  1. Is it difficult to emulate the CPS2 QSound algorithm? I keep hearing people say that the Xbox does not handle it accurately in any of its emulators. What do you think about that, nes? From what I can remember, QSound isn't properly emulated in any emulator. The QSound chip is on Guru's "to decap" list (Number 17 [ http://guru.mameworld.info/decap/index.html ], and has been for quite some time. Gotcha. Thanks for the response iq_132. Perhaps it will be "decapped" someday.

  3. First Console = Colecovision First Computer = Commodore64 Best Console Memories = Discovering the emulators for the Xbox + owning all the great Sega Saturn imports Best Computer Memories = getting one of the very first commercially available CD burners
  4. I have a question for you nes6502. Will we be able to manually adjust the screen size in FBL? If not, then I'd like to request that if it's not too much to ask. Also, 2700 games? Wow that's quite impressive to say the least.
  5. Wow, much appreciation for your efforts.
  6. I guess its the end of the road...finally. Thank you for all your efforts, but just know that they are not in vain. It was a blessing to have you update the drivers on this emulator. From what I've seen while testing the builds, I can't even begin to mention all the improvements you made on how the games run. What I'm saying is, you have no idea how much your hard work and time is appreciated for even trying to work with that FBA-XXX code. It's unfortunate that the 'Others' section was such a difficult animal to tame. The Xbox really, REALLY needed those updates to CPS1, CPS2, and NeoGeo drivers very badly. I'm quite glad to know that nes6502 is adopting the marvelous NeoGeo code you slaved over, but I certainly hope he does the same for your CPS2/CPS1 code as well. Thank you for doing what you did for the scene, my friend.
  7. Finished updating the core to the latest FBA tonight. Now working on getting all the VM code added so CPS2, NeoGeo, PGM, and Cave games work. Then I will work on bugs in the GUI This is awesome news. Thank you!
  8. Exactly. No matter what, it will be great.
  9. I want to update it (mainly because of the games added since my port and the sound in the System 18 games is fixed) I'm going to give it a go. If it turns out to be to much of a headache, then I'll release what I have. Kenshiro sent me his NeoGeo code and now all NeoGeo comaptability is 99.99%. I spent months on the NeoGeo code and only got the compatibility to around 90%. Now the problem is solved thanks to the awesome work of Kenshiro (and any who helped him) I wish you the best with the update, nes6502. Again, thank you for everything you've done.... and for what you're planning to do.
  10. I just want to say that what you have done is greatly appreciated. I know you hear that a lot, but I know that most of us (well me) really do mean it. Taking the time to do what you've done should net you the credit you deserve. You did it for the scene, which is commendable to say the least. That said, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want you to update FBL to the latest FBA. I honestly hope you decide to do it. Once again, thank you for the excellent app.
  11. It contains a modchip, which means you have a much better chance of saving the Xbox. Try getting a new HDD first and see how that works. But before installing it you should really do some internal maintenance on it, like cleaning it out. If those two things do not solve the problem, then check cbagy's post again on replacing the thermal adhesive. You should backup anything important on the old HDD now, just as a safety measure.
  12. Looking forward to Final Burn Legends, nes6502. Based on your excellent past works, I'm sure it will be great.
  13. I'm jealous...the old lady took the TV when she left after I lost my job. That story is for a differ forum w/ country music playin. DaphneX Roms and FBA 1.29 is all that I lack in the Xbox mod world. Without HD now am I missing out on 1.29....emulation is better? I have been playing XMUGEN and Xbox version of Baldur's Gate Dark Allience I as of late....to stick to the thread. 1.29 gives you a lot of games that werent emulated in fbaxxxpro1.28 and as for the hd i dont use it myself as i prefer to use a scart lead. i likes me pixels to much!!! Fu, the 720P mode keeps all your pixels intact. I'm sensitive to scaling issues and I can confirm that to you because of the connection with Component cables, the 720P mode is pixel for pixel perfection. The games look incredible in HD mode; I wish I could post some screens. But scart lead hookup is also pixel perfect. So I'm sure your having lots of fun. Too bad its rare in my country. We don't have scart in the US but a friend of mine imported a monitor with scart lead a few years ago. Another route people can take is to buy a device called "x2vga" and connect Xbox to their PC monitor. Voila 720P mode! Fcreeves, the emulation accuracy with all the games is much better with 1.29. For example, play a simple game like Magician Lord on it. You will notice that it has the full arcade intro and some effects that no other FBA or Mame version on Xbox has. Kenshiro updates all of the drivers, so the games are all brought up to date. If you know the hardware, then the CPS2 and Neogeo improvements can be seen instantly. The improvements are too numerous to list.
  14. Have fun, Kenshiro!!! Enjoy your much deserved vacation, man! I hope to check out your latest release soon.
  15. I'm playing (testing) Kenshiro's latest build of FBA 1.29. He has updated every single driver to the latest PC FBA 2.97 or later core. This means MUCH more accurate emulation compared to the old 1.28. In my opinion, it's all about the games first, and he's done a ton of work with them. Everything is running in 720P HD now and with all the improvements made to the emulation, I can't go back to 1.28. Kenshiro's done an awesome job.
  16. Many of the issues you listed here with NeoGeo games have been fixed. The Others section has been fixed (but not released yet). You will see those fixes released in the last build. For the games like kov.zip, Oriental Legend -- that's just the preliminary sound emulation of those roms, so the sound is inaccurate in all emulators at the moment. I already mentioned the rotary joystick functions for Forgotten Worlds, etc. earlier before 1Emu crashed. 1.28 version had no rotary controls either. CPS2 runs fine in all modes, but the first rom launched boots to a black screen in 720P or SD modes. That was in the latest release log in general. Boot a CPS1 game first, or just exit the first CPS2 game and relaunch it.
  17. My main TV is a 37" HD LCD (1080p 1080i 720p 576i 480p 480i). All games look very good without lots of filtering. Obviously i set the aspect ratio of a particular rom with the emulator screen adjust. Otherwise the games look very stretched n nasty. I am going to play with the filters tonight though. I tried the scanlines filter to test for neoryu and that looked awfull. However each to their own i suppose and thats how it should be. It certainly depends on the TV. And you are right -- to each their own.
  18. This is true. All it needs is a skin that is 1280x720 for 720P mode, which is the correct aspect ratio for that resolution. It fixes the GUI/text being warped.
  19. It appears to me like you got the same issue I was talking about after all -- Guwange will be missing sprites. I think Kenshiro can solve what to do about that because it seems like a memory issue with Guwange. As far as the sound, that is one of the main things I look for issues with. I specifically remember the 1.28 PRO version and the non-PRO version especially having some crackles, pops, and skips in the sound even with regular settings (22050) and standard definition. The sample rate does not cause any issues with the sound on Kenshiro's version. Only the three video filters at the very bottom of the list can cause sound issues, such as HQ2X, HQ4X, and 3XScale. I am a sound guy, so if there were any pops and crackles, I would definitely bring them up. My settings on 720P mode have never even popped or skipped once with sound at 44100 on this version. I wish your Xbox would behave like mine cba.gy And thanks for that awesome skin package. I'll be using those permanently.
  20. Found an issue with only one CPS1 game (also in 1.28): In Forgotten Worlds, there is no way to use 8-way gun direction. It was like this in FBA 1.28 also. Is it possible to fix that? In my opinion, the game is almost unplayable with just firing straight ahead only.
  21. I love the clone sets. Some of the different region roms have changes made to the games. For example, vsavj.zip (Vampire Savior - Japan) is uncensored -- but the parent set vsav.zip (Vampire Savior - Euro) is heavily censored. The most obvious difference is the blood changes to white or purple depending on your character selected in vsav.zip. Its all beautifully red in its originally intended way with vsavj.zip. I personally love having them all available and many people I know do too, but the option to hide clones that Kenshiro put in was a brilliant idea for those that get confused by the clone sets. PS: that skin is now my permanent FBA skin, cba.gy. Great work sir. If you continue to update it, I will be checking it out.
  22. @cba.gy: I use these settings below: Video settings: 720P Hardware filter: Anisotropic (sometimes Linear) Software filter: Scanlines 75% Flicker Filter: off Audio settings: PCM interpolation: ON FM interpolation: ON Sample Rate: 44100khz (will try 48000khz) All CPS1/CPS2 games run perfect (after the initial black screen). All the NeoGeo games that works run perfect. Try these settings out with Guwange and see if things are OK for you. Play a few medium or large-sized NeoGeo games and then run Guwange with those settings.
  23. Catch it, i see wha i gonna do. And for dipswitches on Esparade, that's normal BTW zero wing works fine here! Moooooooooooooooooo! Edit: i need to know which cave games cause problems in 720P, except those previously reported. The ones I listed are the only games that cause issues in the Others section. The rest of the games besides those are perfect.
  24. I understand why lol. It is quite marvelous, but it is also marvelous to just have this emulation accuracy, regardless of TV. Try out Guwange on the newest build. Try running a few NeoGeo, CPS2, and Others games beforehand, then try booting it after those. Please give us your results if you can.
  25. Are you sure you played it in 720P mode? On this version there has been some changes to a few things. Some 'Others' games had dipswitches on the last version but do not have them now. It matches the latest MAME sets so maybe that is normal. I have spent some time checking this out and it seems that Guwange can either freeze or show no sprites in 720P mode. Since he's on a roll, Kenshiro can take a look when he gets a chance.
