Official: Half Life 2 Thread

Hehe, this game doesn't work like all the others. You basically have to play it through Steam (or if you have a crack, you can bypass it, don't ask where to get it) since that's how it's setup. Making an ISO out of the CD won't work in this case. And yes, the load times are a bit longer than I would have hoped for (mine weren't too long) and it's something a lot of people are seeing.

I second that. And also the ultimate satisfaction of watching the zombies burning, while they shriek their heads off, literally I never get tired of this game

Well, it's somewhat official, the surprise Valve has for us is HL2: Deathmatch! This is "confirmed" by a news update on Steampowered.com. I won't link the concept picture since I don't want to leech. This is most probably true but it could be another form of multiplayer...

 

But here is more proof in the form of three pictures that I got from the 3DR forums (apparantly there is some code that unlocks this in HL2):

 

 

I am definitely exicted about this since deathmatch > Counter-Strike:Source

wow.... i just downlaoded it and guess what... halfife 2 wont run anymore . lol... i just checked some other forums and turns out a hell lot of people are having the same issues i am. damnit i just got it yesterday can i atleast finish the single player before valve goes and breaks it.

hey blue, try this:

 

go to start, run , and type in steam://validate/320 let it validate ur files and see what happens...im doin so right now...

yes i feel u. even though patience is a virtue, we bought the damn game. i can understand a little if the mod doesnt work, but the game we actually bought doesnt even work. its like, steam is taking all of our products away. this is retarded....

 

ok, 5mins later...

 

it works i guess? im guessin the great server of steam....was jammed packed or sumthin. i still stand corrected though, that was a retarded problem....

Well, you can use Steam if Offline mode, but Steam needs to be running.

 

The deathmatch addon should be interesting, i just wonder why is it that so many people have problems with it....So you're saying that HL2 won't even start after deathmatch has been installed?
