  1. if you are going to upgrade now, you might as well go with a pci-express motherboard. Most of these are going to incorporate nvidias new SLI technology, which is also a plus for the long run. as for processor and ram, if you want this pc to last as long as your previous one has, then you might as well throw 2gb of ddr in it along with the 4000+ amd athlon 64. im pretty sure that only the fx chips and the 4000 still have the 1 meg cache.
  2. dont base your decision on the amount of ram the card has. when dealing with a bottom-of-the-line gaming card like a 9600, 128 vs 256 mb of ram is not going to make a big difference. most games dont even use 256mb of vram, with the exception of possibly doom3. the 9600xt is the better card, even with half the vram, because it is fully directx 9 compatible. if you shortchange yourself now on features that are quickly becoming important, you will be in this same situation a year from now when the games dont look or play as advertised.
  3. yes, by all means lets get MORE guns out there on the streets! i swear to god, people are so paranoid.
  4. wow, i dont see how i can resist, considering youve thrown in two of the best albums ever released
  5. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/06/30/news_6101684.html several other sites reporting they same story say it'll be released on july 23rd. thats next friday! finally, XX on my mame cabinet!
  6. on the main page at Tototek.com they have a snes flash cart. im thinking about getting one, but i wonder if anyone knows anything about them. im kinda wary of spending $80 for one if it wont do what i want it to do. i just want to play some translated roms on my snes hardware... any help or advice you guys can give me would be great.
  7. well, thats a good question. being that most people who are intrested in gamecube emulation, dont actually own one, i assumed you didnt either. on a personal note, i detest gamecube emulation, aswell as ps2, and xbox. infact, its not emulation, its theivery. thats why i advised you to buy one. now, the fact that you DO own one, and are still intrested in its emulation, is not much better. although, thats your prerogative. i for one love nintendo, and dont want to see it one day destroyed, due to such acts. i dont mean to flame you, thats just my reasoning for my previous statement. all emulation is technically stealing. you can't measure theft in degrees. im not. emulation was created for preservation purposes. what emulation "has become" during the past several years, is beside the point. here's an example of my logic... emulating old atari games that no one is presently making money off of, meaning the developers. GOOD! emulating newly released gamecube, ps2, xbox, arcade games etc, which developers are still making money from. BAD! what good is owning the rights to a title, if its just gonna sit there on a shelf collecting dust for a decade or two. that's why emulation was created, and that's the only reason why i am involved in it. youre not thinking the same way that a corporation thinks. corporations get the laws made, and when you get right down to it, thats where our "right and wrong" comes from. environmentalists want to preserve the earth so that future generations can enjoy it, yet the govt and corporations want to rape the land for everything its worth. when the hippies chain themselves to trees in the path of the bulldozers, who's going to get arrested? the people with nothing but everyones best interest in mind, or the people with the power and the cash? even i myself wear an eyepatch and a pegleg, but i dont try to convince myself that what im doing is "right".
  8. I guess they are saving major improvements like this for future releases. Bah, they were just being ignorant. im pretty sure that anyone with the knowledge required to make the only viable dreamcast emulator is far from ignorant. ^^ anyways, this is great news. is there any indication of when another update will be released?
  9. yeah, same problem here... and with the same game. i was using an.nrg (browser-based self-boot) of border down... crashes at the sega logo and corrupts the bios somehow. edit: does anyone know what versions of border down work with this emulator?
  10. good lord. <crosses fingers for full-screen emulation>
  11. had the sound off when i watched it... hmm... looks real fake without the sound.

  13. best game in a long long long loooooooooong time. *splurt*
  14. its Serious Sam with demons. wait, SS had demons... i guess its got that whole "gothic" thing going for it... i dont know what more i can say. as for other recent demos: far cry's controls and hit detection are extremely sloppy. doom3's alpha build made me cream my pants. hl2's alpha build made me laugh. ninja gaiden.... *splurt*
  15. violence, while i cant stand about half of that list (bright eyes and death cab, ugh), check out My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. its probably up your alley.
  16. it depends on whether or not you wanna pay taxes. id say go for the legit job, you'll have less chance of running into problems with the IRS.
  17. meh, people will only find somewhere else to slake their disgusting appetites. on the other hand, if mcdonalds continues to clean up their act, good for them. i suspect that their happy meals are a major reason for the youth waistline explosion here in the US. every time i see a mother feeding mcdonalds to a young child, i cry a little inside... that woman has no idea what she is doing.
  18. your list is broken. star wars: knights of the old republic was the best game of last year, hands down.
  19. i'd just like to register my disgust with the fact that lotr won 11 oscars and LiT only gets best screenplay. none of the three lotr films were better than lost in translation. period. i dont care what you think. the academy voters must have been stoners, because it seems that they were merely attracted to shiny production and special effects.
  20. hardcore techies like the folks at hardocp and penny arcade really irritate me sometimes. its like this "lifestyle" they call gaming is sacred, not to be marred by greed. boy, if i werent so lazy, id have news for them! i think the phantom is real, but i dont necessarily think it will end up being what they say. i'd imagine that there will never be a phantom console, but that they their anti-piracy techniques will be licensed. this guy is making a thinly veiled attempt to sell his ideas to the big console makers. i, for one, hope this doesnt happen... dude is talking about encapsulation of the components n crap, basically, covering them in glue. say goodbye to modchips.
  21. my bloody valentine - isnt anything slowdive - slowdive ep hum - downward is heavenward i heard some new a perfect circle song on the radio last night, anyone know if the new album is worthy of a "purchase"?
  22. ah, i love this. someone writes software using a piece of STOLEN software and suddenly they think they have some kind of rights to it. these people are lucky that MS doesnt bring the hammer down just for the fact that they are writing illegal code using their development kits. whats the deal? they want to 'respect' the developers of arcade games and not support recent games, and yet they wont even respect MS, the company who made all of this possible. twisted flocking logic i tells ya. these punks who spend their lives in front of a computer pounding out code for some reason have developed a retarded sense of self-importance. nuts to these fools. authors, stop working on the emulator if you want. make it harder to crack if you want. but either way stop crying about it because you have absolutely no right.
  23. well, i obviously suck at reading. post deleted.
