Devia Eleven Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 To re-inerate. I hate EVERYONE who "tries" as opposes to just being. I can smell out those who try in anything, it rings through in everything they do, even UFC. Some people might not know what I truly mean. Just immagine, a nerd trying to be hard. lol thats what its like for most music for me. I generally like artists that love their music, not their money. It goes hand and hand. One of my favorite, which I think some might be amazed... I Tupac. His crap was real, he had something to communicate. I dislike songs about some random girl in a club or somesuch. Blame in the Ah ah ahah ah ahcol baby! FUK THAT! Have you ever tried your ear at Alternative Hip-Hop? There's much more to Hip-Hop then women, clothes, money, cars, drugs, and violence. If you wish to dive into the Underground world of Hip-Hop, where lyrics actually mean something, let me know, and I'll give you a great list of people who aren't rhyming about having sex with strippers.

Im certain you are correct sir. Ill be getting back into music after I make my move. Im leaving Florida. So once everything is set up, I'll be atempting to broaden my horrizons, which includes music. I only have like... 200 songs, and am missing a ton of stuff I liked. Id do that same for you sir, there is alot of stuff out there that has been lost in time... that you may not know of. Its funny, how far music has come. WEre totally beyone conventional stule cycles now. One has an infinate amount of variation genras now. I remember likeing all sorts of stuff, that I run to a pen and piece of paper when they play it on the radio. "oh... I loved that song"
Hera Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) I give it 3 thumbs down. Edited May 22, 2009 by Hera
Shoma Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 THe deal was, Em was pretty jacked up mentally when he came on the scene. He was still going through alotta BS but had a vent to jus say what he wanted. Also the fact that he wasnt scared to say exactly how he felt and even at times he could sound psycho and pple loved it.But he's paid, now spending more time with his family, and all his issues are being resolved so he doesnt have that flair to spit angry and crazy fire like he used to. ( if u listen from his 1st album to last, his lyrics gets a lil less dark....a lil)Even though he and will smith never got along they seemed to be goin down the same path. pple loved Will Smith's raps when he first came out but his last album he was preaching too much and it was a bad album durin a time where pple no longer considered him as a rapper but just an actor.
2eyez Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 That's what happen when people sell out. I would to if I got paid up the ying yang twins.
Hera Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 That's totally true Shoma. When things work out, you lose the venom. I remember being so pissed off when The Distillers sold out. They were my fav girl punk band and right when they became more well known (and the fact that Brody's husband was Tim Armstrong from Rancid), their music became dull. They used to go through hellcat records and sold out to WB. Nice move. Now they pretty much don't exist.

I thought they were good though. there were only about 3 thinned out rows watching them I was right in front of Brody and seen Tim off stage. I bought that album but by the second album I thought they were played out.

Alpha Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Eminem was so 1999. Why does the guy even try anymore? He should start singing country.
Lucandrake Posted May 30, 2010 Author Posted May 30, 2010 Bumping for a reason, I just heard his new single, it's from the sequel album to the one originally talked about on this thread. Unlike the first time that I heard a single from Relapse, I'm actually moved. I hear the same struggles he went through from his early albums, and a more serious tone I've always preferred from his Slim-Shady counter-part (Beautiful was one hell of a track from that shitty album, it's the best gold I ever dug because until I heard that track, I practically forced myself to hear everything). His "insanity" raps (at least in relapse) were out of date, and the only Slim-Shady induced rhyme that I enjoyed was a bonus track not even on the original disc. Then again that took a serious tone throughout the entire song when compared to the rest of the album, which felt parody. When it comes to this part of Eminem, he already reached the roof with "Kim". Now hearing "Not Afraid" I feel the same way I did from when I heard "The way I am" back when I was 10, that "forget the haters" attitude some of us have to use from time to time in order to achieve what we desire. A lift that shows a possible cause to madness, showing that even though you feel like shit, there is a reason for it. Expressing those mountains in front of us are meant to be climbed, not to stand in front of while we whimper for our parents. Two things before I close this post: 1.I love Airplanes 2, check it out, Eminem went down that same serious route in that song. 2.This was meant to be post in blog, but again, I tested out if I could create one only to meet failure.
Devia Eleven Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 I'm not sure, see, this whole Mainsteam Hip-Hop thing about people caring about the Rap artist's life is pretty asinine. Eminem lost his spark so long ago that I just don't care about his music anymore, I don't really think he cares either. He's recycling struggles from a long time ago, he's outlived his welcome IMO. Eminem believe it or not is a grown man, who has money and success, for him to still be talking about this crap is amazing in itself, you had a good run Eminem.

He mind as well rap about all the money he has and chicks that he has which doesnt eve compare to our little ratio... sigh... just like all the other mainstream rappers.OH and Devia, the "King" of the kinda rap u jus mentioned right now is Drake, OMG, every song its about how he made it big, or his life in the rap world. Im like okay, you're in the hip-pop industry, rap about something that makes me think!*cough 'immortal technique* I was hoping for that same gritty style but he doesnt have any more motivation (life doesnt suck for him anymore) so he seems so "save the world"ish

Lucandrake Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 I checked out all of those suggestions Jenk, although I will go back and hear out the first three more thoroughly, they all have this rough "old school" taste that just feels too dirty for my ears. I could only ever listen to Biggie with that taste, the other dudes just seem to not mesh well with the beats in the backdrop. Their voices go against the noise when it should be flowing, otherwise it is just poetry being read with rhythm behind the speaker. Some people are cool with that, but I don't even bother with lyrics if the music doesn't compliment the musician. It's too rough on my ears (feels like a itch I can't scratch). Jay on the other hand, I fell in love with instantly, I shall be listening to his stuff for a while , thanks for the recommendation.
