  1. I doesn't make an iota of difference if the scum parents' grandparents weren't scum. You only need a pair of crap parents. It doesn't matter how they got crap. It is painfully obvious which people are just unbelievably horrible and skanks. You see loads of scum every day who should under no circumstances have children. I agree, it is quite hard to see which parents should be in the experiment, but I think finding the scum couple would be pretty easy. You'd just have to find any detestable couple and use them.
  2. The best experiment you could do to prove which is more important is to swap children of 2 different families. Child A would be a child concieved by scum bag parents (tramps who get pregnant when they are 15, don't want to have the child, and are basically horrible people). This child obviously has crap genes and would probably grow up to be just as scummy as their parents. Child B would be concieved by 2 good, clever people who you would expect to be great parents. This child should have great genes and a great upbringing. However if you swiched the children (no one would agree to it, I know) so the good parents get the kid with crappy scum genes and the horrible skank parents get the good child you could see which child turned out to be nice/clever/successful etc. I personally think a child with crap genes could be still taught to be polite and successful if the parents did a good job and the child was raised in a loving home. whereas the child with good genes but brought up by unworthy parents would be disadvantaged and sullied for life by a terrible upbringing. I feel they would find it incredibly hard/ nigh-on impossible to make something of themselves afterwards even if they had an incling of motivation to do so. Which I seriously doubt they would. They wouldn't know good from bad, right from wrong, so would be happy living their life as worthlessly and pointlessly as their parents did. imo the genes are nowhere near as important as the upbringing. But obviously, I don't know for sure. Does anyone else agree this experiment would be the only true way (and even then, not set in stone) to see which is important? The judge of the parents would have to be good in order for the experiment to work as fairly as possible. It would be impossible to do this though as good parents would never give up their child. Hope you all understand what I'm getting at.
  3. THE SITE This is the best site for artwork from all fighting games. It also has good information if you are not already a fighting game know-it-all...like me The characters section is offline at the moment, but when they are there, they are great. Lots of opinions on there too (some are daft opinions) on the games and characters. The dude in charge seems OK, but he hates the Powerstone characters. They rule. Anyway, lots of you know about it, but if you don't - go there. It's very good.
  4. Hell yeah! 94 and 95 are still my favourites. Old school, great feeling, awesome sounds, lovely looking visuals. I love 94/5. And the SVC stench on 2003 makes that one the worst yet imo. And Hotaru is back. OMG! She is an even worse character design than bloody Ingrid from CFJ. Sickly, unoriginal little girls who have NO character.
  5. I hope you aren't kidding. I think it's interesting.
  6. Argument Winner - Look at the updated Official Tekken 5 site. Paul's Information has been included now. And Paul's Fighting Style is..... So there you go. I'm loathe to say it, but it is quite wise not to disagree with me/us most of the time... I was only 16 when I figured out what Namco intended with Paul's fighting style. So it proves I thought along the same lines as developers even back then (and I was relatively daft in those days, compared to how much I know now). Good Judo information before though...
  7. 3s characters = All Super Arts, 2 Stock, EX-able moves(ala SF3), Parrying, RUNNING SF2 Characters = 1 super (SF2), overall strongest characters in the game(overall, but their pretty balanced), dash Darkstalkers = All EX-able moves, air comboable, practically a more balanced version of their Vampire Savoir bar, dash SFZ3 = Too bad Rose has V-ism, thats practically her worst mode to play in, but it retains all V-ism properties, they added the ability to use Lvl.1 Supers apparently. Warzards = System based on the arcade version of Warzards. Ingrid = Based on CFAS'. 3 Level Supers, kinda like the C-ism. But completely different. Imo, it isn't like CVS2 in anyway since might can't choose you're fighting style. SF Zero character use V-ism?! That sucks. Especially for Alpha only characters like Guy and Rose. Stupid gimps. Do the Vampire characters have the recovering energy bar? And also, Ingrid is terrible.
  8. I didn’t contradict myself my brother (for indeed Shin_Nihon_Kikaku is TWO people ) wrote the bit about ‘that’s what namco said his fighting style was’ by mistake. They didn’t. I never read it in a manual. All this comes from the fact that I’m a designer, and I look at what a developer was attempting with any particular aspect of a game, a character concept, a background, a play mechanic, a story element. It’s my job to understand what a developer was aiming for. With Paul I came to the conclusion that he was supposed to be using a Judo type style. (due to his throws and a few other subtelties). This makes sense when viewed within the context that it was from a game created in the incredibly, naive mid-nineties (A time in which the renderings and concepts of even top-flight Japanese developers were often wide of the mark). It was of a more innocent age, a time when characters didn’t truly attempt to fit fighting styles, this came far later, when Tekken 3 decided to follow Virtua Fighter’s lead and introduced more believable styles, notably with their attempt at ‘Capoeira’ – interestingly enough it is at this time when Paul abandoned his original (weak) concept and veered off into the realms of being the Akira clone that he is today. This ‘realism’ only came into full effect when Vale Tudo and Boxing were introduced in Tekken 4, [Namco later stated that the prime concept in T4 was realism, which they felt was a poor decision, they are reverting to the un-realistic style of previous Tekkens with the advent of Tekken 5]. The only other character with a fighting style in Tekken 1 was King. Everyone knows that he was supposed to be a wrestler, but only a few of his moves were wrestling style moves. All King had was a few wrestling throws (about 4) and a dropkick. His other moves were nothing like wrestling moves. Every other character just had different types of random attacks, but they didn't really fit into any fighting style [Namco’s admission of the series only taking a realistic bent by Tekken 4’s introduction confirms this]. All this started because really, you misunderstood what I said. I said that Paul used a judo based style, I didn't say "he uses Judo". I didn’t realise Judo as a sport differed as much from Judo as an art though (I now realise that any striking attacks that existed will have been removed by Olympic officials ass-footing around the issue of full-contact). But still, there can’t be a real answer to this ‘disagreement’. And, really, who cares? It’s a triviality and I don’t feel that strongly about it (unlike a lot of the topics on this forum). Plus we are about a million miles off topic so I suggest we shake hands and end it right now.
  9. An 'other' option is way too broad and proves nothing. If someone voted for other it could mean anything. If other was winning the poll, does that mean Muscle Power is the fave? Does it mean Armor King is the fave? Or does it mean that a group of 5 different characters are the favourite? I see that Other is nearly winning in Kyokugenkiss just because ppl want to have a backlash against him and his (admittedly not very wide ranging) decisions as he missed all your "favourites" off.
  10. That's just silly. Of course people are going to have other favorites. Even if any one of us was some infallible judge of "main" videogame characters, it's ridiculous to think that everybody's favorites would always be covered there. Why should people compromise their tastes just to vote in a poll that's only for fun anyway? Maybe somebody LIKED the Star Trek armor? I sure as heck didn't, but I thought plain ol' King was pretty boring too. That doesn't mean it's an invalid choice. It's not everyones favourites, but it should be the main candidates. And I'm not saying people can't like wrestlers that aren't there, but the idea of a poll is to see which out of the 10 possible choices is your favourite. You are making no contribution to the poll by listing guys that aren't there (only listing them because they aren't there, not because they WOULD have voted for them if they were). It is an invalid choice, as there can be only 10 choices. And putting 2 Kings in there would be ridiculous. If you like Armor King so much, vote for regular King. He is nearly the same.
  11. You're right....except for liking SNKs mechanics more. But that's just an opinion. Although I'd take any fighting games mechanics over CVS.
  12. Looks like good DC emulation will be a while off yet. It seems only 5% or so of the games work, and I'm guessing they are far less than perfect. I haven't tried any DC emu yet, as I think they will be either too slow (FPS) or uncompatible. I'll try a DC emulator in a year or two.
  13. I'm not looking forward to any in particular. But probably NGBC as it doesn't look as much like the terrible Capcom vs SNK series. I would look forward to CFJ if there were new sprites, better animation and a completely new feeling to CvS, but it won't. Plus Aoshi, you spelled CFJ wrong. And also, if you didnt want us to confuse the game with the American TV channel, then put NGBC instead.
  14. I hope you have an excuse for saying this - as in, you're about 11, because even if we are only talking about games characters.it's not very funny and bordering on sexual assault.
  15. Paul's moves in Tekken 1 weren't very judo, but that's what Namco said his fighting style was. And no you couldn't put judo in a fighting game without adding some "out of place" striking attacks. Even a wrestling game would need some punchs and kicks. Creating a character on a fighting game with ONLY throws and holds would be a terrible idea. A wrestler in a fighting game still has to use basic fighting game tactics (Punch combos, guarding and jumping on a downed opponent etc etc) but only adds certain wrestling moves that would work in the principles of a fighting game. If Wolf could only do wrestling moves and had to pin or make his opponent submit to win, then he would be a ridiculously crap character to play as. It's the same as a proper judo fighter. If he only had throws that truly represented the sport they would be grapples attempting to force the opponent over to try and score 'waza-ari's and 'ippon's it wouldn't work as the opponent (say a boxer or karate fighter) wouldn't have the same objectives, they wouldn't be able to counter and bash buttons to try to push him over instead. Characters such as wrestling or judo can only be loosely represented, and paul's representation was as loose as is possible. the fighting styles in Tekken today are still mish-mashes of styles and don't reflect any true disciplines.
  16. This is looking like a good close poll so far. Mainly between Zangy, Wolf and Tizoc (who are all awesome).
  17. You are all only saying Armor King because he is not in the list. You all know for a fact that regular King is better than a daft clone with Star Trek style armour on. All that happens on polls on forums is people not voting, but try to think they are clever by listing people that aren't there. The 10 I put up there (I did forget Tizoc initially) are the main videogame wrestlers. Don't bother saying you would have voted for Tsugumi from Fatal Fury Wild Ambition if he was there, because nobody in their right mind would. BTW, Namco killed off Armor King because he was awful. Why don't you want to vote for the original King instead of the new one who replaced him in Tekken 3 onwards? Some people are daft enough.
  18. Well that's weird because every time I read your posts I imagine you look like Michael Richards.
  19. Well I tried your advise and it makes the files bigger than they originally were!! I rared up a bin and cue file together that were originally 750MB, but when I compressed them (best compression), the rar file ended up being 800MB! What the hell is going on?! Thanks
  20. I like and know good fashion. But I don't think I'd want a section.
  21. Nah I don't look like Kim, I look like the guy on my website but with slightly longer hair and stubble. BTW, you can click the filterised pic to see the un-filtered picture.
  22. Sorry Jjang. That was just a joke. Really I look like more like Paul Phoenix with long hair (Tekken 4). One of my best friends is Asian if that means anything to you. (He's originally from Hong Kong)
  23. Wow thanks dude, I never even saw the option to change compression method.
  24. When I get Isos, they are always RARed up to the eyeballs and are compressed by about 50%. For example, a 500MB rar will contain files that add up to 1GB when extracted. The problem is, when I right click a file and put Add to Archive (this maybe wrong), it only compresses my file(s) by about 2 MB. Is there a way to compress my files down a considerable amount so I can fit more onto my CD-Rs? I don't mind extracting multiple times if that works. I would just like to do things like, rar up 2 files that add up to 750MB so I can fit them onto a 700MB CD-R. Thanks
