  1. Yeh its fun... multiplayer i found was pretty decent compared to my dodgy Doom 3 and Quake 4 experiences on this crappy dsl connection. But still.. what else is new? So what there are portals which are a nice gimmick and the whole plane of gravity shifting etc but otherwise what makes this special? Seems like a solid average shooter to me.
  2. Can I just ask.. because I have no idea... what is it with Chuck Norris these days? Last I heard of him was when he acted in Delta Force... but now he seems to be this dude everyone pays out on... all over the net... howd that happen? Was there a skit of him on some show or something, or did he do something really stupid and it ended up on the news.... If youre about to say Ive been living under a rock, well, yeh, maybe... but anyway whats the deal?
  3. How and when did they retcon Geese to being alive?
  4. LMAO. You're out of your fucking fan-boy mind. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Look at the damned thing and you can tell. Or maybe you cant. Is there a fault with it? I cant pick one apart from the possible lack of a HDD but hell the DS doesnt have one. Nor do any of the GameBoys. Not even pulling specs, functions, hell emulators, or the big-deal-lack-of-a-touch-screen into this, look at them both and which one feels like something decent, and which like a child's play thing? That is senseless Nintendo bashing, sure, but its all true. Who wouldve thought you cant escape pure elitist PC bs even when talking about games.
  5. No offence to anyone, and I may well be proven wrong with this Wii thing but here goes... Nintendo doesn't operate in the red atm. However, that doesn't mean it is selling well. Im not going to make a case for 360 adoption in Japan or anything but overall Nintendo consoles are taking less and less of the market share, arent they? The NES dominated. The SNES was pretty good. The N64 trailed behind and the Gamecube trailed behind badly, depending on how you look at it. As I said, not badly enough to go out of business but badly enough to make it obvious that if the trend continues through this coming generation and maybe even the one after, Nintendo making consoles will cease to be viable. While the DS currently is outperforming the PSP, Im willing to bet that if a good string of games comes out on Sony's system, it will take off and leave the DS behind, because, as Ive also said before, the DS is essentially a gimmick, and the PSP is a conventional, well-made system that suffers heavily from a crippling lack of good games. Thats all conjecture, though. I was wondering if the all out super-expensive route Sony, and to a lesser extent Microsoft, are taking with their new consoles might turn out to be counter productive. People might find that a cheaper alternative with a differnt gimmick attached and a library of proven titles might sway their 'casual' gaming habits and their wallets to the Revolution. So maybe Nintendo's luck was about to change, and their console would really compete with the other two by going in a clever new approach. WRONG! What the hell is 'Wii' ?? It is not only a bad name, its a name SO bad it alone could turn customers off the product. Also I agree with what this analyst said "Nintendo let the code name gain a little too much currency: people were used to it, and it was widely accepted as the console's name" (Gamespot). I didnt ever think of the GameCube as 'Dolphin' really, but this is the Revolution, and to replace such a cool sounding with this non-English phonetic crap, that not only sounds gay, but has negative connotations in our language by the bucket-load. Anyway I am willing to concede that this could go either way, and that Nintendo may have done things that people consider innovative or new (although I still disagree with this notion whole-heartedly). However its undeniable that as it stands this looks like a bad marketing choice, and if you line it up with Nintendo's previous console efforts, its not hard to see the direction they are heading in. And, hopefully, in a decade or so, not even their first party software or their adventurous handheld efforts will be able to keep the sinking Nintendo brand afloat.
  6. Personally I only watched this once and wasn't impressed overall, mostly because of how highly everyone else seems to regard it. If I ever come across a DVD and UMD pack though I might get it purely for the lack of UMD discs I currently own.
  7. This sort of game is an affront to everythign I stand for. Ill concede, anything that puts the PSP ahead of the DS is ok with me though but Im still not going to buy...
  8. I just used Flashget to get them. Then they worked in WMP 10 fine. mms://wm2.streaming.ne.jp/namco/tkdr_01.wmv mms://wm2.streaming.ne.jp/namco/tkdr_02.wmv Also nowhere in that Gamespot article is the date 5/5 mentioned.
  9. That 5/5 date (GameFAQs right?) has got to be wrong. Its way too far ahead of the other regions. Also shops and all havnt started listing it yet. Having said that.. if it does come out in 2 weeks... ohhh yehhh...
  10. CPS-3 still... since I still don't have a copy of SFIII and Red Earth would be nice. NAOMI just for the sake of Ikaruga.
  11. That's right. I reckon DR will hit consoles only later on... to give both arcades and the PSP a lucrative streak with the game first. After that it'll come to PS2s.. and if the gap is too long after, they'll just repackage it in the spirit of TTT for the PS3.
  12. That's amazing- I hope it's reliable. I've been seeing Q4 2006 bandied around everywhere. And either way I'm going to have to sit around a bit longer until it appears on Australian shelves anyway unless I can be bothered to import it.
  13. None of that is surprising. I would have expected a stronger western lead of the PSP though. Since release I've believed that, Japanese and hardcores aside, the PSP has no competition from the DS. Its a little unsettling for me to see that the margin is so thin. I put that down to the price at the moment being plain too expensive, and figure the PSP will take off as the price cuts come along. I definately prefer the PSP. The DS cant stand up to all the multimedia capabilities, even if the quality of each game library is debatable.
  14. Here's a question I don't think anyone has answered: will a standard non-chipped PS3 likely be able to play original PS1 and 2 games from any region?
  15. Wonderboy III The Dragon's Trap (SMS) Golden Axe (SMD) Sonic 3 (SMD) Mortal Kombat II (ARC) Riven (PC)
  16. FINALLY! Someone thats sees it other then me! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry to revive but... Tekken 5 music all round is acceptible, but it also has some really good BGMs. The BGMs from Moonlit Wilderness, and both Cathedral stages (Antares, and the snow one from DR) are great. Im serious.
  17. The backwards compatibility, free ( ? ) online service and the possibility of digital distribution of old titles are all good draws. Strangely enough the most touted BluRay media capabilities I find the hardest to get excited about. All in all I dont think Sony will fall this time. But well see.
  18. Normally I wouldnt mind the trade off of memory for flashy interface gimmicks, but this would mean if I run Doom 3 on it, say, it wont perform as well yeh? If thats the case *in theory* then Im a bit upset.
  19. According to that interview, Christopher Ganz really seem to be on the ball with the movie, and to really concentrate on the things that matter in the context of Silent Hill. I'm impressed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm extremely impressed. I can't recall (or picture) any other directors recently speak about films with such a passion (let alone directors of game movies), even if he does trip over himself in a few places. Fingers crossed, I can't see how this will turn out like Resident Evil or Doom. The only question in my mind right now is how good this will be. I'm excited.
  20. I'm so proud of our nation's schooling. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> im smarter than u. What the hell, I thought I suspended this account? Don't mind this account, I was just bored in class. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Although I'm not gonna be all bitchy about your grammar (cmon ppl its the net), your argument makes no sense logically. PS3 will sell more than PS2 coz its better than the 360? Why? Shouldnt you be saying itl sell more than the 360 coz its better than it? And it was just out of the blue too. Bear in mind that I created this thread knowing itl be better than the 360, and pointing out that the price alone will be the main detracting feature.
  21. Say the PS3 costs $900 to manufacture, and the 360 only $600, what noticable difference in quality is there going to be? And if not much, then what do you think Sony's marketing angle for such an expensive item is going to be?
  22. Uh oh Uh oh. Is the PS3 still looking all attractive now? Discuss.
