ugenn Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Look carefully at the pix.The dithering in the genesis is extremely obvious, especially for digitised images (ie MK) due to lack of colours. Try setting your monitor to 16 colour mode and then to 256 colours and note the difference in quality. That's the sort of difference in capability of the 2 systems. In adddition, the SNES graphics hardware is capable of more effects like scaling/rotation (mode 7) and alpha blending.
Agozer Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 (edited) SNES. It also had superior sound processor compared to the Genesis. MODE7 = Serious Ownage. Edited October 10, 2004 by Agozer

SPCs were pretty awesome for their time. The only thing that the genesis beat the SNES on was CPU speed. SNES = Western Design Center 65816 3.58Mhz, Genesis = Motorola 68K 7.61 Mhz. but the great support hardware more than made up for that. Edited October 10, 2004 by ugenn

Not to mention that the special chips that were designed for the SNES (DSP1-4, SPC7100, S-DD1, SuperFX1/2 etc.) made the SNES more versatile than anything else on the market at that time. KyokugenKiss Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 as much as i love toejam and earl i gotta say SNES because of Chrono trigger! and super metroid! and contra: legacy of war! and Mario All Stars
Agozer Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 do not forget Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia and Tetris Attack.
Agozer Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 (edited) And Yoshi's Island. And Donkey Kong Country.yes... and roughly bajillion other great titles. Sur, there are some ungodly crappy titles too. Edited October 10, 2004 by Agozer
Diso Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 As I stated b4, Snes would undoubtably win because theres more fans of SNES. Genesis had some cool games and series but snes has way more. Plus, Snes has Squaresoft and Nintendo on their side and had better graphics. It probably depends on tastes and stuff bcuz genesis has games that are easy to pick out as good or bad while snes had a ton and theres not enuf time to play them all :/
Agozer Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Genesis had Sonic. That's more than enough justification for a rabid fanbase.
Aolish Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 SNES. It also had superior sound processor compared to the Genesis. MODE7 = Serious Ownage.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> the mode7 for the snes at that time was great. but the scaling (especially when the object got near you) was absolutely horrid. it was a total block fest.
solidius23 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 SNES rules all one of the greatest systems ever!!!!!!!!
wacko_jacko Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 I liked RPG's, and they were definately better RPG's on the Snes. Sure there were the Shining forces and the Phantasy Star's, but they just don't compare to the vast RPG Library of the Snes.
