  1. I can't resist..........I can't! Who in the hell STILL doesn't know what a RAR file is these days? Down with AOL and the uneducated ignorant of Google who shouldn't be on teh intarweb!
  2. No matter what distro you go with, theres always the possibility you may have a piece of hardware that isn't properly supported out of the box. Mandrake 8, I had to build my own kernel module for my video card in order to use X because none of the provided modules worked right..........I hadn't the slightest f'ing clue how to do that, but after a couple days (Yeah I know days sounds disturbing) I managed to build my module properly from driver source. Don't ever get frustrated and give up, it's a learning experience that you'll be proud of when you do get it. I know I was jumping up and down when I finally got KDE fired up and installed Quake 3 and it all went off without a hitch. Dual booting Windows REALLY comes in handy here for 2 reasons. #1 You can hop online and find the info you need to learn #2 You can hop on Windows and say "F*** it!" for a little while and then go back to it later.

  4. I think Mandrake (Mandriva now FTW) is a good middle ground. Gentoo is too much of a pain in the @ss for the average user, technically versed or not.
  5. I'd use it for a paperweight. If it ain't self built, it sucks.......period. Alienware et al is no exception to this rule.
  6. Google biatch!
  7. The CCD collects luminance "data" which forms your picture. If it's sitting directly behind the lens, kinda looks like a chip with a filament on it that resembles a solar pad.......it's a CCD.
  8. Change your security settings to not allow Active X controls to be run without permission on ANY site. Allow the first one for checking/installing the control, disallow the second (Which leads to the actual check)and you're home free.
  9. Given that the CCD is probably one of (if not THE) most expensive components in a camera, I'd say just buy a new one. I didn't know CCDs were still used, I thought pretty much everything had gone APS using CMOS sensor these days. You'll also be hard pressed to find a replacement part like that unless you contact Vivitar themselves. It isn't deemed a "user serviceable part".
  10. Snuck up all 007 on that sh!t and smoked it!
  11. Chuck Norris sucks, him and Steven Seagal should get married and have little ninja wannabe babies.
  12. PS2 screenies look horrible! Ditch work on the PS2 port and throw those team members on one or more of the other teams. Christ the PSP version almost looks better than the PS2 version. I'd say 90% of the poly count on the PS2 version is in her tits. Look how smooth and round they are, yet EVERYTHING else is jagged.........sheesh.
  13. I'm at a crossroads here..... I expected to come lock an indecent thread, instead I'm presented with another possibility. Can I lock this thread for false advertisement?
  14. Maybe I can incite some attention towards my favourite SNES RPG, a somewhat rarer one at that too. Tecmo's Secret of The Stars. Pure unadulterated fun, two "teams" to play and you get your own town, woot! Try it, if you don't find it fun......you suck!
  15. Hey hey hey! Atari 2600 and E.T. pwnz joo!
  16. Oh yeah forgot to answer the question lol Super Metroid....110% #1.
  17. And this is in The Lounge why? Moved
  18. Microsoft.........release candidate? Those two don't go together, this does. Microsoft : Hurry! This needs to ship yesterday! Screw the bugs we'll patch them sooner or later......or not.
  19. I'm so tired of the linear shooter genre........GIVE ME FREESTYLE! I want to be able to use my lightgun and move in whatever direction I like! (Don't tell me it's not possible, lightguns have d-pads and could, maybe do, have analog sticks.......other methods could be employed like thumb discs)
  20. Psst it's a 2nd release internal beta. If theres going to be a huge difference between this and the final release (Which isn't far off so we've been told) then this beta has one hell of a memory leak issue. You might want to note that Microsoft is the reason 1GB of ram right now is the norm for the average user. You think you "need" that in other operating systems to accomplish the same tasks? Hell no. I believe it's very true to what we'll see in a final. Too much eye candy, coupled with too much bloatware (Look at the TM! Theres 37 processes running and ALL of them belong to the OS....and it's IDLING!) and poor programming. We all know MS hires MIT dropouts.........
  21. You have my support in simply talking about it and notifying users of releases, but just like the rules state.......no files or linking to them, or telling people where to locate them. Like they do on XS, you can find such and such "at the usual places".
  22. Yeah, I guess I simply jumped the gun on my reply here. When you look at it from a technical standpoint, it's quite amazing, but it's functionally useless (24 seperate screens......it's like looking through a multi-pane window) and far from cost effective.
  23. I wrote it, it say's "I came here 2006" hehehe
  24. Overkill.........more like useless. I'm betting the cost of those 24 monitors is more than a nice bigscreen of like half the size. Who the hell wants to look at the lines created by all those screens? It would irritate the hell out of me, I'd rather have just one of those monitors.
  25. My XP installation is only 1.3GB, I don't know how you could possibly have one over 3GB. Mine is including probably a couple hundred MB of stuff in system folders thats been added by aftermarket software and such.
