  1. It'll take years before PC hardware gets fast enough to emulate Atomiswave in a playable state.
  2. Damn. No more free roms.
  3. Mizuki from Samurai Spirits ][
  4. I got tons of work. Thankfully, I get to work from home. You're right though, those ppl who complain about being bored should really be thankful for even getting to be bored.
  5. The *best* anti-spyware known to mankind.
  6. Austin Powers
  7. KOF2K OST - Wild Party by ???
  8. Hate is a strong word. I'm not religious about my OS, it's not even alive. But I have to be realistic and weigh the pros and cons in my computing choices. Windows, for me is really Wintendo, a machine for game emulation and nothing more. All my "serious" stuff, I do on Linux.
  9. 1. Stable software does not contain bugs like buffer/heap overflows. XP had a bunch of them. One of which was exploited by worms like Blaster. The most recent one (http://www.eeye.com/html/Press/PR20040210.html) is a timebomb waiting to go off on an unpatched system. 2. All software contain bugs. The reason why Linux or opensource software appear to have more flaws is because the code is publically auditable, and hence any bugs are more frequently and quickly rectified. Patches have been known to appear hours after a flaw is discovered. Compare this with MS, with a poor track record in addressing their bugs. Take the above link for example, the vulnerability was actually discovered 6 months ago, but a patch was only made available in the last week. Go to CERT's web site and do a search for all vulnerabilities rated severe/critical or above, and count which ones are for Linux and which for Windows. I don't know about you, but I know which system I want to host my mission critical data on. 3. Linux was no longer a hackers' toy as far as 4 years ago. Together with the opensourced BSDs, they have overtaken the server market share from proprietary Unixes. Today, many organisations and governments are considering (or have already) giving the finger to Bill Gates and making the switch to opensource alternatives like Linux. 4. Most of the servers end PCs in my workplace are purchased < 3 yrs ago, and they are all running Linux. Hell, even our NT/XP Domain Controller is a Linux box running Samba.
  10. That's a qn you should ask the MS fanboys.
  11. Uhm....everything? Except NRX, that is.
  12. Why is everyone and their mum using window$?
  13. I'm ok with the whole command-line interface, but I dislike MAME because of the static game list which requires rebuilds to run new stuff. In general, I prefer a machine specific emulator like NRX as opposed to general purpose multi-system emulators like MAME. MAME also has the wrong design goals, IMO, as it favours emulation accuracy over performance. I mean, a game emu's meant to emulate games, not some scientific simulation for cripe's sake. NRX is a living proof of concept that you can still have a fairly good emulator at the expense of 100% accuracy. And it outperforms all the other Neo emus.
  14. Are your tracks from the soundtrack CD or did you rip them from the game ROMS?
  15. What's that? Do I need special software for that?
  16. Anyone knows where to download soundtracks for KOF2000? Couldn't find any on P2P or Google.
  17. to consmic lord: Hi, I have written a PHP script that does a permutation of all 720 possible combinations (I'l post this here if anybody wants). The main problem is, as you have mentioned, steps 6 and 7, particularly step 7. Step 7 requires that nebula or whatever emu be able to return error status to the environment/command shell. An alternative solution is to try to calculate the CRC within the script itself. Problem is I do not know this algorithm. If somebody who's reading this knows how the CRC value is calculated by nebula and is willing to explain the algo here, I might be able to implement this in the script.
  18. I don't quite get what http://kof2003.web1000.com/other.htm was trying to say. Does he mean to create the p1 by trying all possible combinations of reordering the 1MB chunks from the old p1 and p2, putting the last p2 chunk as the first? eg p2_3 + p1_1 + p1_2 +... + p2_2 = new_p1 . . p2_3 + p2_2 + p2_1 +.... p1_1 = new p1 Does this work out to 720 combinations? I think it would be better if we split this combination into something like groups of 5 combinations each and everyone chooses a group and reports his success so we can narrow down the number of incorrect combinations. Just a suggestion.
  19. Do those p1 restructuring instructions from http://kof2003.web1000.com/other.htm allow the ROM to also work on NRX?
