  1. XP needs 10 to even work. Huh? 10 what?
  2. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=30128 What that story doesn't tell you, is that the 800MB is Pagefile use ONLY! Anyone with some brains can see that it's also eating roughly 400MB of physical RAM! Added note, it also requires roughly 7GB of hard drive space!?!? Uber ultimate bloatware supreme! I'm sticking to my guns, no more Windows for me........ever. Linux HO!!!
  3. I'm sure neither sypherce or Gamecop expected anything to ever make a commercial mag....... No homebrew dev does and I highly doubt Gamecop ever even dreamt it. Coolness......
  4. Coolness......maybe I can go without buying some PS2 hardware afterall and just pick up some of the games I want. Given that it'll be like a year before I can afford to build a new PC, I see no reason why it wouldn't be a good idea.
  5. Not that I really care to point fingers at either company in the ping-pong war that is CPUs (And GPUs for that matter), but it sure took Intel long enough, and they won't stay out in front. The generation is too early for one damn core to prove that. As for Tom's Hardware.......F**K Tom's Hardware. Those guys are stunned. If theres a biased site out there, that is it. I think they wear kneedpads and sit under the desks of execs at AMD and NvIdia. Not to mention their technical reviews are laughable at best, considering alot of their reviews consist of garbage they read off published hardware papers, and we all know what you see on paper.....means DICK. btw, I have no fanboy tendancies here. Next machine of mine will be AMD just because of their proven track record so far this gen an their strong push at the end of last gen. As for graphics cards........dunno, I'll see whats going on when I build. Oh and Shiba, Ghz doesn't mean a thing beyond raw speed capability. We're at a wall with regards to that right now. Raw speed = more heat, too much heat at this point to be worth the performance. You think the latest X86 at like 3.6Ghz could outperform even a G4 PPC at like 1.2Ghz? Fat chance in a snowballs hell.
  6. No, it's not even fully POSIX compliant.
  7. I see newer sound cards don't come with midi/gameport. Rather (at least with that card) a header is provided. Do they provide the port plug for the header with the card? Is it some sort of dongle? I'm still running a Live MP3+ 5.1. Next PC I build I'll definitely be upgrading my soundcard. I still have and use my gameport controllers (Hell I have a homemade LPT SNES adapter)
  8. Am I the only one recognizing that OSX is custom BSD, a Unix branch? Just like Linux...... You can put holes in any OS, and you could close any as well (Ahem! Windows!) if you cared to put the effort in, or in the case of creating holes.......not care. Why would Apple care when they have one millionth the installed userbase Windows does, and probably one hundredth the userbase popular Linux distributions do? It's all about their proprietary flamer hardware anyway. Computers that look like lamps, TVs, toasters....... The ONLY thing to like about Macs, are PPC.........and those are available in other, more power and secure flavours.
  9. I'm unimpressed by all the "high end" case manufacturers designs, not to mention their prices. I'd much rather fab my own aluminum case in that regard. Theres nothing special about any Antec or Lian Li's cases that warrants their retarded prices.
  10. What the hell am I missing? It looks boring as hell. Science project......meet Pac Man.
  11. #1: Any case worth a crap will support Full ATX or Micro ATX. Check the specs. (If you had read them,, they say so ) #2: The ports come with the case. Your motherboard needs a header on it. Simply hook up the ports to the header with (should be) provided cable. As for anything you should know...... If the case comes with screws for the motherboard, use them, don't use the ones from the other case. They provide screws for a reason, and they could be slightly different in thread count for instance. Secondly, pull EVERYTHING out of the motherboard save the CPU. Don't leave RAM in when changing out. I say this because you never know what might happen. You don't want to be bumping the sticks of RAM as you put the motherboard in the new case. Very unlikely anything will happen that you'd break something, but better safe then sorry. Oh and while you have the motherboard out, blow the $hit out of it with some dusting gas. Clean it up real good while you have such an easy opportunity.
  12. I have the big @$$ strategy guides from Brady Games (I think it's Brady games, the books are boxed up) for VII and VIII. Funny how I don't buy them until after I have beaten a game at least once though, at that point I just want to find everything I possibly can in a game.
  13. Acclaim was a very big contender from the N64 back, I don't know how old you are..... Turok pwnz you. And the Quarterback Club series kicks Madden's @$$ all over the place.
  14. Did you or anyone ever stop to consider the possibility that it's just Windows iteslf? Explorer isn't the greatest program around you know? It doubles as your shell AND file explorer. It DOES just up and crash on it's own too.
  15. http://www.origamiproject.com/1/
  16. Though my Xbox is currently softmodded, I own an Xecuter 3 that I'm too lazy to install again. LPC pinheader method, fully wired is the best way to go.....but too damn much work. Solderless (I know you're looking for a solution) is terrible no matter how high quality the adapter is, it will always displace with enough movement. I love the X3, but my softmod does what I need it to, so I guess thats why I'm so lazy and won't install the X3 again.
  17. Worked about 15 minutes after I posted that. Talk about suckage for games though, Bots looks lame, real lame.
  18. Server not found Firefox can't find the server at www.acclaim.com. Wow bankrupt already?
  19. I've never used Discguzzler, the damn program can't even recognize the layout of it's own disc images. As for Alcohol120% aka FantomCD (Yes, it IS the FantomCD of old) I can't speak bad or good about it, but FantomCD was the crap years ago. DOA2LE is Japan only, a backup of any region will work on ANY DC. No import loader/boot CD required. If Nero is what you like, Nero is all you need. Neither of the above are "required". Google Daemon Tools and get your image mounted (Read the manual if need be), then simply do a Disc Copy like you would from one CDROM to another. View Disc info in Nero to be sure a game is self booting. If the disc has 2 sessions, you're good to go. And always remember that an ISO or BIN rip, is NEVER self booting. Multisession unsupported. If you're still lost, I'll shut up. I don't know how to break things down simpler.
  20. ZiNc = Sony ZN 1/2 and Namco System 11 Tekken Tag Tournament = Namco System 12 People who don't use teh google drive me crazee! Edit: My bad, I forgot ZiNc has supported S12 for a bit now. So the answer could very well be yes.
  21. Why would anyone say they can't wait till it's playable? It'll run properly long before theres hardware capable of running it at a playable speed. Until the MAME team grows up and stops whining that HLE is inaccurate and they won't add it for that reason, you'll be seeing many games emulated that run slower than your grandma with a broken hip.
  22. Done. But when you disable the start menu, you cant play games with IPS patch, you cant record and replay, you cant view history and mameinfo... And in a Kiosk setting, thats a good thing.
  23. What I find funny is that while disabling a mod for use on Live, you can still be banned for content found on your hard drive that shouldn't be there.
  24. RTFM lol I've never encountered a router that can be put into switch mode, but thats not saying one doesn't exist. My DSL modem can be run in bridge or router mode.
  25. I installed UTorrent and gave it a shot. For such a small client it does have all the basic features and some advanced ones, but it doesn't hold a candle to Azureus, which is far more functional. Theres far more seeding rules/options available in Azureus, such as seeding to a certain ratio but only if theres x seeds per x number of peers etc. I like to make sure a torrent gets seeded well, but that if I'm not needed I can stop seeding, all without having to constantly check the client. Theres alot more than that, I'm sticking with Azureus for sure.
