrong with you? You were saying the responsiveness was wrong. Now you are saying something completely different. And I've said I don't care about these tweaks, they ARE improvements. Just because the arcade version was first, who says that is the best?. The tweaks won't make THAT much difference anyway. I'd still kick your ass with Hugo, DC version or arcade version. I wish someone would remove the stupid infinites from the Marvel games so I could have fair games. But I suppose you would hate that improvement just because it isn't the same as the original. EDIT: This too bitchy? close it if you want. You've already closed half of the threads in the current affairs section anyway. "Power" Trip? I don't see the other new moderator Gryphonklaw closing as many threads as possible. So what if we are arguing? There is no reason to close threads as future readers could read it and make contributions. We've already discussed the SF3 conversion, now we are going more in-depth. Just because you have a close topic button doesn't mean you should use it as often as possible. When was the last time Gamecop closed a thread because of "arguing"? You should show more discretion with closing threads. Someone new could still have a worthwhile contribution to an eight month old topic. Don't ruin the forum just because you could. If it's a complete slagging match that is completely off topic maybe, but not healthy disagreement.
  9. Well as soon as K' admits he is wrong for slating the DC version over something that doesnt exist.
  10. Well that proves you are being completely daft then. How do you explain me and Sane thinking the game is very responsive and just as good as any other fighting game?
  11. Admit you were wrong for once K' (arguing the toss over you using the wrong terminology). THIS is someone who knows what's what. Good post, Sane.
  12. OMG!! That is NOT input lag. The things you have just mentioned are tweaks Capcom made in an attempt to make the game better. All this time I was arguing the fact that moves come out when they should and that "input lag" doesn't exist. Combo's being removed and parrying being harder isn't anything to do with the responsiveness of the game to react to control input. Changing slightly cheesy combos and altering how balanced the characters are has nothing to do with the controls lagging. These are changes made by Capcom in order to better balance the game. I'm guessing they will have decided against these changes in the newer PS2 version because they'll have seen just how popular the arcade version in tournaments so disregarded the "improvements" they made to the DC edition. You've been comparing un-responsiveness to gameplay tweaks. It's nothing to do with the controls not reacting why Sagat could two-in-one his medium crouch kick in certain versions of Alpha but not in others. And no, I don't care. I personally would sooner play a version that has had tweaks. If the developers thought certain things were worth changing, they were.
  13. You know for a fact that you are only saying it has lag because you read it once in an article. I don't believe most things I read, especially if I read it on the Internet, least of all on forums, when any old idiot can get in there and post. When you said check this site, I actually thought it was a serious article by somebody who knows something about how Capcom made the game. Even in the slight chance that it exists, we would be talking veritable milliseconds - You'd have to have a Neo like computer code reading geek brain to be able to detect it. The only way the response time in DC 3rd Strike could be improved, was if instead of waiting until I have completed QCF+P to do the fireball, it predicted my thoughts and came out half the way thru the motion. I do QCF+P and as soon as I press Punch, the fireball is on the screen. You are saying it is a bad point of the conversion, when nobody could notice if it they hadn't read it on the "very reliable" Internet. Even if there was such thing as this lag, there would be no way anybody could be daft enough to think that a developer would put it in purposely.
  14. What's this the bloody X-Files?! Why on Earth would they put it in intentionally? What purpose does it serve? I've played the arcade and it plays exactly the same with the DC arcade sticks... I'm not noticing it because a ) I use the sticks and, b ) It isn't there. Your controllers aren't 'fine', they're controllers.
  15. Third post in a row coming up... I've been thinking about this input lag you talk about. There is no such thing as input lag in the DC version of SF3 3rd Strike or the others. I think the reason you experienced this is because you are playing it on the DC pad, which is frankly, the worst pad possible for 2D fighting games. Obviously the D-pad (which is unresponsive) and the slow shoulder triggers will be the main reason you believe this lag exists. I play both SF3 games on the DC arcade stick and there is no lag whatsoever. It controls exactly like every other quality 2D fighter I have played. There is no way that Capcom would release a game with such a bug. The last time I experienced control issues in a 2D fighter was the Sega Saturn version of Fatal Fury 3, which was just a tacky conversion all around. It seems as though you are unfairly criticising the DC version to make the PS2 version sound much better. And what's the answer to my question about how many animation frames the PS2 version is missing? my guess is "too many". The DC version has almost all frames (and this is incredibly important to the whole feeling of SFIII) and the loading time is extremely quick, the PS2 is notorously slow to load so even if they've worked miracles it won't compare favourably. Basically, the DC version is the best home version possible outside of emulation. (with the proper sega arcade sticks) I'm not being biased and slating the PS2 version (I own every format going), but I felt that if people are reading these posts and haven't experienced the DC version they are going to think it's not the top-notch conversion that it truly is (and preferable to the PS2 version). It's too much hassle to set the sticks up (and experience those pins and needles from hell) every time I want to play the best 2D fighting series ever. But I don't know if I can live with the frame cuts on the PS2....Hmmmm....
  16. Steve Fox is the best because he is the one who represents real life boxing the most. He doesn't only do black-out style moves (shadowy teleport), hop back before dashing in with a punch, only use punches (kick buttons do punches) and then call himself a boxer. He has a full compliment of boxing moves. He looks incredibly cool (until you see his different "win animation" face) and he kills the opposition. His dress sense also rocks. He owns basically. He also has "cobra weave" for a laugh.
  17. Although I seriously doubt they'll bother. 2D fighters don't rate highly on mass-market pr/cks agendas. Although Manhunt and Need for Speed Underground do, apparently.
  18. That movie was pants compared to the SF2 movie. Since when has Gouki been THAT evil?! He did kill Gouken but he's only evil when he fights people (with his intent to kill). He is a godamn sales merchant!! Plus the other enemies in the movie that they made up are crap and nothing to do with the SF universe. Stupid robot men with lasers and a terrible lead enemy. I thought the movie was awful.
  19. Well you being a massive KOF fan AND putting her first in the list, it is hardly surprising you like her best Anyway, Dudley is mega cool. He is one of my most chosen Street Fighters. His moves, look and gimmick are great. By the way, you missed out Steve Fox. These are my faves: 1. Steve Fox 2. Dudley 3. Heavy D
  20. I know this sounds a bit daft, but how do I create a New Playlist in WMP10? The twats have moved everything around (like they always do) and I have looked everywhere and I cannot find the "Create New Playlist" button. I usually click on the button, name the playlist and then drag the files in. But I can't find it. Please help.
  21. It didnt start out that way, but it turned out that it was a PC Technical help question in the end!
  22. Thanks for the help K'Dash. The program you suggested didnt work at first but I found it out. What was happening was when I tried to convert the dodgy MP3s to good MP3s it said the file was in use and cannot continue. So I had to convert the "Read-Only" MP3s (Thats what Windows called them when I tried to move them) into WAVs and then convert the WAVs into proper MP3s. Very weird but they work. Thanks for the program dude.
  23. The problem I a having is that I have an album where the MP3s inside don't work with Windows Media Player. It says that they are MP3s but only work when opened in thr Real One Player. I want to convert these dodgy files into WAVs or MP3s that actually work.
