I like Xp pro. If you use nlite, you can strip out all the unnecessary components, and make a really small windows that uses less resources. The computer sounds good, I can't wait to get a dual core, but i'll probably wait another year or so. My 3.2 ghz P4 is still holding up pretty good, and I haven't even overclocked it yet.

Heh, can you say "slide show"? Technically, you could play it with just about any speed computer, it's just a matter of how many frames per second you will get. Ps2 emulation is still young, to get any kind of decent speed, you need a top of the line computer.

It doesn't play any games anyway, so there's not much use in getting any games for it. Unless you're a developer (which I highly doubt)

Personally, I would upgrade the cpu before anything else. My last computer was a 1.7 ghz, and I found that that was too slow. I have the sapphire x800 gto2 and it's a great card, but I bet you wouldn't notice much difference because of the cpu.

First of all, what emulator are you using? Some of your computer specs would be helpful too. Especially what type of video card you have.

Anyone know if sony is planning on dropping the price before christmas? I'm seriously thinking about grabbing a psp, but I don't want to waste a bunch of money, and then have the price drop a bunch a couple of months later. I have a coupon for 30$ off, but it expires on oct 5.

Beware, once you start on the path to mame, you embark on a long journey to collect every rom in existence. It can be quite time consuming. I got the full romset at about version .76 - and I stopped updating after that. For some reason, the mame team decides to make changes to a bunch of roms on every new release. Quite the pain in the butt.

Just a heads up. I could not get Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing to work on any emulator for the longest time. It would always hang after the intro. Every single emulator, every plugin, same thing. Well, I finally got it to work with Xebra. It's kind of difficult to set up because its in japanese and I couldn't find any documentation. But after a lot of screwing around I got it working. What a nice suprise.

I just watch an english movie called "Severance" that was pretty good. If you like black comedy/horror movies. I'm just about to watch a nice dvdrip of Mission Impossible 3.

My first computer, I was low on hard drive space (only 10 gig hard drive) so I went looking for things to delete. Big mistake. Never delete NTUSER.DAT. It is quite important. Also, never click on a strange file with the extension .scr, .exe, or .zlq. Such as "Pam ANDErson NAKED.scr"

I remember downloading a bunch of Mame roms around 2000 or 2001. I was excited about being able to play arcade games on my computer. Unfortunatlely, I wasn't able to get it to work for almost a year, ( I think I had the normal Mame, and not the Mame32 version). Of course I was too impatient to read all the information available. I may have blundered into a couple forums asking stupid questions.. Once I finally got a rom to work though, I was hooked, and I started getting every emulator for every system ever made. Now sadly, the hunt is pretty much over. (until some newer systems get emulated )

I'll probably wait until the ps3 can play "backup" copies of games. If it ever does. But there is no way i'll buy another Nintendo system, unless by some miracle, the wii becomes the most popular console and all the good games come out for it. (I wouldn't hold my breath though)

I gotta say, I never thought we'd see ps2 emulation, at least, not for a long time. I'm very happy to see I was wrong. The emulation scene has been a bit boring for awhile. Mame hasn't really had anything exciting for a long time, and no one else is doing any emulation work (except for ports of existing emulators to other systems) Pcsx2 is quickly getting faster and better. Hopefully it won't be long before we can play our favorite ps2 games on our computers, like god intended.

One word... LOBO! I would love to be able to kick some butt as the main man. I can't believe they haven't made a Lobo game yet, it would be perfect, something like Grand theft auto, except you're a bounty hunter. I don't think Ryu (or even Akuma) would stand a chance.

I put an ungodly amount of time into Street Fighter 2. I could win against the computer on the hardest difficulty with double perfects every round with any character. My friends and I would have huge tournaments. I also spent a lot of time on final fantasy 3.
