Wizard Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Crazy Squaresoft. This would of been the best of the best fan made remakes EVER. Morn it!
Gryph Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Ah what the hell!! That was going to be so badass! Chrono Trigger is my favorite console RPG. These guys were just too cool for doing this...flock Square-Enix!
veristic Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Laugh. If any of u owned Square-Enix n saw that in the works u'd stop it too.
Gryph Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 If I owned Square-Enix I would buy it from them when they finish and market it.
Wizard Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 This is technically legal since it isn't being commercialized. But their isn't no EULA to this game per-se. If all things were like this, we wouldn't be seeing total conversions or remake mods for games.
Prican25 Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 damn, the trailer was a great tease. maybe it might come out on the downlow by someone else
zhugeliang Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 aww man thats some bs, that looked more interessting then that lame ass drakengard. Maybe they planned on doing it themselves so they shut that one down. Still, I dont se why he cant just release it anyways, seeing ass I dont think he wanted to make aprofit from it.

Which means you must stop all progress of the project at all costs. They could keep releasing pictures and vids, but that would be the only thing they can do. They can't release the source to the whole game, but possibly to the engine.
Nusumenai Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I think this is the problem... SE hasn't made a decent RPG in so long... They just don't want anyone to remind them they were once good !
AntiWinner22 Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 My jaw dropped when I saw this pic. What the FLYING flock, SE? Anon.
Wizard Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 1) Squenix has something in stock for the game.2) They just don't want people to do things in their place. Does Squenix has any remake in stock anyways ? I think it was over after FF1, 2, RomaSaga1, FM1 and Shinyaku Seiken Densetsu ? Iggy is god.
OverlordMondo Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Is it just me, or has Square-Enix sucked since it began? The companies were better off alone.
ugenn Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I remembered there was another fan sequel of Final Fantasy that took off where 6 (US 3) left off. I think it was subtitled The Power Within. Anyone knows what happened to that project?
Daeval Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 This is technically legal since it isn't being commercialized. But their isn't no EULA to this game per-se. If all things were like this, we wouldn't be seeing total conversions or remake mods for games. It's a matter of stolen intellectual property. You can't just go and make a Street Fighter game and include Ken and Ryu and a slightly modified logo and expect it to be "legal" without Capcom's backing, even if you aren't commercializing it. At least not in the states. It's not like a total conversion because those use the mod-author's intellectual property. It's been a while since an ambitious mod based on someone else's property has been released. Something with a few minor "borrowed" elements might get through, because that typically isn't going to hurt the property owner any. That said, those screens piqued my interest, and I didn't even like Chrono Trigger particularly. A "cease and desist" doesn't mean that Square hasn't taken an interest in the project. Potentially, this could mean a product nearing completion with a minimal production cycle for Sqenix, and a chance for the developers to have their names attached to a Sqenix game. Not a bad deal either way. It's just guesswork, but it could happen.
i l l m a t i c Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Was the remake for PC?? looks pretty tightt...damm u square-enix..
