Devia Eleven Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Hey everyone, I just got my driver's license a few hours ago. Down here in Warner Robins, Georgia, not many people are out in about. The often times stressful and prolonged DMVs were avoided when my older brother took me down to the local DMV, (with me making a phone call appointment before hand, ultimately making the day less of a hassle). It took about 40 minutes total. There were about 5 people in line, but we were able to rightfully jump the line because I had scheduled an appointment weeks ago. I took my sweet time on the parallel parking and in parking overall, I had a few problems but the kind man gave me an 89/100. I swooped in, paid $35 for a 10 year license, (lasting until about 2018), and I'm good to go. PS: 3,100th post
Lucandrake Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Congrats, go towards the night and drive freely and safely!
Sybarite Paladin AxL Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Aww man, that's nice. I've yet to get mine and I'm 20.
The-Ice-Man Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I hate driving too. I'm on my third car in as many years due to two accidents. My first was hit by an articulated supermarket truck, my second by a Mitsubishi Shogun.
Robert Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Congrats on getting your licence, now I await news of your first collision! I had one little prang when on my P-plates, apart from that I'm accident-free! The other week I was driving home, and a b-double (a big rig with 2 long trailers) which was in front of me, overtook a bus, when he pulled back in he lost it. The truck jacknifed, blocking 3 of the 4 lanes, the cab came to rest against a tree, and he was stuck. No collisions or injuries. Lucky for the driver.
Ryuken Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 that reminds me, i need to get off my lazy ass and practice driving
Smilee Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 No parallel parking for me on my test. Waiting in the DMV was a biatch but at least I won't have to renew it... until next year.
KyokugenKiss Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 i barely ever drive since i moved to san francisco
Krosigrim Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Well congradulations man. The more driving you do, the better off you'll be. Just always be mindful of everything you and others do. Sounds obvious... but I see 80+% dumbasses behind the wheel. But, since your a gamer... you should have better Hand/Eye. Hows your spacial relations... as in, do you have a good feel for the dimentions of the car? I've seen people make a 5 point turn because they have NO spicial relations. They have no idea of the space their car takes up. Um... I have a complete list of pet peeves about drivers. I even created a blog all about it. One of the major ones, is when people bounce back and forth off both lines. Akihiro says stay to the right... that is good. But what I do, is immagine my transmission as the center... and allign that with the center of the road. I ride like im on a rail. oh... and please please please dont be one of those people, that if they're not hitting the gas, they're hitting the brake. If you are at a good distance, but you nottice your starting to gain... let go of the gas. EVERYONE seems to keep on the gas, then they ride the brake. !!! That forces me to hit the brake now, and a cascade effect ensues. Thats why I always miss lights and crap, because no one knows how to cruise, or accelerate out of a stop. Not to mention, the way I describe here, will save your brakes. I'm not trying to be preachy... so please don't get annoyed at me. Well, I am being preachy... but I don't mean any harm.
