  1. I'd prefer a Crisis Zone DVD in there. Or an import VF4 Final Tuned.
  2. My favourite sitcoms are Seinfeld and Friends. BTW - I dispise Will & Grace so much it's unbelievable.
  3. Good point. I'm not trying to fall out with anyone, just telling Agozer to watch what he is doing so he doesn't spoil it for everyone else. I have no beef with all the other mods, it's just the way Agozer (who is new) is conducting himself. Every so often, a mod will move topics, or give suggestions, but that's what some of them feel neccessary. It's just Agozer is getting slightly out of hand.
  4. That is true (I did already think of that), but that's not gonna stop him continuing to close other peoples threads at the drop of a hat. So I obviously want the interesting judo topic back, but I also want everyone else to feel that they can post topics without worrying Agozer is gonna close them a day after, if he feels they are 'lame'. They may sound like fighting words, but how else will I get him (and maybe others)to stop ruining the forum?
  5. Can someone else in admin please KEEP AGOZER IN LINE?! What the hell is he playing at? He wants wrapping up like his avatar (that I'm sick of seeing, not being able to use photoshop is no excuse for associating one of the enemies from Metal Slug 2 with agozer forever more...) When did he ever have anything to say in the judo discussion? He was there like a friggin' shot when he had a chance to close it though wasn't he? It was still ongoing, it was moved to it's own topic so it wasn't interfering with the thread it started in and 2 people had already commented about how they thought it was a good discussion with good points being brought up by both contributing parties. Daeval went to the trouble of moving this topic into it's own thread (so it didn't affect the Best Boxer poll as much as it could) and then Agozer closes it a few hours later. Cheeky sod. Although KyokugenKiss was perhaps the rudest as he appealed for the topics closure just because he didn't like it. I don't like his 2D/SNK biased boxers poll, but I don't ask for it to be closed. Is having the thread still open going to affect his life so much that he wants it closed? If you don't like the topic, don't go looking through its posts. I've been on this forum for a year and I don't EVER remember one topic being closed until about two weeks ago when Agozer became a moderator. They are now being closed left, right and center. The 'close a topic' feature should be used when people are flying off the handle (and off-topic) or being abusive. This had only just been made into it's own thread and people were still in mid conversation. Regardless of your personal thoughts on the Judo topic it was a lot more in-depth and worthwhile than many of the stupid topics that receive nothing but one sentence replies. Or worse still - 'rhyming' topics. Agozer's just gone power mad. I would NEVER expect to see Gryphonklaw (the other new moderator) close a topic unless it was for one of the reasons stated previously. He knows what he's doing, always posts interesting or helpful replies and seems like a clever person from what I've read. He can obviously control the use of his new 'moderator' buttons. Gamecop could do anything like this at any time and he never does, because he hasn't become drunk on power overnight. So are you going to be entirely predictable and close this one also Agozer? What a predicament you must face here. It's nothing personal, i'm just hatin' your actions of late which are seriously in danger of rendering this forum useless. What's the point making a new thread if it's at risk of being closed a week later? I bet you've closed more topics in the last two or three weeks than Gamecop has in 1Emulation's history. Why don't you surprise me by being utterly 'un-agozer' and re-open the judo thread you just closed seeing as daeval hasn't had a chance to respond to a post he was waiting for?
  6. This thread is sh!t. .................isn't it?
  7. That Shiranui ninja team would be a good idea (even better if it had Genan from Samurai Shodown ). I'm not a massive fan of Hokotomaru, but that would give him some character. I don't know about how powerful or offensive Andy is, but I just love his look and moveslist. Plus he is far too essential to be missing from any KOF/SVC/CVS. Silly beggers. Whatever happened to the MANDATORY Fatal Fury team from KOF94-2002 anyway? Plus, I don't care if Andy is absent in the story. The story came second. They only come up with rubbish like "he's looking after that crap Ibuki rip-off" to explain away the fact that they've omitted an essential character. Which still stands. WHY did they do it? (other than to maintain the fact that he was also ridiculously omitted from CVS series) Be daft enough to break the legendary 'Lone Wolves' up if you want but DON'T do it in a game that is supposed to represent SNK and Capcom's history, my God.
  8. I wouldn't mind King with long hair. But that's because I don't find short haored women attractive. I don't think that even the most beautiful women can pull it off. They still end up looking like boys. That's just my taste though. BTW, the super move explosions on them fake pics look just as bad as 2003, I hope that they would change them.
  9. At last, someone else who likes World Heroes! I know it wasn't one of the best ever 2D fighters, but I found it very fun to play. Finishing WH Perfect in the arcades with Erick and Rasputin. great stuff!
  10. Why is talking about comics OK, but discussing games isn't? Just because you like comics more than games? Well I don't.
  11. Yeah, and Paul's is based on judo. Just as Kings is based on wrestling and Brian is based on kickboxing. Both (until Tekken 4 at least) were crap representations of the actual style as they only had a few moves from their particular style and lots of other moves thrown in. Wolf is as good a representation of a wrestler as you can get in a fighting game, obviously he has a few out of place wrestling techniques to make sure he plays similar to the other fighters, but most of his moves could be seen in an actual wrestling match. King however, is a far less "realistic" take on the wrestling fighting style (with his twirling dropkicks, flying flaming, ax handle smash and head first dives etc). The arts in Tekken are incredibly stylised, so many of Paul's techniques look judo influenced but are stylised and enhanced which makes you unable to spot the similarities. Comparing King with Wolf, proves that VF has the better take on fighting styles, but comparing Paul and Goh's judo styles highlights even more difference. But that's why they say Paul is only judo based (as he will have been that way initially but developed different techniques that took him further and further away from his starting concept) whereas King is just - Pro Wrestling. BTW: Cominus is right (he was harsh, but you may have deserved it), Paul's style is most definitely 3 or more fighting styles mixed together, but his fighting style looks as if he learned judo, wanted to kick people's ass even more, and then compounded his ability by incorporating more powerful techniques from traditional karate and other styles. Hence "Judo-based Martial Arts". I think the pinacle of Paul's judo was in Tekken 2 - when they added more judo style moves, and before they added the Akira style power attacks in 3 and 4. In Tekken 2 it was very clear that he was using a base set of judo techniques(with less of the other styles mixed in at that point) with his takedown counters, his punch when opponents are down and his tackle (db LP + RP) to name a few. Another reason why I thought Paul was judo was his look. His thick red gi (coloured the way lots of judo gi's are) with a logo on his back and the fact that he is an American/western competitor focusing on a style that is well known in the west. He isn't doing a martial art that would contradict his American roots, like some bizarre, unheard of art like Xinyi Liuhe Quan. Also, bare in mind that this game (Tekken 1) was the first (almost) realistic fighting game where fighting styles could be part of the game (which was in an alpha phase of development with Virtua Fighter) and so I was trying to look for fighting styles in Namco's rival game. At this time, games never really tried to achieve proper fighting styles so I didn't have anything to compare this to and thought Paul's style was most like judo. Even VF was appalling with fighting styles back then. Both VF1 and Tekken1 were almost like Mortal Kombat with how characters had the same basic moves but with 5 or 6 special attacks. These few specials were the only thing that set the characters apart (except for their appearance) and therefore the only way to judge the fighting style. Jacky was suppose to be a JKD fighter (and people all picked up on this, I know I did) and all he had (that were even slightly JKD based) was a double roundhouse, a knee (lots of characters also had this move), a thrusting kick and a special persue attack when the opponent was down. Even his throws seemed nothing like JKD and more like rough wrestling slams. Unless you feel that a flying backflip kick is JKD, Jacky was only very slightly more JKD than Paul was judo. Games in those days were all that bad at fighting styles. Namco did just enough for my mind to realise they were aiming for Judo and not enough for you to realise it. It means I understood games and designers better than you ever will (I don't care how much you know about real fighting arts). Bottom line is: In 1994 I thought Jacky and Sarah were JKD fighters, I thought King and Wolf were wrestlers, and I thought Paul was a Judo fighter. You disputed that he was even meant to be for ages (the reason you posted again and again and why the argument has gone on as long as it has, review your posts that comprise this argument in the early stages if you don't believe it)
  12. All I'm gonna say at the moment (before I go to bed) is that half of your argument is aimed at Namco. If you don't like how they implement judo, moan to them about it. I'll talk more about Pauls judo subtleties tomorrow morning when I wake up. For now, I'm off to bed.
  13. The neighbourhood obviously only made her look slightly different (clothes, hair, cleanliness etc). If both her parents were downright ugly looking trailor trash, she would look very ugly also. I think this film sounds more like a spin on how genes and upbringings actually work. In real life, the genes affect physical appearance much more than how they are brought up. It is true that nature and nurture can or do affect both the physical and mental parts of a person. But i think that nature affects physical more and nurture afects the mental side more.
  14. Yeah I think the experiment would produce very interesting results but the test could never be done. Which is a shame really.
  15. I understand what you were getting at now. I was only considering that it didn't matter how the parents who were to raise the children, got how they were (good or bad people). I didn't realise that you were talking about how you would find the children with the definite bad genes because when I came up with this far-fetched experiment I wasn't thinking about that. It could never be a real experiment and was all hypothetical so I didn't go into how you could 'make sure' that the children in the experiment had the genes they were supposed to have. There would be many more problems that would arise to call into question the purity or accuracy of the test. So hypothetically, you would agree that, if it could all work as it was supposed to, the upbringing would affect the outcome far more?
  16. No. Surely you understand that genes (nature) alter your physical appearance and the environment (nurture) alters the mental side... You have mixed up.
  17. Losers, you should use all of his moveslist. I hate how people only choose a limited number of moves that they think are worth doing and stick only to them. Even if they win with a basic knowledge of the character, they still aren't as good at the game as they could be. Even the most subtle elbow or shin kick could offer strategy that they just don't know about. Idiots. You need a pretty good memory to be able to do this but; I know every single move for every character from Tekken 3, Tekken 4, VF3 and VF4 (normal and evo). That makes these games incredible fun to play and show off on. I'm wasn't getting at you dude, just replying to what you said.
  18. Oh man! You are loving this game! Things that I think are great: Jedah and Demitri from Vampire, Alex from SF3, the inclusion of Rose and Vega, and the fact that they at least brought a more hardcore Capcom game into the fray with Warzard/Red Earth. Things that I hate: Associating Chun-Li with SF3 instead of 2, Including the awful looking Ingrid instead of Rook, DD or Haggar, making it look like CVS. Things that I think are almost genius: Bringing Pyron back as a god like power dude (mega last boss like Shin Gouki). There you go. Still not very anxious to get hold of the game, but it sounds 10 times better than it first did back at E3. Thanks K'dude
  19. It wasn't a bad argument earlier on, until I found proof that I was right. Then you had to keep coming back in an attempt to have the last word. You are just rambling now. You don't even know what you're disagreeing with anymore. And on the "Why isn't Ryu judo", "why isn't bloody Zangief judo"? debacle, you are being absurd - Ryu's actions wouldn't make anyone think he was supposed to be a judo character. (Just because he uses two throws that could be mis-interpreted as being "judo style") Paul used far more than that, numerous throws and other subtelties that to my mind added up to = Namco attempting judo badly, I didn't think Michelle was supposed to be wrestling based because she had a german suplex for one of her throws.... The whole argument, as you obviously forgot ages ago, was that 1. I said Paul was supposed to be Judo based (based on me forming that opinion in 94, knowing what the designer's were aiming for, whether you feel they achieved it or not). 2. You said he wasn't supposed to be. 3. I later found proof (proof that I didn't think existed until earlier today) that I was right, he DID use a Judo based style. You then changed your argument to "I don't care what Namco say he is, he doesn't look like it" in a stupid attempt to continue something that was over. And what you are arguing about now I have NO idea. You are making a fool of yourself just because I was right. We 'shook hands' on this ages ago until I found the proof and now you don't like it.
  20. What is that last sentence supposed to mean? Anyway, genes and upbringing are unimportant for the new parents who are going to look after these kids. If the bad parent is a child beater or something, does it really make any difference if it was the genes that made him scum or his parent's raising him wrong? You are going too far into the genes and upbringing of the parents who would be affecting the outcome of the children. There is no need. The experiment makes sense, but you don't.
  21. It makes NO difference how they became scum. We would be trying trying to prove which makes a difference in the new children. Who cares how they became crap (I'm repeating myself, but that's because I'm trying to drill it into your head). It just seems like you don't understand what I said before. I'll list it very basically: crap parents look after good kid Good parents look after crap genes kid. See who turns out best. How can grandparents affect this experiment in any way what so ever? It doesn't matter if the crap parents are crap because of their genes or upbringing. Just the fact that they can't look after children properly is the be-all and end-all.
  22. Actually, Ever since Tekken 1 came out in the arcades I knew Namco were going for a judo style character. Although it was appallingly done, I saw that he was 'supposed' to be judo. I've covered all this before. Now it doesn't matter if you make no connection between judo and Paul's moves. I could see that Namco tried to make him a judo fighter 10 years ago. As a designer, I try to see why or how they have done what they have done. The Fact that I knew what they were going for (based on his few throws), proves that I know how to do my job. He is only judo BASED you know. It seems like you should direct your argument at Namco and not me.
