  1. Not to start a flame war, but you *are* aware there are more than 2 political parties in this country, right? Just food for thought...
  2. Try this: http://users.pandora.be/jbosman/applications.html
  3. Over 100,000 dead in Iraq and the media zeros in on a guy who killed his wife and child? Genocide in Sudan is just a blip on the radar? WTF is wrong with this world...
  4. You might want to change your subject header from USA to "North Amercia". This applies to (much of, all?) Canada as well. =) But thanks for the reminder!
  5. I'm still on the fence about an Xbox purchase, but I've asked the same question in the past. You'll need to chip your system. Probably need a new dashboard too. http://www.xboxscene.net/ was recommended to me some time agao--maybe it will help you.
  6. Thanks Agozer! I gave the OpenGL drivers another shot (bad luck in the past) and seeing as you said it worked for you, I dug a little deeper and discovered that vsync had been disabled on the OpenGL side in my ATI drivers. That fixed it--thanks!!
  7. flickering - tearing - I'm not sure how to describe it. I've had trouble with other emulators in the past, but they all had a "triple buffering" or "vsync" option that cured it (I'm playing them through my Radeon 9800's tv-out) I've searched the net and found other's wishing for this feature. One of the drivers has "vsync" but I still get tearing. Limiting the fps to 60 still gives me tearing. Any ideas? Another PSX emulator that doesn't exhibit this trait? It's especially bad in 2d scrolling games. I can't be the only one this bothers, can I? Thanks!
  8. Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. Many people confuse fascism and communism--or use the terms interchangeably. I thought that might have been the case...
  9. Communist? Not likely. Fascist? Moreso every day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism
  10. Come on now--I can't be the ONLY un-american commie pinko can I?! It's funny, I could have predicted that LordKanti, Skythe, and SQrL would score F**cking Amercian! Not that this quiz is all that accurate, but I knew they wouldn't score on the Liberal side! Ahhh, the politics of emulation!
  11. "sometimes I worry about Matt and Trey's political beliefs." Worry? Why? Anyhow, no surprise here: I'm also a "left wingin` canadian socialist"! Try to beat THAT!!! It's funny--except for the Al Franken bit, they hit the nail on the head...
  12. Shadow of the Beast on Turbo Duo Target Earth for Genesis Target Earth is so damned hard I can't get past the 3rd stage (without cheating). There's many a time I die in the first stage. Check it out!
  13. I noticed the grinding first with CDR games (think Soul Calibur). Then when I bought the real games, they still made a grinding noise, though perhaps not as much. Both my dreamcasts grind--both manufactured in Japan... [edit] grammar
  14. I thought this was later debunked by photos the pentagon released showing (limited) wreckage? Interesting though...
  15. For comparison, easynews has 19 days worth of xbox retention right now. That would be about August 14th. Quite the difference!
  16. Maybe someone with the ability to start polls should start one regarding which news servers people use. I'm very interested too. I use easynews and the retention is great as well. $10(US) for 10 gigs. You can earn more too.
  17. Thanks for saving me the trouble of all that research! I appreciate it! =)
  18. Thanks for the quick reply! I'll look into which chip is best--thanks!
  19. Three things First - thanks so much for making these discs! I can't wait to play them! Second - I don't actually have an Xbox yet and I want to be ready to use BAED when I do. Is it required to "mod" the Xbox to play these discs? The.nfo doesn't say... I lent one to my friend (who HAS an Xbox) and it just came up "disc unrecognized". I'm assuming it needs to be modded? Third - which news servers are people using where they're missing 9-14 files at a time? I use easynews and I've never had these problems...
  20. I'll admit I skimmed most of this thread. I've seen it all before... Something I hadn't seen though, was this article at the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/22/magazine/22IDEA.html Describes why people on the left and right can't fathom why the other thinks the way they do. Interesting hypothosis regarding brain activity. Liberals tend to have more activity in a particular part of the brain--the part responsible for empathy and fear. A wise friend of mine with an admirable amount of life experience broke it down for me like this. "There are really only two types of people in this world. People who want to make the world a better place, and the f*ck you crowd." The longer I live on this earth, I think he's right.
  21. That's one of the few good things that are in Norway. wait, what other good things are there? They're consistently ranked as the best country to live in--worldwide. Cradle to grave health care and free university for starters. Very long life expectancies. Very high standard of living. Lots of unspoiled wilderness if you're into that. Norway is pretty laid back. I've only been there very briefly, but it's where my family is originally from. It's actually quite nice! (sorry, just felt the need to come to the defence of my grandfather's homeland!)
  22. Thanks for RARing them all up! I have a few questions for you... I don't actually own an Xbox yet, but I wanted to make this disc beforehand. I noticed in the various.ini files they point to D: and E: drive. Is the D: the Xbox DVD-ROM and E: the hard drive? As long as I create directories (as indicated in the.ini's) and fill them with ROMs, the emulators will see them? Or do I have the drive letters switched? Is there somewhere that provides a good tutorial? The craxtion forums still don't have tutorials posted. =( Do I add each emulator folder as a 'folder'? and then create the ISO? Is it that simple or am I way off base... thanks for any (further) help you can provide!
  23. Just picked up a gamecube for $39.99 Canadian, brand new. You can trade in "any" 5 PS2, Xbox or Gamecube games, and pick up a Gamecube system for $39.99. The only catch is that you can't trade in sports titles older than 2003, and no "zero credit" games (like Oni--or a few others they won't trade for). I didn't have 5 games I wanted to part with so I just bought 4 games at $7-$10 a piece, and then immediatley traded them back in with 1 of my own. Total cost to me: under $80 Canadian. Sweet sweet deal. Now I just need to track down a cheap Zelda... spread the word!
  24. Metal Gear Solid 2 Devil May Cry Final Fantasy X Ico SSX3 (I haven't yet played Onimusha 3, but judging by my friend's impression it will probably bump SSX3).
  25. Sounds great! Thanks again for making this so user friendly!
