  1. i dont mind whether it comes out or not, big deal. i just think the "100%" status people are jumping about is sort of misleading to some but thats just me. @Agozer - the convert2 (23?) utility is used to encrypt/decrypt roms. if you chose to decrypt, it will also extract the s1 data from the C ROMs (mostly at the last 128kb of the C ROMs themselves). this s1 can be used for emulators that may need it (like NRX)
  2. the sound isnt perfect. its just that for some reason, sound samples in zupapa seems to get in sync with this game leaving the game on a more playable state (plus emulator compatibility). and that is not 100% in my book.
  3. shiet. garoup.zip - garoup is the prototype version of the game. this means the Marco Rodriguez's ending has muffled text, easier AI (even on level 8 ) and almost tekken-like gameplay (as the damage levels are fairly high here). you can only view the endings in console mode (arcade mode will just lead you to a "R Family Pal" screen). garou set 1 - im not sure what this is actually. if the file is named garouo.zip then it will produce the same thing as in garou.zip. just different P-ROMs. gameplay generally tweaked (try it, its top notch and is a lot different from the prototype version - worth the huge download) you can view the endings in arcade mode but only if you can get to Kain (it requires you to have an average of AAA before reaching Grant), otherwise the game ends after beating Grant. im not sure but i believe you dont need this when playing in console mode.
  4. well its free and updates are for free. It cleared up all the virus when I got it. I had about 37 viruses on my first Virus scan. l plus, the updates are as small as it can get (ranging from 3MB to 50kb - installed version dependant) so updating is easy as a snap
  5. i used to use NRX myself until neogeo support was added to FBA. i never returned since then (plus it made me discover that theres a lot more to play than neogeo - excellent shooters and other treasures). it couldve been MAME if i have a fast enough PC as it is a lot more developed, but thats what i like most about FBA - it is a simplified MAME anyway you look at it, interface, supported games, etc. emulation is next to MAME level though. and regarding the hardware requirements, it really isnt too stiff (a 266 Mhz PC should run everything decently to smoothly) though the vid card (TNT2 class) is really the one the makes to speed out of it.
  6. i always used the plain good old web in its infinite generosity and quite frankly i got most of the stuff that i have wanted (which isnt too demanding all-in-all but still has some difficulties)
  7. thats because he isnt really the one who made the patches (in IPS form). it was from various sources. he just compiled them (made them executables + description) and distributes them on his site.
  8. im interested though. do they have endings in the PS2 version?
  9. thats just for Shin Akuma and Serious Mr.Karate. Red Arremer and Athena are still are strong as they are. unlike the first 2 which can be played (with a code) in the AES version of the game (console mode), Athena and Red Arremer never meant to be playable characters in anyway (they dont even have endings).
  10. if theres one thing in Neogeo fighting games that i would love to use transparencies, its the shadows. otherwise, others best left alone.
  11. with quotes, my friend. im sure of it
  12. the "Ball" Boss is basically Igniz's whip-like weapon in 2k1. if you know how deal with Igniz in 2k1 then it shouldnt be alot different here. there are actually only 3 characters modified (Kyo, Iori, K'). the others play all the same as in 2k1 only with lightning and flame effects (bleh! ). and yeah, this hack sucks..... donkey...balls
  13. add to that, to make sure your file will save as <romname>.dat instead of <romname>.dat.txt, type "<romname>.dat" (with quotes) when saving.
  14. there are ROMs in there just do a bit of search on the menu. i also thought there are no ROMs on that site when i first got there.
  15. Maybe its like Pokemon blue... But I think he has the Plus version. I've never heard of the blue version... Fatal, you can check out www.neogamez.net for most of the ROMs you need. And the Kawaks 1.46 loader will serve you very well. Try the Search function here, you'll come up with something. Get on DC++ and you'll certainly find the ROMs. The ROMs are everywhere, just keep your eyes peeled. the Blue version is a "bedroom" color hack of svcplus. does nothing other than make things blue. and btw, the emus that does all-in-one are custom compiles of FBA (mslug5 with a special P1) and MAME. NRX cant emulate KOF2k3 (requires a separate NRX version that only has KOF2k3 in the gamelist. Nebula cant emulate KOF2k3 either, no fixes to that for now andi doubt you can find the ROMs you will need for Kawaks dev.
  16. I didn't know we had females in here....Unless you're a 'male' lesbian. shouldnt matter. we cuss him all the same in flame wars
  17. it still doesnt mean you have no options though. i believe thats the time you try and play "headgames" with the opponent. a crouching weak attack should at least provide an opportunity or at least a little breathing space.
  18. haha! way cool! welcome to MAME-level emulation
  19. as far as i remember, youre using an old PC right? is the monitor as old as the PC? anyways, im not wishing for this but prepare for a repair as it is possible that we'll share the situation later. my monitor is broken (currently using TV). im saying this because that was one of the first symptoms that i experienced as well. then later the screen gets distorted eventually. later some black outs, then finally there it is, broken monitor.
  20. Terry, Ryo, Kyo in KOF98 they have an ending picture. come to think of it, theyve always pioneered the games theyre starred (Art Of Fighting, Fatal Fury and KOF).
  21. for flocks sake, i cant believe a P166 can run anything decently in MAME nowadays. i mean ive tried the built-in pong game in MAME and all the best i got is a stinking 35 fps on my 300 Mhz machine that minimum requirement info sounds like a copy from an older article of theirs or another magazine (im referring to Crispin Boyer btw)
  22. FBA doesnt emulate G-Loc. you may be referring to Final Burn, not Final Burn Alpha. and Final Burn can now be considered a dead emu.
  23. those numbered roms are known as MGD2 dumps. EGCG removed support for those dump in favor or the ones were used to (xx_xx.rom). youll never make those sets work with EGCG unless you hack it again (heh) get "Redump" here. its a tool that will convert MGD2 roms to standard.rom format.
  24. yeah, i forgot about vsync. since he admitted to be a PC newbie, i already assumed it was enabled (v-sync is turned on by default as far as i know)
