I agree with Mr. G here. Hell, Doom III looks stunning in Medium Detail as well. Never turn on the player shadow. Other shadows are ok, and should be kept on. My advice to you is to keep all the special effects on and lowering the overall quality, you won't notice a big difference. And please, keep it civil. That goes for Mr. G too (although I know that you didn't insult on purpose)

I suggest that you don't use the tightest compression method for ISO and other CD image files, because it can (and in your case, did) have reverse effects. Besides, compressing with Best takes forever and the same with decompressing. I just use Normal or Good; mostly Normal.

My SRAM savs work perfectly, and I use 1.7.2 Check the directory options and check if the SRAM folder has been defined correctly. Also, check that the folder you use isn't read-only.
