Nero 6 also thinks its a 6X burner

Okay so i upgraded my drive to 1.03 firmware, but why is Alcohol 120% saying my fastest Burn speed is 6.1X? Isnt it supposed to be 16X? I tried it with no disc in, and all i have is 1X and 6.1X as choices, when i put a Disc in, i get an extra option of 2.4X Should i get one of these firmwares http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/3540/ the "Fast" version? I Know RPC1 is basically region free, with software, but wtf is Fast and Slow? Are they just the orginal firmware with Riplock removed? what the heck? lol im really confused Why cant i burn at 16X!??!

I would reccomend Mandrake Linux if you want user friendly, But I REALLY want to try SuSe which i heard is also user friendly and alot better. SuSe Pro 10 comes out in 3 days. (correct me if im wrong, its around there though) and the Pro version is going to be free now Im going to install SuSe Pro 10 on an external USB HDD so i can boot it anywhere!

Alcohol 120% is one of my favorite burning programs ever, in fact it IS my favorite burning program, (Unless i want to create a CD, because you cant, they really need to add that ) The only thing is with the pretty much 100% error-proof burning, it limits your burn speed soooooo much...It would limit my 48X CD burner down to like 16X While burning CDs, and it limits my 16X DVD burner to 2.5X while burning DVDs. Thats why sometimes i just use DiscJuggler, which is also one of my favorites, but i dont like to reccomend it to most people because its complicating and its GUI can be really intimidating

i have a HUGE library of DivX movies, because i could never afford a DVD burner. But now that i have one i was thinking of converting them all, but screw that. Im not even going to convert the PAL DVD to NTSC DVD, ill just wait for NTSC releases, its too much work, they already take like 4-6 hours to download because of peoples crappy torrents

Ive been thinking about it, i really have. But there still just arent that many GBA games i like, and for 30 dollars more i can get an ugly ass DS. I think I still want a PSP, ESPECIALLY with that Katamari game coming out.

Okay so i always hear about how playing DVDs in your PS2 will wear out your drive (maybe thats why my old one died, although i think i only watched about 5 movies in it total) but will it do the same to my Xbox? Im going to be playing mostly burned media (because i dont feel like arguing with my brother for his DVD player that plays it, and mine died for some reason, no video out) I have the 1.5 Xbox with the Samsung drive. Right now im using DVD+Rs but ill be using DVD-Rs in the future after these run out. Im going to be using it to watch pretty much all my movies now, so is it safe?

holy crap, this is going to take forever, im just going to wait for an NTSC release. Theres no way i can sit around and wait for all that converting.

okay that doesnt seem to work, and neither does DVD rebuilder EDIT: Right now I have a DVD IMG file, thats Region one, with video in PAL format, im trying to convert it to a DVD thats region 1, with NTSC format. Im not trying to use DivX at all right now. I have a ton of stuff that works for that. So your saying i should re-encode the DVD into an MPEG 2 file with no compression, and then have easy media creator burn that file as a DVD?

hmmm, i found something called BlazeMP, will that work? most of the stuff ive been finding doesnt burn it as a DVD format disc anymore once i convert

okay because i burned a DVD IMG file, and on my PS2 its black, my old panasonic DVD player it wont read the disc (its a +R) and my crappy ass Sanyo has the rolling image thing going on. I'll check Doom9 for something, I hope this isnt something that is going to take hours

awww man that sucks. It sounds like alot of people are having problems right now, Well, K'dash and everyone else, i really hope everyone ends up okay. I couldnt even imagine what i would do if this was happening to me. Best of luck to you all.

okay one more question, If i download a PAL DVD, as long as I patch it for Region 1, it will still play on my DVD player right? Im going to be playing most of these in a PS2. Its not going to scramble the picture like when i play PAL games on my PSX on my NTSC TV is it?

okay, I already got DVD Decryptor and DVD shrink just in case (there might be movies i really dont feel like wasting a DL on because the special features blow)

I also read Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 is good too so im getting that.

yeah its Dual Layer, i dont have any Dual Layer DVDs right now but thats okay because i just want to convert my DivX movies right now.

Yay my DVD burner came! Okay so I think ill use Alcohol 120% to copy DVDs What should i use for burning DivX files as DVD format? Also i want to burn this movie that has a subtitles file, can i burn that on the DVD too so it shows up on the screen? I was thinking getting Nero 6, would that work?
