Shibathedog Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I dont think alot of people here have been to the arcades in awhile. There is ALOT of stuff like this for teh arcades, Its fun, but at the same time, not really. Yeah Nintendo came up with the original Idea, and everyone else basically made their own revisions to nintendo's controller, But, its like now, they are really doing WAY more than is needed. I agree completley in them being TOO innovative. Sega took a chance with dreamcast making the VMUs, did they put a powerhouse color screen mega powerful gaming system in as a memory card? No they put something cheap, where if it didnt catch on it wouldnt really matter, whereas now, if this doesnt catch on, Nintendo is screwed because its the main point of their console. I'll give it a chance, but i dunno, Its kinda like DDR. Yeah DDR can be fun, but i dont always feel like hopping around like a retard, Just like i wont always feel like swinging a controller around like a retard.
Ryuken Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 i think the revolution is gonna have let games due to this controller and like some of u have said, it'll get boring after a while
Shibathedog Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 That new Mario game for DS looks kickass though But again, its another one of those things, it doesnt really use the bottom screen for anything terribly important Ill prolly get it soon
ken_cinder Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Reading IGNs article, they stated that 1 player could use 2 of the controllers simultaneously. Imagine games where you could wield 2 swords at once, or 2 guns.I'm starting to believe this controller is going to be awesome for certain things, and with a standard controller shell for mainstream games, there won't be any real issues.
Lucandrake Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I was asking myself, how do you play FPS games like that, i mean are you going to actually turn around completly or just move the control right to look right?
Gryph Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 I was asking myself, how do you play FPS games like that, i mean are you going to actually turn around completly or just move the control right to look right?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>The other part of the nunchaku would be used for movement while the remote thing would be used for aiming, jumping, and shooting. It could truly be better than a mouse.
Smilee Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Well the controller itself is flexible so I'm sure they would add an accessory of some sort for fps games.

Shibathedog Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Theres no way its going to be as accurate as a mouse. There are TONS of games in arcades that use this techonology and sometimes take it even further by detecting your entire body movement, its REALLY not as good as it sounds, not because it doesnt work well detecting it right, but because its just not a very fun way to play games
Agozer Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I would really appreciate if you people would keep your bashing to a minimum before we can actually test the thing ourselves.
Dooz Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Then what the flock is this topic for if we can't voice our opinions? "Yeah, I saw the controller." "Yeah, me too" "Hey, I did too. I'd tell you guys what I think of it, but becuase my opinion isn't acceptable, I won't. HAVE A GOOD DISCUSSION." "KTHX BTW I saw it too." Seriously, wtf?
Shibathedog Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 lol, i know my ranting may seem like bashing, but honestly, i am really eager to try it, I was really eager to try the DS, my brother bought one and i play it all the time, i probably seem like a nintendo-hater. In my opinion, Sony and Microsoft should get the hell out, they really dont know crap about games, they just make consoles, Nintendo/Sega/Atari/etc are the ones that know alot about games (well, maybe not Atari anymore, the ORIGINAL atari)
suvo Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 This controller would rock for shooting games.

They have surely improved upon the technology so I expect it to be as precise as a mouse. I think some people may be getting confused and thinking you have to hold and use it like a light gun like in House of the Dead. From the write ups I've read from the journalists who have used it, it sounds like a flick of a wrist is sensitive enough (which is pretty much how you handle a regular mouse). And I am the kind of person that thinks console FPSes are an abomination (besides GoldenEye ) and regular console controllers are horrible for that genre. I won't knock it before I try it but I will go ahead and mock it.
Shibathedog Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Yeah, console controllers, arent nearly as good as a mouse, i agree there. i know you dont have to be swinging your arms everywhere, but im sure some kinds of crazy games are going to require you too. I think i have another example, The EyeToy, Its fun, i like the idea, its innovative, but its never truely caught on, and sometimes i dont feel like moving around and hopping around to play a video game.
