Another reason why region coding is stupid, and the PAL/NTSC system is stupid Actually, I dont even mind the fact that its PAL, If we used PAL, i wouldnt mind, theres nothing wrong with PAL, its the fact that they are the only ones who use PAL, and then they have NTSC/J, which, yeah is usually the same, but not always, EVERYONE SHOULD USE THE SAME STANDARD!!! While its true, that with HDTV, Everyone will be using pretty much the same standard, so things are heading in the right direction, its going to take time. in the mean time they should adopt NTSC so its the same as everywhere else, because it would be harder for everyone else to adopt PAL

probably because WTF other PS2 games are online? There really arent that many (unless you count the MMORPGs, and ones that i already own for Xbox that i play on Live) I think i can only think of a handful of PS2 exclusive online games Killzone doesnt have it i guess which is sweet

yeah, but its not going to sound as good as a real stereo. Its definitley easier to go surround sound on a PC than a home theatre system though. You can get surround sound cards that sound amazing for like 50 bucks, and speakers for like 300-500 (actually you probably could for like 200 but meh) With a home theatre system it would be like 500 for a really good amp at LEAST, and can be like tons of money per speaker if your buying something really good, like 500+, even if you went with something moderate all the speakers would be like 500 together. I remember even when i upgraded my sound card from whatever it came with just to some 30 dollar card the difference was amazing

Thats not necesarily true, plus if you notice with surround sound its a bunch of tiny speakers instead of 2 more powerful ones. Its just not going to sound as good, it does what its supposed to do very well, but that doesnt include accurate sounding music, especially if you want loud. And whatever you do dont go Bose, Bose is poop, being surrounded in like 35 tweeters with a fancy EQ effect applied to the amp to make them sound like big speakers is just dumb I dont even like the idea of a subwoofer too much, two 3-way floorstanding speakers and a decent amp should be all you need. But ive heard some decent stereo setups that use them. I think a really good stereo setup, that would blow most setups out of the water is a pair of Klipsche KF-7 floorstanding speakers, a Denon DRA-685 Amplifier, and of course, wire it up with monster cable , as for a CD Player, Denon also offers some high quality products there. of course if you want REALLY good sounding stuff, you gotta buy a Pre-amp, Poweramp, and EQ instead of just an all in one receiver, and if your goin to do that you can probably do better than KF-7s too (although they are VERY nice speakers)

yeah i heard it was pretty stupid you can tell if you have the early version because the newer ones say Second Edition on the bottom

Joystiq is awesome I would suggest making a google account for a custom homepage, setting it as your homepage (duh), and adding Joystiq, Gaming Engadget, and Hackaday RSS feeds to it at LEAST keeps me informed

Listening to music in surround sound is silly, music doesnt sound that way, you dont go to a concert or listen to any band live and hear crap coming from behind you Surround sound=Movies/Games, its an EFFECT Stereo/Mono=Music, Its supposed to reproduce music ACCURATELY the way its supposed to sound in real life The entire point of Hi-Fi systems is to get it to sound more and more liek the real thing, like you where listening live, anything else is an effect and isnt accurate, sure it might sound cool, but its not how music sounds

If my friend burns me Socom 3, and i boot it using a swap disc, and just use the free play mode (no credit card verification) or play any online games for that matter that are burned, can they tell? Are they going to ban my PS2/Network adapter?

yeah, i got myself really into mobile video for awhile, but then i realized it was costing me more than upgrading my home theatre system, and the screens are....tiny Watching movies on my PDA was cool for boring classes though My friend got a lyra, it wasnt bad, its made my RCA, so its not the best, but it wasnt bad. I agree with PSPs and PDAs being the best for mobile video, easy as heck to support more formats, but memory for them is expensive as hell, and im not gonna go out and buy UMD movies. Those prices where probably horrible because amazon doesnt like to sell apple products for cheap for some reason, i buy alot from them though i like them. If your ever looking for saturn/Dreancast/Sega CD games look there i have a gift card for best buy and some cash, so im pretty much stuck to what best buy has, and im probably going to try and get more memory for my dollar

It sounds like your drive is having trouble reading those discs, i forget the techinical term but they might be "weakly-burned" although usually DVD-Burners are pretty good about that

yeah that, and they are VERY overpriced, Dont perform as well as peopel say they do, dont sound very good, and they have all these stupid annoying things about them and i dont understand why peopel put up with them theres something degrading about knowing my MP3 player can plug into robot dogs that will dance around to entertain me
