Bob Jahovic Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I just got Doom 3 for Xbox. It is such an awsome game! The graphics aren't as good as on the PC, but everything else is the same. Super Turbo Turkey Pucher 3 is the best minigame in any game. I got the Collector's Edition which contains interviews with John Carmack and the other ID people. It also contains the Ultimate Doom and Doom II This is one of the best FPS that I have played on the Xbox or anyother console.
Mag Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 btw.. what score did you get on playing STTP3 ? =D btw.. try get a score of 250,000 (I think it's 250k).. anyway.. once you achieve that score, you uncover an easter egg
Gryph Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Have you played Co-op yet? I hear that's pretty fun though I don't think I'd be interested in it. But the only reason I would want that is for the interviews.
Smilee Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I'm gonna get it this friday. Does the collectors edition cost more than the regular version or is it the same price?
Gryph Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I'm gonna get it this friday. Does the collectors edition cost more than the regular version or is it the same price?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I think it's like $5-10 more than the regular, like Halo 2 CE was. Also, how long are the interviews?
Prican25 Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 its a decent port for xbox's sake and i know plenty of ppl are happy to have this especially to those who have an older pc that can't handle the pc version of doom 3. only downside is dealing with the classic doom ports that it doesn't fill the screen and is at low res but at least for the classics they included co-op and multiplayer split-screen. for the classic's sake, i'd rather use the doom-x homebrew since it allows more to be done mod wise and such plus looks a lot better then the ports done by activision/id even tho it doesn't offer the co-op and split-screen multiplayer.
Skythe Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 It's on Xbox so of course the controls suck complete ass.

Also, how long are the interviews?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>The individual interviews are about 1-2 minutes long, but the disc also includes the entire G4 special. I know that G4 sucks, but John Carmack and the rest of the owners pretty much tell the story. It's on Xbox so of course the controls suck complete ass.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> The controls aren't that bad, as far as console FPS go. The D-Pad functions as a quick-select for 4 weapons. The D-Pad is customizable, so you don't have to cycle through your weapons everytime that you want the BFG. Oh yeah... the chainsaw absolutley owns.
Gryph Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 1-2 minute long interviews? flock that. And yes, the chainsaw owns. Old school mayhem.
Bob Jahovic Posted April 7, 2005 Author Posted April 7, 2005 Yeah, I wouldn't buy for the interviews. In the G4 thing, they talk about how they changed the monsters and some of the weapons. They talk about the enhanced graphics most of the time. As far as G4 goes though, it is one of their better programs
Shibathedog Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I was playing this game at Bob's house, and i was really suprised at how good of a port it was, i mean, its a REALLY good port! I was in teh store on the release date about to buy it, but i decided to save money for PSP So my wishlist goes... PSPDoom 3 CENew Video CardSplinter Cell Chaos Theory (Also very kickass, if you didnt like the first ones, i understand why, and this one you WILL like)
Inky Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I'll prolly "aquire" this one soon. every time I go to gamestop the clerks are like "wanna preorder doom3?" I just wanna say "if I did, don't you think I would have already?" the only thing I've ever preordered in my life was the dreamcast and the original snes street fighter 2.
Bluestinger X Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 yeah i was a bit surprised... they ported it very well. I kept having this gut feeling doom3 on xbox was gona blow but I was completely wrong. They did change some stuff though... like remeber in the starting of the pc version where u walk across the bridge on the mars surface. Yeah like the part that lasted 30 seconds lol... that isnt in the xbox version. I also noticed other small changes but it dosnt take away from the game or anything.. actully makes some parts of the game feel new. Not sure why though lol.
