  1. Ok, after some tests with the new build I have some comments about the so desirable features of PIXEL PERFECT. Problem 1. When I use any of the features, the antialias does not turn off, even in games like Moon Patrol (240x224), so I need to turn off the antialias by my own. Problem 2. But the antialias is not the main problem, the real problem is that the PIXEL PERFECT and PIXEL PERFECT X setting just present the screen on its 1X original size! It is a tiny tiny screen centered! This is wrong, since we can't have a 320x240 screen on a 640x480 native output... We should have the games running at 2X! Moon Patrol should be presented on 480x448! And we have yet the 3rd problem. Even with screen running on its 1X (tini-tiny) the aspect ratio is not correct. There are artifacts on the horizontal and vertical scrolling. With Jackal is easy to notice that. In Moon Patrol too, check the mountains in the background. Hey BP, can you please make the PIXEL PERFECT setting present the screen on its original size multiplied by 2? Shinobi should be exact 640x448. Thanks! I hope to be helpful!! * * * Vigilante = 256x256 On PixelPerfect = 512x512 on sd and 768x768 on hd (720p) Shinobi = 320x224 On PixelPerfect = 640x448 on sd and 960x672 on hd (720p) Cospefogo.
  2. Hey BP, I am already in touch with PhilExile! Thanks. Just for confirmation... what is the TDATA/UDATA save directory for ReIgnite R6? I don't want to overwrite any of my 14 different CoinOPS setups! Inspecting the XBE I got BABE7777. Is this correct? Cospefogo.
  3. Well, regarding the ANTIALIAS question, I think it should be turned ON as default for all modes expect for PIXEL PERFECT/PIXEL PERFECT X. Since both settings are in correct aspect ratio, we suppose that there will be no distortions, so, there is no need to blur the graphics. I am ready to test, BP! WOW. Thank you SO much for your amazing turnaround on this. And before the testing, I am a little curious yet: Shinobi = 320x224 On PixelPerfect = While on 480i it becomes 640x448 and centers to the screen, correct? On PixePerfect X = While on 480i it becomes 640x448 and centers to the screen, because 448 < 480 correct? Let's take now Vigilante = 256x256 On PixelPerfect = While on 480i it becomes 512x512 and center --- but some overscan happens on top and bottom, since 512 > 480 On PixelPerfect X = While on 480i, it does nothing, because the feature sees that 512 (2X) will not fit on the 480i height size Is this the way both PixelPerfect and PixelPerfect X work? If so, AWESOME. Simply the best. Perfect. Cospefogo.
  4. 720p is --- 1280×720 So, Shinobi game, MAME, could fit perfectly there! 320x224 --- 960x720 3X! =D
  5. Hey Phil... Then so - why the CPS1 and CPS2 games are 384 pixels on width? For sure, if they are running on a 640 width real arcade screen, then we must have some piece of software behind it "narrowing" the screen aspect ratio without break the 384x2 formula. 384 x 2 = 768. There are 48 pixels dead, cropped out of sight, 24 on each size. This is why I exactly would like to see the 10x11 pixel aspect ratio on CoinOPS. It could take the 768 pixels screen and turn it into 720. Better than nothing! And about Frank Morris comments, yes, 1X, 2X and 3X might work. But it needs to be exaclty 3X, and not 3,1111X or 2,99999X. ALTHOUGH I NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO TEST. I do not have a 720p TV. =D Cospefogo.
  6. >>> For 480i, 480p, NTSC, PAL: Original pixels X2 and centered >>> This is the best way to go. This option will cover around 600 games that fit, on one way or another, INSIDE the 640x480/720x480 NTSC 480i screen. I am absolutely sure since I have been installing manually many many CoinOPS for a long time. And YES, there are another 600 games that will never fit on this size, because they are wide screen or something similar, like the famous CPS1 and CPS2 games. The pixel perfect option should be a option that cover SOME games, and not all. I myself, for CPS1, CPS2, CAVE Shmups and several other games use the screen stretched on width with bilinear filtering. There is no other way for this games. One trick that could be AWESOME that MAYBE could help us with PIXEL PERFECT on CPS2 and CPS1 games is the 10x11 pixel aspect ratio, present on Xport's and NES6502 emulators. This option takes a wider screen and SHRINKS it by changing the single pixel unit dimension itself, and not the whole screen (causing distortion and artifacts). But I don't know if is it possible to add such feature on CoinOPS. Also, a X/Y offset movement of the screen could be superb. Cospefogo.
  7. Is it the very same MSN we used to chat ages ago? Let me resurrect mine (I did migrate to GTALK) C.
  8. Yes... Please ad it back. Sorry for my rude post before. Cospefogo.
  9. What the flock is going on here? Why the pixel perfect feature is gone? Why? When? What's the real reason behind it? Is it SO TROUBLE to code that it will be left behind? This is the only real true feature that was NEVER implemented before, the only one who really worths a new version of the emulator. This is important to play the game as they really intented. I can't understand why it was dropped out? There was a voting process running? Jesus flocking Christ! Cospefogo.
  10. Opa! Voted for PIXEL PERFECT feature. Why people want YET MORE GAMES? There is no time enough in a lifetime to play 33% of the already covered games! =D Cospefogo.
  11. Here is the way to go, http://consollection.de/ Cospefogo.
  12. Great Fu-Manchu, Father of the Honorable Shang-Chi Master of Kung Fu, Thanks for your help!! Best regards! Cospefogo.
  13. Hey guys, I remember to trying Double Dragon 3 on Mameox128Plus in the past and the experience was not satisfying. The game was nice, but the sprites movement were some kind of "blocky", not with slowdown but stuttering, if you know what I mean. Just like "hiccuping" all the time. When the whole screen scrolls together, the movement is fine. But when the screen is still and only the characters move, they are affected by this. So, here is the question: Is this the original behavior of the game or it was not emulated well by the old Mameox? This still happen on the newest CoinOPS released? I tried to test the game BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO FIND A WORKING ROM. Can someone please test for me if Double Dragon 3 on CoinOPS presents a nice and smooth movement of the characters? If so, I will try to hunt down a correct rom for it. Best regards, Cospefogo.
  14. Hey there BP, There is a interesting feature on Xport's emus called 10x11 pixel aspect ratio. It is also called 720x480 mode. As far as I know, it is a native function part of the Xbos SDK, something like that. I think I even have the code on my old PMs for this over XboxScene. Have you heard about it? What do you think about having it available on the next version? This tool "shrinks" horizontally the pixel aspect ratio, and this could be superbly useful for games like CPS1 and CPS2 that have 384 pixels on width. On the actual versions, it is impossible to fit the screen on pixel 1:1 without losing 24 pixels on each side, thing which is unacceptable. It is too much screen cropped. The 720x480 mode could help a lot, since it will "force" without aspect ratio corruption the screen to fit a bit better on the 320 pixels natural screen width. Please consider this. It is just a simple function to be added to the options. Thanks! Cospefogo.
  15. I play Black Out and it does not take 20 seconds here too... But this is normal. Some games are faster to load than another, (talking about the black screen before the loading bar). About the controls... Here at my personal setup I did map the in-game menu on simple WHITE button. It works for me as a PAUSE at same time. If a phone rings or if one of the 7 cats jump over the area, just a single button for pause is the way to go. And also I need to remap 100% of the games that use 3 buttons. By default they come mapped to X, A and B. But since I use a Sega Saturn Pad, I need to remap the buttons to A, B and BLACK. This way I get a nice comfy SEGA ABC style for three of my fingers at same time (Yes, I don't get how people play games using a single thumb for 2, 3 sometimes 4 buttons.) And since I don't have the analogic thumbsticks, I need to remap all the games like Outrun, Hang-On, Ikari 3, Midnight Resistance and so on back to regular L ad R triggers. Well... it's quite a job! But I love it! Cospefogo. IMPORTANT TIPS: 1 - To be able to remap the EMULATOR CONTROLS, you should enable this option on the advanced settings, something like "Gamepad can be remaped". After turning that on, enter on ANY game and press BACK+WHITE. This will bring the INGAME menu for THAT game, with cheats, controls, etc... And also (since you turned it on) a option to adjust the controls globally for the EMU UI. There you can change, for once, options like COIN INSERT, EXIT A GAME, IN-GAME MENUS, SCREENSHOT TAKING, ETC. 2 - Complementing the tip above, after doing your adjustments, go back to the emulator advanced settings and turn the "Gamepad can be remaped" OFF. Why that? Simple... If someone enters in the BACK+WHITE menu by accident, and by accident keep pressing buttons randomly (like a frenzy child playing crazily) it can harm the global setting for the UI controls, and everything will be a mess... 3 - In few words: turn it on, adjust what you need, turn it the hell OFF!
  16. I also would like to see that, however it was told me in the past the the Xbox can't handle the GBA better than what it is handled today. It's a pity! Specially now when I did sell my NintendoDS. Tip: Double Dragon Advance is one of the games that runs on a full speed on XboyAdvance! Cospefogo.
  17. if ($remember == 'well') { $file == '/save-dir/catver.ini'; } else { $file == 'I-can't-be-sure...'; } Jokes apart, I think it is on the catver.ini file. Or in the romlist file, both in the E/TDATA/COINOPS-SAVE-DIR/ Other file that has a huge collections of names inside it is the MAMEOX.XBE, but on this one you will need to go by HEX EDITING. Best, Cospefogo.
  18. Ok, ok then! Let me become part of the testing crew for this feature. I want to collaborate on it. It is a really important matter to me. Is your MSN still the same? NATIVE SCREENSIZE + CENTERED will be a bless! Cospefogo.
  19. I second, I third, I fourth that. Really. Over the name of my mother. I really wish, dream, pray for that. Hey BP, With all respect to your incredible work, I really don't understand why you are so reluctant in add this feature to the emulator options. We are not asking for a silly embellishment or a ultra-super-complex emulator modification. It is just a way to launch the game on its original and natural screensize. I know it is easy for me to talk, since I am not a developer, but I have been seeing you say many many times things like "...this feature is a 10sec do...". Looks like to me it is a very simple thing on the coding/developing side. Am I wrong? If it is easy, why not include it? I asked for simple NUMBERS on the screensize adjustment in the past, but you were reluctant to add it yet. Then me (and now some followers) did our crazy (yes, I assume, neurotic) screen configs by trial and error, on a dark blank screen! Also, I suggested for a way to have a pattern on the screen config, but we don't have it too. For my person it is much more important to have a game running on a correct screen aspect ratio than having fancy video previews or other feature that really does not affect any part of the essence of the whole thing - the game play itself. I am not fighting, I am not criticizing, I just want to stand my point of view. You know BP, I told you many times that I was a fierce defendant and bold user of HK$ MAMEoX128Plus, I loved that emulator, but on the day I was able to setup my HexEdited versions of CoinOPS running Shadow Dancer and Shinobi so perfect as I never ever saw before, I dumped every single other MAME emulator out of my Xbox. For me CoinOPS is simple the BEST. Maybe my post could sound like moaning words, but l really would like, again, to suggest a way to have the games running on their native configurations. I could go even further, to have each game saving on its own INI their very own config for the screensize. This could be the BEST FEATURE in the universe, but I think it changes to much the foundation codes and rotines for MAMEoX. Please, take in consideration a simple single option... [LAUCHING GAMES ON ITS ORIGINAL SCREENSIZE RATIO] ......... ON/OFF Well, that's it. Besides that, keep up the great job. For sure I own you and all other Xbox Emu Developers the MANY HOURS of fun that I have on my Xbox playing the old arcade games. Cospefogo.
  20. One simple question... On the latest versions of CoinOPS, is it possible to adjust the appearance of the screenshot? I really would like to have the shot printed on its real size and orientation, with no alpha overlay over it, with no stretching and specially with no distortion. On the previous versions of CoinOPS I was not able to edit that on the INI file. Maybe I did not find it... Or maybe it was not there. Thanks!! Cospefogo.
  21. Us, and them And after all were only ordinary men. Me, and you. God only knows it's noz what we would choose to do. Forward he cried from the rear And the front rank died. And the general sat and the lines on the map Moved from side to side. Black and blue And who knows which is which and who is who. Up and down. But in the end it's only round and round. Haven't you heard it's a battle of words The poster bearer cried. Listen son, said the man with the gun There's room for you inside.
  22. Hey Guys, After almost one hour of fighting the emulator, I was able to get two new setups for some important games that I was missing. I did create (after Hex Editing the XBEs) two new CoinOPS, one for the size 240x256 (Legendary Wings, Avengers and some others) and 256x256 (Vigilante, Spartan X and few others). Legendary Wings is a important title, and it should be played on a pixel perfect screen display, no blur, no fancy filtering, no distortions. It worths it! Here are the sizes and positions for both emulators: (Only for NO ANTIALIAS and NO FLICKER FILTER usage!) - 256x256 ScreenUsage_X = 0.801562 ScreenUsage_Y = 1.066667 ScreenPos_X = -0.029687 ScreenPos_Y = 0.100000 - 240x256 ScreenUsage_X = 1.332813 ScreenUsage_Y = 1.066667 ScreenPos_X = 0.001563 ScreenPos_Y = -0.009375 Please note - the 480i/480p modes have 480 pixels on height. 256 * 2 = 512 pixels 512 - 480 = 32 pixels Both sizes do not fit entirely on the screen (on the height) so I needed to crop 32 pixels out of the screen. It really worths the price for me, I did left out of the view the top of the games, where we mostly have only the score information. For those interested on the INI files entirely, drop me a PM. PS. And I will never understand how this emulator works regarding the screensizes. Doing the correct math, 240 pixels should be 1.333333, value that is 320 divided for 240. However this number is WRONG when applied to the emulator. It brings distortions and artifacts! The correct one, on my setup, was achieved by 1.332813. Strange huh? Another example. On the real world math 256 divided for 320 is simply 0.8. That's it. But the value of 0.800000 does not work inside the emulator. The correct value I was able to find was 0.801562. This is really really hard to get, painful. But anyway, I am glad to be able to find them and to spread the word to the another PIXEL FANATICS out there. Cheers guys, Enjoy Legendary Wings, Avengers, Vigilante and Spartan X with no devilish blur and cursed screen corruptions!!! Long live to the correct pixel aspect ratio! Cospefogo.
  23. I also wish there would, but I guess there isn't. Too keep the correct ratio without messing up the real look of the NES pixels you have to multiply (or in this case double) the NES native resolution of 256 by 224 pixels. The settings we use here are 512x448 pixels on 480p, so 32 pixels will always be outside the upper or lower screen. For most games I feel it more annoying when at the top of the screen is something missing (like the score in Castlevania 1), however there might be games where it is different. The good thing is that you can change the settings game by game and simply move the screen with the left analog stick without changing the resolution. Well... Most of the games have few pixels on top, right, left and bottom that I call "dead zone/dead area" of the screen. This was already in the mind of the programmers to not use areas suitable to TVs overscan (image cropping) when building the games. Those parts of the image most of the time have just colors or edges of the background graphics, no important information was presented there. The developers were aware of the world of the overscan on the televisions. But, Akumajou Dracula and Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania 1 and 3) and few others I am sure, break this rule. The programmers presented the word "SCORE" and all the rest of the top panel of the game right on the edge of the Famicom screen. It's obvious that it could present some overscan. And I am sure to say that because I used to collect real videogame gadgets 3~4 years ago and I had a Famicom and a thousand cartridges. And YES - Castlevania 1 and 3 always presented overscan (my reference point was the "SCORE" word on top of the screen) on a real famicom pluged on a real CRT SD-TV. So, it is matter of centering the best you can the image - of course, under the rule of 512x448 - on your screen. Unfortunately this is the best we will ever get. We need to get used to it. For me, it is perfect. Also, the different MAME CoinOPS that I did set up are a bless. You can't imagine how wonderful is to play Contra and Super Contra with pixels 1x1, magically tricked to fit on a horizontal screen. How I did that? Yes, I did crop 30% of the image on the top. But... am I crazy? No. Both games just present score and life information on top. Nothing really useful. The world belongs to the pixels! Cheers, Cospefogo.
  24. Hey man... I don't know about game info screens. I really don't use anything more than - ROM LIST + IN-GAME SCREENSHOTS = nice playing moments But I will check... Cheers, Cospefogo.
  25. Problem of the CONVERT.BAT solved... Matter of fact, my old XP was missing the CMD.EXE from SYSTEM32 directory. Why? I have no idea... My main machines are Macs and that XP runs on a lonely old laptop, just for retro-compatibility and spare applications. Artwork already converted! Now it's time to abafar! Cospefog.
