  1. oh, and NeuronMaster, how exactly is the Congressional Black Caucus 'racist'? that's a pretty disgusting comment and i'd sure liek to hear you back it up. Oh, and to hear some of you stand back and argue like you know everything is pretty sad. You stand and you preach but you don't know and you don't GET INVOLVED. I'm traveling to Pennyslvania the weekend before the election to help the Kerry campaign BECAUSE I CARE. So know what you stand for and back up your views with actions, not words, before you all spout off. P.S. - GEORGE W. BUSH is the one weakening the U.S. military because PEOPLE ARE GETTING KILLED IN IRAQ!! Anybody who doesn't see the war for the mistake that it is is in denial, on a religious crusade, or a mindless drone of Karl Rove. Enough said.
  2. To clear this up - Joe is WAY overpowered in CvS 2, especially his MAX twin-tornado super, which delivers the ownage on even the cheapest roll-cancelingest roll-cancelers out there. Joe is overpowered because he sucked so much in CvS 1 PRO (1 super, no balance). He was there because Capcom needed another new character to balance out Dan (!). So, the overcompensated to the SNK fanboys by overpowering Joe, Terry, King, and Nakoruru in CvS2. As for Demitri, he has had the demon effects since Darkstalkers 1 in 1995. Of course, in SVC they changed his teleport dash from (f,f or b,b ) to ( hold B+C, then b,f or f,b ) to limit his scrubability. His down attacks still make him pretty cheap, especially his Midnight Bliss super (d, f, df + AC), which is a quick motion which comes out of nowhere and is unblockable. and i'm sorry Kyokugen, but Demitri looks better in Darkstalkers III than in SVC. The art style in SVC may be more interesting, but all the characters are too rigid and lack color. wonder if anybody's gonna read the whole thing...
  3. 1. get broadband. 2. 900ms sounds like something more than just a slow connection.. run a virus/spyware scan. sounds like you have bandwidth gnomes.. as for Blazer, i think that your ping is about right(but a little high) for an ADSL connection. unless you find a close server you won't get less than 100. why not start your own server?

P.S. Open question: i once heard the rumor (never verified) that, in secret, ElSemi and Razoola are actually the same person. any truth to that?
  5. yup... i always got mad playing as sagat and seeing his arms go through the opponent and a fireball magically appear on the other side, with no hit registering. and hyo? what are you smoking? at least put in hideo, edge or hayato before you add in freaky boss characters... back in my younger days of rival schools (PS1) my buddies and i often referred to hyo as "george washington on crack". enough said.
  6. damn straight. having megaman x - not the wuss-boy megaman from mm1-8 or zero from megaman zero - in his full X3 techno-samurai anime-style glory would rule.   8. perhaps, but there's always room for improvement. the main problem is that nebula is not officially dead yet, the writers are still protective of teh code. i would say take the problem to an undergrounder like razoola and maybe he can get something done on it. hes included transparency files and fixes in his bios releases in the past, so i'm sure he has some knowledge of what to do. (if he's not to busy cracking the Progear XOR's!).

Rather than SS2, Last Blade 2 is left mostly untranslated, they way it should be, and the victory quotes,etc. are understandable. actually the worst SNKGrish in recent years is probably Rage of the Dragons, although shock troopers may hold the 'worst SNKgrish ever title' (worst Engrish goes to Zero Wing (Genesis) of course.
  10. perhaps, but Sega already has experience in dating sims (Roommania #202 by the Wave Master studio- Japan DC only). I think this is really more of a 'tech demo' to show off the DS's new features - much in the same way Nintendo used the original F-Zero to tech demo Mode 7. What i want is a PSP port of SegaGaGa. that would rock, and it's a shame it was never released outside of japan. edit -makes more sense

Right you are Gryph. an official microsoft press conference/release confirmed "Xbox NEXT" no be hard-driveless, apparently due to size and heating (read: PIRACY BITCHEZ!!!) issues. also, the increased cost of a HD apparently doesn't fit into new business plan (i.e. "we're not going to say we'll own the market within 3 months of release like we said last time").

  14. i concur with Gryph. A smaller XBox will proably help Japanese sales (i.e. make total number of units sold go from 3 to 4 ) but i still don't understand M$'s 2-market strategy. Sony and Nintendo do so well because they feel like they're coming straight from japan. M$'s two-console-design idea only shows how stupid we Americans are. BTW, anybody notice that whenver somebody beats Microsoft at something, they just hire them? Peter Moore, quoted in the article, used to be a VP at Sega of America. Same with Ken Lobb, a former nintendo exec. Stupid Gates and his money.... PS - Everyone in the US watch the vice-presidential debate tonight. Hopefully John Edwards will destroy Cheney to the point that he 1. has a heart attack or 2. tells edwards to "Go F**k himself". Vote Kerry.

  17. SKythe is indeed correct. I dunno. Graphics aside, IMO the xbox joypad just doesn't work well for fighting games. i know it has 6 face buttons but the black and white hp/hk buttons give you blisters because of the poor 'egg' shape. the control pad is also a bad reach for the thumb. If you reconfigure the pad, u have the soame problem as the dreamcast - cramped fingers from the shoulders. The Xbox does have better graphics and online play but i bet the quality of that play, due to the control issues, won't be nearly up to arcade par. i'll be sticking with HSF: AE on my PS2.

  19. x-plane rules. u really need a joystick tho, and some knowledge of actual flight is required. although u can still just cruise and design fantasy planes. (any real air or space craft - X-plane now is compatibile with earth, mars, and all the space in between - can be modeled to 95% flight characteristic accuracy). x-plane.com is actually having a half frice sale for the soon-to-be-discontinued version 7 so act fast gryph. actually i'm pretty pissed because xplane 7 has a massive compatibility error with my graphics card (jaton nvidia geforce fx5600x-256). the damn program crashes on startup, and because the entire thing is programmed by 1 dude, tech support is sporadic at best. still, xplane rules.
  20. sorry to bump this one page but this deserves correction: The phrase "CapCom" actually dates back to 1961, when it was the title assigned by NASA to the Capsule Communicator (get it?) who was in charge of talking directly to the first astronauts while they were in orbit. although it did become "capsule computer" over the years i believe Capcom chose their company name after the NASA guys.
  21. i use my pc mostly for simulation (x-plane), CAD, and emulation. don't play much pc games at all... surprisingly, the best new console games are the ones that are updates of old or simle concepts. most of my waking hours outside of class and orchestra are being devoured by R-Type Final. so far i have 92/101 total ships... edit - more info
  22. SpaceShip One has a pressurized cabin and the passengers don't need space suits. However, SS1 itself is too small for mass space tourism; a second generation would have to be developed for profitability. NOTE: At around 10:00 AM US Pacific time, test astronaut Mike Mevill piloted SpaceShip 1 to 300,000 feet (technically space) for the first of 2 x-prize flights. I'm studying to be an aeronautical engineer, and i tell you, Burt Rutan is a genius.
  23. i for one seriously doubt that any of the 'surprise features' of the DS will be at all revolutionary. Why? Price. adding hub capabilities would only make the DS more expensive to produce (not counting the already relatively high price of touch-screen technology, etc). Nintendo cannot simply afford gigantic losses on each hardware sale. Remember that Sony undercuts its prices drastically (even when they sold for $300 US sony made a loss on every ps2 it sold) because sales from its other product lines counterbalance the losses until software sales balance it out. The PSP will work the same way - if it sells for $149 sony is losing money but will swipe the market share, making its software sales more lucrative to earn back the money. Because Nintendo is not nearly as large or as (in recent years) financially successful, i think the hub will be no-go. just look at the Gamecube network adapter.... not promising. i should have studied accounting...
  24. wait... i wouldn't quite call it dead. passing judgement on something before it comes out makes you a FANBOY, and what happens to fanboys? so is metal slug going 3d permanently? I.E. is this really Metal Slug 6 or a 3d spinoff like KOF: maximum impact? i want a hi-res 2d metal slug with new but classic art and animations!
  25. yes, it does indeed work, but i still can't do the button code for Chizuru in kof2k3. highlight Kyo, back, half circle upward and something like that. BTW, anybody think that the move input timing in Hyper SFII is tighter than all the other SFIIs? or are my skills ruined because of 3rd Strike and SF Alpha?
