  1. Unfortunately cannot link to xbe here, however it seems ok to link to an archive containing a patch (should contain some basic intructions, eg exactly which original file should the patch be applied to - mameox 84b3 or 84b3lightgun - also can contain a.bat file to automate patching) here is one such program - Patcher
  2. It seems to be FBAxxx has the superior interface, features. however it occured to me kawax has smoothness, speed. this is what it felt to me.
  3. It sounds almost embarrasing to post it on xbins, sammaz How about this little gem Patcher C:\Patcher>patcher Patcher v1.2, written by David Finch <david@mytsoftware.com>. Alternative to IPS, supporting files up to 2gb. Open source freeware released under the GNU General Public License. Usage: patcher command source.ext dest.ext patch.ext Command may be either Create, CreateRLE, or Apply. CreateRLE produces smaller patches when dealing with certain files. Source and destination files may be different sizes. For backward compatibility, this tool can also apply IPS patches.
  4. My Favourite PPF program - PPFGUI/PPFWIN straight from the doggies Paradox PPF Hope it helps!
  5. To get around the 16MB limit of IPS, try a different patching program / system, such as PPF (Playstation Patch File). Just wondering also, I have not come across such a 16MB limit of IPS - ie coz isnt it also used for N64 roms? Or am I mistaken?
  6. I have it also, beta 0.16 + patch , but it seems i cannot get around the serial either, anybody have info to get past it ?
  7. I have a thompson and mine just plain crap. Example - thrown in a brand new disc today, completely - brand new, literally took the wrapper off and into the tray, It didnt work, reading errors... It also did exactly the same behaviour several months after I bought the unit brand new with another brand new disc. No wonder why I leech warez, thanks M$!!!.
  8. Doesnt running a good modchip bios fix this kind of problems also? Or have they developed a new type of media check?
  9. Dunno about actual arcade machines, but from the Commodore Amiga you have - Slam Tilt, Pinball Illusions, Pinball Fantasies. Slam Tilt was the most recent and my favourite, its brilliant.
  10. Do you have ePSXe that runs on xboxen?
  11. Doesnt matter if just 1 game works, the vast majority of downloaded cds will have the disc protection removed, this makes it so that you can copy the cd with any old basic burning program. The drawback of this is obvious, it is not the original anymore and needs also a cracked executable that does not search for the protection on the disc. This also shows when you want to update the game, you need the latest cracked executable aswell. If you have a perfect 1:1 copy of the original, only then can it be recognised as an original.
  12. The burnt cd is not the original cd, thats why u need the nocd. Even with the burnt cd in, this does not usually qualify and the request for the original cd will come up.
  13. 4Gb file limit - fat32 2Gb file limit - fat16 Microsoft File System Comparison Its actually 4gb minus 2 bytes for fat32 and 2gb minus 1 byte for fat16 To upgrade - C:\>convert /? Converts FAT volumes to NTFS. CONVERT volume /FS:NTFS [/V] [/CvtArea:filename] [/NoSecurity] [/X] volume Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon), mount point, or volume name. /FS:NTFS Specifies that the volume is to be converted to NTFS. eg. convert d: /fs:ntfs
  14. Doesnt sound normal.. which game? I must admit not having much experience with winfellow in my memory, tried winuae with the same game? Amiga Forever!
  15. Yes the xbox is very easy to solder - nice big points. As with PSX modding, I would make sure the contact is clean first (just scrape/scratch it slightly to make sure you remove any protective coatings - solder doesnt stick very well to that stuff). Then coat the ends of the wires and points with solder before trying to join them (a tiny amount of flux will do the trick). Try to use as short as possible wires, and make them of similar length. Also cut the exposed ends of the wires short, they wont need any length poking out. Now simply bring the coated (tinned) wire and point together and heat then presto! a lovelly join. Make sure when routing wires around inside the xbox, you dont squash them in between bits or sharp metal! (may expose the wire!). Once the solder is cool, test the join by tugging very lightly on the wire Take some care, don't use excessive heat or you may lift the points/tracks from the board! it does not take much heat to solder these things, use a fine tip and a low wattage iron, and you will NJoY!
  16. Remember share reactor? It wasnt in the US, it didnt host warez or links... just semi-indirect hash values... effective enough. Site lasted along time, though, its gone now, I read he got into some trouble...
  17. Yea, to find the version, its to do with the serial number on the sticker on the bottom of the xbox, also when and where (what country) it was manufactured. There should be a web page findable from google about this - I remember seeing it when I was looking up info before buying my mod chip.
  18. Buy an Xbox then put 160gb hdd in it, then fill it full of games, then use you pc for serious, propper work...and in time you will upgrade you pc and enjoy it too.. but for god sake, get an xbox... **Drunk!** !
  19. I am of the same belief that since the crc information exists, then so does the file.
  20. I found that the amount of vid ram or system ram isnt as important as the GPU on the vid card itself. Fast CPU is great but avoid budget GPU like the plague.
  21. Gotta love Seagate, fast and silent. I bought one - 2mb cache, 160GB capacity, and it was only $170 aud. so very cheap too.. ! I still have a working 200mb Seagate so they reliability should be good.. Dont mind the Quantums or WD. Have 10GB and 17GB in a pc, and 4GB and 6GB in others From my experience I dont like Maxtor (loud, slow), IBM (not reliable), or Fujitsu (not reliable) In any event, let the poor things get enough airflow...
  22. I too am in Australia and never saw the war.. but Amiga kicked serious ballz!! Even over macintoss!! I just got atari ST - saved it from the dump... im sure it cant compare... maybe midi but hey, that was cheap add on to Amiga... I knew bands that used Amiga2000 w/midi.... A1000,3 A500,2 A2000,A3000,A4000 - all upgraded or expanded somehow A nice collection =) (of expensive paperweights and doorstops) heheh Never Forget!
  23. You are also correct, and there are many factors which influence a system or a games success or failure. Its just a personal thing for me, I like it looking pretty. Also true I held onto my C= 64 and then the C= Amiga for years after PC was selling.. since I felt it looked better GFX (Amiga multitasking was also much better and C=64 sound also was far better) however in the end the protected mode of the X86 processor has to win hands down once the thing was fast and cheap enuff also good sound and gfx cards was cheap and widespread. Try to run a pc game with a crud gfx card.. they dont work too well Games arnt all about gfx, but it seems like systems manufacturers and games developers keeps making better and better gfx....since about the time it all began...
  24. ummm, Im no ps2 fan due to its crud gfx, but this must be clarified CPU speed: xbox - 733 MHz ps2 - 294.912 MHz ps2 uses a 128bit RISC cpu, so maybe you can multiply this 300 number by 4 to get roughly 1+ GHZ to compare to Intel 32 bit cpu xbox uses a simple Intel 32 bit cpu so in fact look this xbox - 733 MHz ps2 - over 1 GHz ps2 cpu looks better now , however this does not save the machine in my opinion because its never been speed which makes games looks better, its the gfx system peace
