Shibathedog Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Either there is something wrong with your 360 (I had a loud one and the disc drive blew up) or you spent a shit ton of money on fans/etc. to get your PC that quiet. My video card alone is louder than a 360. Although it is definitely the loudest thing in my computer. Here is the latest PS3 graphics BS scandal http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/31/ghostbus...p-but-no-cigar/
Agozer Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Yeah, I read about tis a few days ago, and that's just plain stupid. This should have been done before the game was released. Oh so now that consoles have Internet connection and all kinds of hoo-hah it's ok to start putting out inferior products and then just release patches like they've done for ages in the PC front? As a last-generation console gamer, seeing stuff like this is inexcusable.

My video card alone is louder than a 360. Although it is definitely the loudest thing in my computer. I admit I spent quite a bit on cooling for both systems. I went with Zalman's top the line CPU coolers on both, used only 120mm case fans on the lowest setting and went with graphics cards that used a low-noise Zalman GPU cooler.
emsley Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Killzone 2 is the only reason I want a Ps3 I want it to kick me in the balls as hard as it can.
Shibathedog Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 My computer should be near silent when the video card is low but I can't be bothered to replace the noisy case fans that came with the case. They already work so meh. It is much quieter than my last PC. The video card rarely goes up real high, plus I dunno I usually play with the volume louder than the fans so I don't hear it either way. It doesn't have to be very loud to be louder than the fans. I say the same thing for the 360. Agozer: That is true, It happens all the time on both platforms. They release a buggy unfinished game and then patch it later. Very annoying. They are even doing it on PC now. (hell some games still aren't completely fixed) I also hate how you have to jump through hoops to get demos now sometimes (which they call Betas so you feel all special) and what should be regular game patches are referred to as downloadable content (some of it should be called DLC, but a lot of it should just come in a patch).
Inky Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 noisy consoles don't bother me. hell the dreamcast sounded like a jet engine compared to the 360. I've got 'rock n' roll' ear anyways, I can't hear low stuff anymore.
Shibathedog Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 lol yeah I was debating mentioning that, The Dreamcast is still way louder, so if that didn't bother you neither will the 360.
Gryph Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 If the 360 is less loud than the Dreamcast then it's all good.
L.S.D Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Err, DC is loud?!? I never notice! PS2 is not very quiet, if i remember correctly Using noise as an excuse in choosing a console is really lame. You are not going to hear any noise when you are playing games with surround full blast and all the actions around.
LoRd_SnOw Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 (edited) I remember popping those Blue Ps2 CD's into the Playstation 2, man those were loud.. about as loud as the 360. Also, the Phat Ps3 get's pretty loud when you run games that push it like killzone 2, Call of duty 4 & Waw, uncharted or folding@home(not sure of the new name that they call it now). Since I lack the ability to being a dedicated live customer, i buy all of my multiplatform games on the ps3 and all the exclusive falo and hable, porza and fgr stuff for 360. Cominus Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 What are you guys talking about loudness? If you arnt playing with a large flat screen and surround sound you shouldnt be playing current console gaming.
Shibathedog Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 The Dreamcast is loud as hell. It sounds like its grinding or something. Whenever its loading you hear this EEEEEHHH EEEEEHHH EEEHHH EEEHHHH EEEHHH EEEHHH If you want to see it at it's loudest put a blank CD-R in and see what happens when it goes to full speed. It sounds like it's about to explode. My PS2 is pretty loud, I can't hear the disk spinning but I can hear the head going back and forth because it's really high pitched. If you want to see the PS3 get super loud, turn off the power switch on the back. Now hold Eject down as you turn it back on. After it's done you will have to flip it off and back on again to be able to boot it up because it locks itself down after this (The red light will be blinking). I think this only works on certain PS3s but try it out, I know it works on the 40GB. I would assume it at least works with other consoles from around the same time.
ken_cinder Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Yeah the noise of the Dreamcast is the GDROM, sounds like a friggin jet engine lighting up full bore for takeoff.
VT-Vincent Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Yeah the noise of the Dreamcast is the GDROM, sounds like a friggin jet engine lighting up full bore for takeoff. I remember when I used to play Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast, I knew when a random battle was coming from the incredibly loud spin-up and seek noise coming from the drive.
