  1. "Big Ass Emulation Disc". A compilation of various emulators (and TONS of ROMS) for Xbox. There's a thread about it here: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php...ic=7466&hl=baed
  2. Sure, I can do that. Good idea, and it's really not much work for me, either. Also easy. Should be no problem. Super! Could you give us a heads up when/where you upload a "ROM-less" version with all the working emulators? I'm looking forward to such an interface. Thanks for all the work! EDIT: You're right about the number of games you can fit on a DVD. I've paired down all the roms I want to use (anywhere from 20 to 60 per platform) and that only fills 2.8 gig!
  3. thanks for all the suggestions! I'll give them a try...
  4. Was going to edit my last post, but might as well post a new one. After reading some of the other threads it appears you plan on releasing discs beyond #1 and #2. GREAT! Piggy-backing on my last post, would you consider doing an interface for all the emulators out there, and leaving the ROM insertion up to the user? I think that way you could have a greater number of systems on one disc. If you're like me, you've probably found the novelty of having complete goodsets fades with time and you end up playing the same 10-20 games per platform. No sense in having 1000+ games you never play. Could you make a "best of" compilation for the different platforms? No one is going to agree on which games are "the best", so leaving it up to user discretion might be good... Just a thought. Please don't view this as whinning. If it's something that interests you, great! If not, ce la vie!
  5. HA! Nice! Trust me though--take out the paper artwork first--it can stain...
  6. I've started buying games from EB, but they all have a billion price tag/stickers on them. They're the kind that leave behind that sticky goo. What do you guys/gals use to get rid of it, or do you just leave the discounted price tags all over your cases? I tried dish soap, but that just smeared the goo around making a bigger mess...
  7. I just bought my second dreamcast. What a deal! 2 controllers, 2 light guns, 2 memory cards and house of the dead 2 for $80 Canadian--in the original box with manuals, web browser etc! I have a Saturn, but it's a model 1 and can't be chipped. Try finding any GOOD games for a reasonable price... =( This emu looks interesting. Being able to play Saturn on Dreamcast would ROCK.
  8. this is an absolutely awesome idea! Thanks so much for sharing your work with us! I have a question though--I have nearly every complete goodset, so there's little point in me downloading it all again. Would it be possible for you to post an ISO of your discs somewhere with just the emulators and interface? IE, with dummy ROMS folders that we can fill in with our own ROMS? I debated about downloading your two discs, but my ISP is pretty stingy with the bandwidth so grabbing upwards of 8gig of ROMS I already have doesn't make sense for me... If this is something you don't have time for, could someone else extract their ISOs, nuke the existing ROMs, save THAT as an ISO and post it somewhere? I imagine there must be people on this board who already have a large number of these ROMs....? Thanks again--great idea!
  9. Hmmmm. I work with no less than 6 "jasons" and 3 "Chris's". They're diverse enough that they don't share much in common though. EDIT: You're probably right about Rasputin!
  10. Disclaimer: I really don't want people to be offended by this topic--I DO realize that not all people with a certain name act the same etc--this is just about personal experiences... With that said, do you find certain names tend to go with certain types of people? As an example: Every "Jack" I've met has a screw or two loose. For every 10 "Jeffs" I meet, 8 are egomaniacs. "Cindy's" seem to be pretty wild. I've never met a "Margo" I didn't get along with. Etc. Your experiences?
  11. this is sort of a multipart question. I'm looking for the best settings for TV-out. I have a Radeon 9800 pro 128meg card and use the tv-out to play emulators on my tv instead of the pc. I only have a PIII 933Mhz, but it runs Neo Geo, SNES and even N64 ROMS at very playable speeds (on my tv). But then there's NES. I think I've tried nearly every emulator out there. No amount of triple buffering, vsync, or lazy vsync seem to clear up the tearing AND keep a decent framerate. A few emulators can avoid the tearing (FCEultra and RockNES X) but play like crap. My framerate goes to hell and the audio drops out. I can list all my settings here if you wish, but is anyone outputting NES to their TV with success on an older machine? What are your settings? Is it really just a CPU issue? Why can I do N64, or even SNES for that matter--but not NES? One emulator looked really blurry until I checked "disable video card acceleration" or something like that. Then it was sharp again. ???? Bypassing my "kickass" ATI card (relative to what I had) makes it look BETTER? I'm beyond confused. I'm trying for 640x480x16. Simple 2xscale. hq2x looks nice, but my cpu goes to 100%. Tell me something's wrong here, or is NES emulation just not that far along--optimization-wise?
  12. Yup--that worked. Thanks! I got an answer before I had even shut my DC off. This forum rocks.
  13. I've run into a few games where (on a real DC) the music plays in the left channel, and everything else is on the right. I'm guessing this was just a bad job on the multi-disc? If I hunted down the games on their own would they still suffer from this? I'm thinking of KOF99 specifically--that's the most recent one I've run into...
  14. Welcome to what is called "culture shock". When my small-town cousin visited the "big city" in which I live, she was shocked by all the punks and skinheads that walk the street. She was convinced every one of them was staring at her. Maybe some of them were--but she didn't realize her eyes were as wide as saucers, and her mouth was wide open. They had plenty to stare at! Do you work in a prison? If not, I wouldn't be too concerned. You sound sincerely creeped out. I think there are a few possibilities. 1. You don't have any contact with gay people in your day-to-day life so this freaks you out. You're under the mistaken impression that gay people want nothing more than to rape straight guys. This is not the case. When's the last time you heard about a mass--straight guy raping going on (outside of prison)? I think a part of this might just be in your head. Maybe they're just friendly people--remember, gay used to mean "happy", remember? or 2. You are visibly disturbed by these people--and they're the type to play off that. They're trying to get a rise out of you. If they can tell it bothers you, they're going to keep doing it. You don't have to be gay to act that way either. I'm not trying to discredit how you feel at work--I'm sure you genuinely feel that way. Just realize that not every gay person is trying to have sex with you. Much in the way that not every straight girl is trying to have sex with me. Now wouldn't that be the life...
  15. Geez, do you think the guys behind that quiz are left-wingers? Just maybe? Some of the wording was pretty politically charged IMHO. Some of it inflamitory. And that's coming from a guy futher left than Gandhi! Economic Left/Right: -8.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.97 Somehow it didn't surprise me that Bush and Paul Martin (Canada's PM) are on the opposite side of the spectrum. Never did like their views much...
  16. Dude, how are you going to use a bootdisc when it won't read CD-R's? That's why the 3030's are useless for playing backups.
  17. Just to be clear, I'm a dreamcast owner--and proud! I have over 20 original discs (I know that might be small potatoes in these waters)--but I can't really rip them myself. I'm clueless regarding coding cables etc--hence my inquiry. "Why not just play them on your dreamcast?" might be the next obvious question. Besides this being a forum on emulation? To me, there's something MUCH cooler about playing games on my PC. Whether it's SNES, Neo Geo or now Dreamcast--I like having collections of games on my HD. Plus, I've always hated the dreamcast controllers. Sorry to their fans--but I think they blow. I bought a few Mad Katz (sp?) pads that were bigger, but I still got slaughtered at fighting games. Maybe the fault lies with me--I'm much better with a dual shock... I use a PSX-->USB adapter, and I love playing my old PSX games on my PC. Now I can do the same with dreamcast (albiet with an upgrade). If it was as simple as putting my discs in my DVD-burner and ripping them this wouldn't be an issue. I own RECV, and I also have a backup. On the backup, the FMV blows. I can only play the BACKUP on my PC. There will come a day when my dreamcast will no longer work, and then I'll have to hunt one down on ebay. To me, that's a pain in the ass. I know for others it's not a big deal. Anyhow, I starting to blab here. I agree wholeheartedly that a great number of people don't pay for their games--and perhaps helped put the final nail in the DC's coffin. Just want to point out I'm not one of them! I also realize I'm a bit more hung up on quality than...well, just about everyone I know! I'm an editor, so my daily routine involves accepting and rejecting things based on quality standards. I guess I bring that home...
  18. Yah, I think some of the FMV in RECV was downsampled--a few of them looked pretty gross. I've read nfos (forget for which game(s)) that ripped out audio tracks and just pointed the game to others they left there as a way of saving space. I'd like to hear the original audio! Yah, I never saw D2 either....maybe it will see a release now?
  19. I asked this once before, but with the release of Chankast, do you think there will be new rips of games that were downsampled or had things removed? No need to make them fit on a CD anymore! Does anyone have a list of games that were downsampled? I didn't keep the.nfos--though not all of them indicated when things were altered. Is it worth investing in a coders cable to rip my own games? I'd rather have the game(s) as they were. Why emulate downsampled goods? Interested in your thoughts... these are exciting times!
  20. Stolen from the Rude Pundit 5/31/2004 And What About Those Other Little Firearm Laws? Exactly how may laws, federal and D.C., might the President be breaking with his possession of that firearm? Did he receive a background check for the transfer of ownership? Is Bush licensed to possess a firearm in a federal facility ? The District of Columbia prohibits firearms to be gifts . How many people are implicated in Bush's firearm possession? And, of course, ignorance of the law does not excuse the potential crimes. // posted by Rude One @ 10:42 AM
  21. SEVERLEY outdated?! OK, I'll give you that! I was posting specs and performance more for other people's curiosity than anything else. This is damned exciting--waiting for Icarus for so long to have Chankast essentially "drop out of the sky" was very nice indeed! Looking forward to further releases!
  22. Thanks for the tip! I thought it might be possible... =( Are your first 4 "keys" under joystick garbled too?
  23. Has someone figured out the PS controller layout? I can't get the movement keys to map either. Are the first four keys showing up as garbage for everyone else? Am I to assume they are: up down left right ???
  24. P3 933Mhz with 512Meg and Radeon 9800 Pro isn't pretty either...
  25. Don't get sucked into downloading Industrial Spy for the art--it's not worth it. TRUST ME!! I felt ripped off burning it to a 50cent disc...
